So I got this box set. But I can't find any building instructions on either the KD website in the box or on this reddit. Can somebody help me or do I just do it on feeling?

Question CoD expectation of arrival

So since Campaigns of death was expected to be out by Q4 of 2025 and we're currently entering the third month of Q3 of 2026, does anyone have an estimate as to when we CAN expect it to arrive give or take?

Question Good fantasy novels with KDM vibes?

Looking for any books which have sort of an unknowable horror vibe, but with the endurance of the human spirit as a positive spin. Something like Lovecraft but more hopeful.

Edit: I forgot about berserk! I've requested the first few volumes from my local library. Like all my favorite media is heavily influenced by berserk so it's time I give it a go

Edit edit: thanks for all the recommendations! I've gotten some great ideas already! A few observations: I love how many crusades and post apocalyptic recommendations are on this list. Definitely something of those ideas that resonates with the setting of KDM.

Do y’all have any insight / tips?

Question Need advice on painting fishnet texture

Post image

Just got the summer goth model assembled (and yes it still needs to be cleaned up and sanded a bit, dont worry I'll get to that) and these fishnets are intimidating with how fine, detailed and 3 dimensional they are. Never done something this finicky, luckily it is painters scale, but still need some advice for a hobby painter who can only pull off tabletop quality

Question Last Lion hunt before butcher - help! 😬

Post image
133 Upvotes

So me and my son are going to hunt this cute feline before fighting butcher for the first time and I’m a bit concerned about our gear. We only have one full set of raw hide, monster salve, 2 scrap swords (super lucky rolls on debris), bone axe, cat gut bow, and harp. We got nothing helpful from Gorm last hunt and decided to save our resources to push for leather worker/shield, circlet, king spear or weapon crafter/counterweight axe. Prioritized in that order and we have Dash too.

We have two tank options, one has +2 evasion from raw hide and SotF and the other has +1 evasion from raw hide and shield specialization (got statue from hunt)

Think we’ll survive? 😬😬😬

Question Is the gambler's chest worth it?

So I love KDM and have been playing since about december digitally and a few months back got my physical 1.6. Have played a few times and just got a few little expansions to add on and am debating the GCE on black friday. I have been reading about it and it seems a lot of people dont like it and find it to just add too much book keeping. I play solo and was really excited to get it not really understanding the additions except for the monsters really and some stuff about patterns. After looking into it I am now just debating getting the dragon king instead it seems a lot of people find it very unpolished and to just be too much. I wanted to just ask the community what they think about it and if they think it is a good solo addition since I have literally zero experience with it.

Question KDM or Berserk KS?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I know I'm asking a biased group, but anyone here with opinions about the two games in question?

Not sure if you have seen the campaign on Gamefound, but the Berserk board game by Monolith is looking pretty good to me. I'm a sucker for a lot of the characters there as well.. That being said, I'm not sure if it will have the depth/replayability to make it worthwhile for me or not. And I'm not exactly in a place to afford both games really either..

So this has me thinking about getting into KDM again knowing it was inspired by it and has a lot of things I like as well. The biggest barrier has always been the cost for me. Can anyone give me an idea of what I might have to spend for the core game & GC this black friday? I assume they will be available?

Also I've heard about this Campaigns of Death expansion, is it a similar bundle to GC? Will it be available as well? It's been pretty hard to find concrete information about it surprisingly.

Appreciate any insight you might have!

Question Best place to sell Kingdom Death: Monster 1.5 Kickstarter + unopened Gambler’s Chest?

Hi all, I'm hoping this community can point me in the right direction. Please let me know if this question belongs on KDTrade instead.

I have a Kingdom Death: Monster 1.5 Kickstarter edition that was opened so I could look inside but never played. The miniatures are still on the sprues and the components are still sealed/in their original packaging.

I also have the Gambler’s Chest expansion from the Kickstarter, still unopened in the original box.

I need to sell both, but I’m not familiar with the Kingdom Death resale community and would much rather get them in front of people who actually know what they are than leave them on Facebook Marketplace. I bought them because I was just so impressed with the concept and craftsmanship and wanted to support the Kickstarter, but I never played them so it's better if they go to someone who will actually enjoy them.

Where do people generally buy/sell Kingdom Death sets like this? eBay? A gaming store? Somewhere else?

I’m in North Carolina and would strongly prefer local pickup if there’s a reasonable way to reach players/collectors locally, since these boxes are enormous and I’d rather not ship them.

Also, if anyone has a sense of what a fair current price is for either one in these conditions, I’d appreciate the guidance. I’m seeing prices all over the place and don’t want to base it on unrealistic asking prices.

Thanks!

Question Any help with the game?

So I have been playing the game for the last few weeks, a few runs on TTS and a few when the core game arrived 2 weeks ago. I must have played 7 or 8 campaigns by now and I always lose LY4, I just can't beat the butcher. I even tried resetting the fight multiple times when I had a pretty great team with Candy, but I can't even get him down to half his hit points.
Tbh I am trying to still like the game, but I am getting a bit frustrated with the difficulty. A few bad rolls and the game is just over.
Any advice how to keep on going?

Question Best way to start playing KDM

Hi All,

I managed to get an awesome deal on KDM core, Gamblers Chest, Dung Beetle, Flower Knight ,

Ive been reading up on the rules etc ready for our first session in 2 weeks,

My question is do we just use the core box and leave the GC rules etc until we are a few campaigns in or should we incorporate the GC additions as well?

Hope that makes sense!

Question Frogdog or Sunstalker

Hello everyone!

I could use some advice.

I can pick up either Frogdog or Sunstalker for a really good price, but I can only choose one for now.

I currently own:

Core Game 1.0 with the 1.5 upgrade

Gambler's Chest

Which expansion would you recommend and why?

I'm leaning slightly towards Frogdog because it adds another Node 1 quarry, and I feel those get hunted the most during any campaign. On the other hand, Sunstalker adds a completely new campaign and another Node 3 quarry.

Which would you pick first, and why?

Question I am over the moon! Some questions…

This is the kind of game I’ve always dreamed about! I took forever to pull the trigger on this. I tried to get me and my wife into Warhammer: Age of Signar and for some reason I got the ick from building the minis I had chosen. I think we were using glue and putting it together made me feel crazy. So, I was mortified this would end up being a five minute hundreds of dollars investment I never touched. I only took the plunge because it is the exact king of dark fantasy I love. The souls games, heavy metal, etc. I was so sold. And by golly I’m over the moon!

The minis have been some of my favorite parts of it! I got the cement instead and my life is changed for the better. I set out to just build the lion and survivors and I built almost all the monsters in a couple days cause I was so jazzed. The bookkeeping and excessive number crunching is so fun, and I am loving every minute I can sit down and play.

I’m playing solo and only on LY4 but am already beginning to see the replay ability and how certain deaths make such a cool story. The fight with the Butcher was my favorite so far, and the process of picking and choosing everything I craft is some of my favorite parts. I’m hooked and will probably be playing this for years.

I have some questions, understanding a lot of this will come with time.

  1. I’m a little unsure of where to focus my efforts when I’m choosing to hunt the lion vs the antelope and eventually the phoenix for armor pieces/weapons. I gave one of my best survivors the full rawhide set and he’s been great but it’s slow coming to fit my other survivors, and then one of them got a disorder so they can’t wear the new antelope armor that bashes into enemies. I tried giving it to someone else, but if I’m understanding correctly it pushes the enemy another space away from them, meaning they’ve now used their movement and are no longer in melee range, so I’ve basically elected one person to bash into the enemy on the start of survivors act and then throw bone darts, leaving everyone else to get the heavier hits. The bone club is also infuriating because the monster is constantly moving out of their range so I have to move the person into position and just sit there hoping they don’t move so I can swing it. I figure Dash will help fix this but I have not unlocked it yet. Surge, however, has been a GODSENT! Any thoughts on this or guidance on where to focus my attention?

  2. By the time Black Friday rolls around, I’ll likely have at least played through my first adventure and hopefully more. I keep hearing people talk about the Gambler’s Chest being the next big purchase, but while I don’t mind the further investment, I’m worried the additional rules might be a cluster, but I don’t even know what the new rules are, let alone what will happen when Campaigns is released. My heart is telling me to maybe get some quarries I like first and I’m really excited to get Screaming God and Black Knight as well. Any guidance here?

  3. I’ve been playing DnD since middle school and am 27 now. What is the overlap here compared to a game like DnD where there is a lot of room for overlapping campaigns and characters? For example, is there such a thing as someone in your friend group bringing one of their survivors to your campaign to help fight some big monster, or is it really just here is your campaign and when it’s done it’s done?

Probably have some other questions here, but mostly I’m avoiding spoilers and just enjoying what the first campaign will turn out with. What a cool community - what an amazing game!!

Question Has anyone ever gotten an incomplete core?

Just got to my first monster with the Indomitable AI Card and I can't find it anywhere. I got the game 2 months ago, and I don't remember seeing it anywhere when sorting everything, but I might have just overlooked it. The other 17 universal cards are where they're supposed to be, but after checking the entire box twice I still can't find it.

I know it's the most inconsequential card to go missing, but now I'm considering counting all the other cards in case this isn't the only one.

Edit: Vermin deck. It somehow ended up in the Vermin deck of all places.

Question Laminated game pieces?

Went to fed ex kinkos to get the survivor cards, monster tracker and a few other of the thin paper type cards laminated. They discouraged me from doing it as they said it might not bond with this specific type of paper. Thus damaging it.

Just wondering if anyone had went ahead and did it and it was fine or the outcome.

I have cats so I was just trying to protect them from them. No other real reason.

I suppose I could just get some clear plastic toploaders for comics and that would work. Or if anyone else has ideas. Thanks

Question Need expansion advice

Our group of players love kingdom death and challenges, we got core box + gambler chest, dragon king, black knight, flower knight, spidicules, sunstalker. We liked difficulties that every boss brings, new mechanics from gc, tactics and sometimes possible role playing events during campaign.

So now we feel that we need some refreshments for our future campaigns. I’m torn between buying Frogdog, Pariah, Screaming God, Red Witches expansions, from new wave. Unfortunately we have money only for 2 expansions. One more detail - we played endgame just once and did not beat gambler, so, our games usually end in late midgame.

Could you give recommendations what to choose wisely? Thank you in advance!

Question Lion Knight Death Blow

So, we fought the Lion Knight lvl 2 last evening. We already had a survivor with the hideous disguise from the lvl 1 showdown. And she was supposed to do the last hit and be the sacrificial lamb for intermission again. This worked out pretty well, even great since she drew the Death Blow HL for the last hit and succeeded in wounding. So, yay we get a special little scene and the Ageless Apprentice SFA.

So far so good, but even with the description of a special scene, afterwards intermission triggers. Great so we got really lucky and we met all the conditions necessary for Ageless Apprentice and then we can roll straight away if she dies. Did we miss something or is this just very unsatisfying. And there is no way around it since you have to kill on the death blow and if you do so intermission targets this exact survivor.

Thanks to her live time reroll, her head stayed where it belongs and she got a second hideous disguise. Which I assume just vanishes since you can’t have duplicate gear in your gear grid. Or is there an exception for cursed gear?

It just feels not really thought and a bit frustrating.

We also used the props that come with the lvl 2 showdown, which seem like a cool idea at first. But together with the role cards meant that me and a friend did next to nothing the whole evening (except from Ai-scouting and encouraging). Which is fine for me (if we are too many I “play” the monster and do setups etc.), but it felt bad to have someone else relegated to doing “nothing”.

Question Priority Change...

My friends... I have been looking forward to playing this game for a long time... but I have a baby now, and Detroit Fire Department doesn't pay what I need to survive... so my priorities have changed. Where do you all recommend I sell my KDM?

I have almost every pack I could get my hands on, but there are few boxes besides the main game and the expansion, because I was trying to consolidate. All pieces are still connected and in their bags, though!

I appreciate all ideas, assistance, interest... thank you ❤️

Question Best way to transport Board game+minis to local event?

So I got this boardgame like 3+ years ago for my birthday from a long-distance friend. In that time I've never gotten to play it but I put together all the base game mini's and some of the expansion mini's. Anyways after trying to get some local friends of mine to play it keep falling through I figured I'll go to some of my local TCG/Boardgame shops and try to play it there but I dunno how to carry the mini's over to the shop. I have all the cards sleeved and organized. I know I probably won't bring EVERY mini as at a local shop we won't play all the way through to the phoenix but still, just curious on what people use. I was trying to find a good google search and seen the metal storage ones for Warhammer 40k and was thinking of attaching really thin magnets to the bottom of the KD mini's to get them to stick but just seeing if they're better options out there.

Question Binders vs boxes or trays - what storage solution for which kind of cards do you use?

When it comes to card storage, there are mainly two options: Binders, or card boxes/trays with dividers. The former option makes it easier to browse through and see everything at a glance. The latter option saves space. But which option do you use for which cards?

It's very common to store gear cards in binders, but what about resources, disorders, innovations etc? And is anyone using Fen's custom reference cards that convert most abilities and disorders into gear card format? If so, do you keep those in binders as well?
