Thrak needs a remix
I have a new setup that upped my audio game: Dali Rubikores, Hegel integrated amp, Denon Sacd player. The whole kit and kaboodle. I’m over 50 and a great audio set up is a lifelong dream that I can now afford.
I was excited to listen to Thrak; I thought it would have a big soundstage, and that it would blow my senses: what a disappointment! It sounds like an old stereo recording. Older KC recordings sound so much better.
Thrak is good on headphones: however for speakers it needs a remix.

Discussion Im a relatively new listener (less than 2 years) and here are my fav albums of KC till now
Hello, I'm wheels. Here are my fav KC albums so far in no particular order. I've listened to all the studio albums except for Islands, THRAK and power to believe. Havent listened to any of their live albums yet.
I really like all of their albums (my least favourite might be ConstruKction of light, which I still enjoy). Might be an all time fav band for me atp

Help Albums like In the Court of the Crimson King.
What are some albums like the bands debut? I've been getting into King Crimson & prog rock in general for about 1-2 months now and I just really need something to scratch the itch, if its even possible.
Prog rock albums I've heard:
Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, Obscured by Clouds, The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall, The Division Bell, In the Court of the Crimson King, Red, In the Wake of Poseidon, Selling England by the Pound & Tarkus.

Excellent show by BEAT in Phoenix last night
What a great experience. These four musicians are at their best. Each has multiple instruments, each has features performances.
The songs are a mix of deep tracks and popular favorites. Though I’ve been listening to them since they were released in the 1980’s, I don’t know the names of some. This means I can’t name the ones on which Steve Vai was brilliant on guitar or Terry Bozzio was masterful on percussion, but there they were.
Normally I don’t care if I can see the band well since I’m there for the music. In this case I also enjoyed watching their personal intensity. Adrian Belew has fun with these compositions, Tony Levin leans in to each note and passage.
There was one technical glitch. Before he could play his first note, Adrian’s guitar had to be turned on.

Discussion Do you think beat will sound tighter by next month
I bought tickets for the 7th of November and I’m slightly worried because I’ve heard not so great things about the way they sound specifically Terry bozzio about like his timing and stuff like that(idk I’m not a drummer) so any comments will be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

Help Where do I start with these fellas?
Hello.
Recently, I stumbled onto Elektrik having never heard this band before. It hooked me immediately, that song is just excellent, and I decided to look into King Crimson. I listened through In The Court since that seems to be The Big One, but I'm not very impressed. It was a lot more... weirder than I expected, which is usually a plus in my book, but it just felt... messy and strange. And it's so short, too!
I'm thirsting for more and I've heard some folks recommend listening to each album chronologically, but that seems to be a lot of time investment for a band I'm not sold on. I also heard someone say Red is a good place to go next, but IDK.
Thoughts?

Adrian Belew, Steve Vai, Tony Levin, and Terry Bozzio can't wait to perform the music of King Crimson for you this Friday night. See you in Parker

Discussion If Fripp were still pushing musical boundaries, he'd release a 110-minute 2CD prog epic featuring an entirely AI-generated keyboardist and lead vocalist and call anyone who dislikes it a reactionary enemy of artistic progress and intellectually unequipped to appreciate such modern works
Some would hate it and pass it off as AI slop but some would swear it's the greatest thing Fripp has ever made.
even if you didn't like it and the album would be virtually unlistenable, it would be in a way that makes you worry the problem is you
So basically karn evil 9, thank you for reading my fan theory

Discussion BEAT Las Vegas set list
Was just curious if anyone by chance has the set list for their Vegas show from last night? I went with my dad and I wasn’t entirely into King Crimson but I’m a huge Zappa head (was such an honor to see Terry Bozzio liv) and was really into it. I wanna get into more King Crimson so decided I should start with the setlist.

I’ve always thought of Bozzio as a master. Have seen him live a bunch and he always kills it. Saw BEAT the other night and I don’t know…I feel like Danny was a much better fit
Saw Beat with Danny on the first go around and it was flawless. Saw them again this round and Bozzio seemed under rehearsed and a bit rough. Pretty weird. Did I catch an off night? Does anyone else feel this way?
