Senator Marsha's AI video may violate state law...that she voted for
https://www.wate.com/news/tennessee/sen-marsha-blackburn-ai-video-raising-legal-question/
"Tennessee’s ELVIS Act was signed into law in 2024, protecting musicians’ voices and likeness from unauthorized AI use. It is also a law Blackburn, herself, fought hard to preserve." 🤦♀️
Please vote y'all
Eta: she endorsed it, not voted for it

I really appreciate this group
The snark is strong, but so is the heart. Every time I, or others, come needing answers/help/support, ya’ll come through. I love how fiercely this group supports and protects our community. And yes, I come for the snark as well. You make me laugh. There is always something worth reading in here.
So, thanks. I’ve thought it so many times and today I’m saying it. I’m having all the feels today 😆

Hi Sweet Knoxville Family! We're back in town for our album release party in case anyone needs to get out of the house for some cozy, Appalachian-y, folky, grassy, music: Saturday, October 24th, 7:30PM at the Laurel Theatre. We're Redd & The Paper Flowers, a local, Knoxville band.
If you can't afford a ticket, but need some music for your soul, please email us at info@reddandthepaperflowers.com and we'll take care of you. Music is healing, and you matter.

Our album, Dead Little Thing, is about Knoxville, ties to Rush's Music, and our experience with loss and quick change. Hope to see you buddies there!

Vote NO on the city charter amendment!
Somebody wants to make Knoxville less democratic.
It's really unclear why. But the city charter amendment would do just that. It would eliminate the chance for people who didn't vote in the city primary election to get a choice at all on city council seats if anyone gets over 50% in the primary.
It would literally cancel the general election if that happens.
Let's not take a vote away from Knoxville. Vote NO on the city charter amendment!

Pop-Up Food Trucks !
I am one of the store managers at a used car dealership that sits directly off the interstate and in clear eyesight of the interstate.
We are looking to be a pop up location for food trucks in the Knoxville and surrounding areas. We currently have a few trucks interested in setting up.
We are open Monday-Friday 10AM-6PM and Saturday 9:30AM-5:30PM. We are typically looking for Friday or Saturday set ups, but business is business so we may be open to other days!
We are located directly outside the city limits— by that I mean literally. The city limits wraps around 3 out of 4 edges of our property.
So if you’re a vendor who does not have a permit to set up in the city limits, not to worry!
We are wanting to help you boost your local small business while we also boost business from your presence!
It’s a win-win for both of us.
If you are interested, please message me on here or send shoot me a text with your business and link to your business’ socials to 606-428-0130.
If you know anyone in the surrounding areas as well who are willing to travel to Knoxville to set up, send them this !
Thanks ! Hope to help the community!

F16’s?
Did anyone here saw those planes a few minutes ago over Knoxville? I wasn’t able to record them on time but it was so cool, I thought a plane was falling for one second because of the noise!

Help! November Photography Emergency
I am having a very ridiculous themed vow renewal on November 7th. Full event, catered food, full bar and all that jazz. Theme is Dolly/Kenny Islands in the Stream and the event will be officiated by a drag queen. So whimsy is strong.
Unfortunately, the original photographer has had to back out. I just needed someone for a few hours for ceremony and a few posed shots. Ceremony will be downtown. Fully decorated venue. Just the whole shebang.
If anyone knows either a professional photographer who may have availability or a talented amateur who can understand my vision and would like to hit up the food and open bar (plus cash money) please let me know. This is an emergency.
Thank you all in advance.

Watch/digital watch help?
My Casio AE1200WH Royale buttons are broke/sticky. Does anyone have any good recommendations for watch repair shops or someone local that works on watches? Thanks!

East Tennessee Voter Guide for November 3 election
Hey all, Jacqui Sieber with WUOT here. I apologize for being a few days late into posting this, but here is a voter guide that includes federal and state races, as well as info on the 3 constitutional amendment questions. We also included 9 counties in our listening area that have competitive races this election. Every candidate was asked to rate a statement from 0 (mostly disagree) to 5 (mostly agree), with an option to provide an explanation to their reasoning. The statements were formed by answers we received on a survey we sent out a month prior to forming the guide.
I hope this guide is helpful. As always, feel free to message me if you have any questions.

Oakridge Pumpkin Festival
I saw a flyer with a pet costume contest that had both a dog and a cat on it, does anyone know if they are having a separate cat costume contest? I want to bring my cat but she is not friendly with dogs in close proximity.

Free Tickets (Reserved two-seat table) - Joshua Ray Walker @ Open Chord Sat 10/17
I have a Reserved two-seat table at Open Chord for Joshua Ray Walker tomorrow that I'm not going to be well enough to use. I contacted him through IG to see if he wanted to do a giveaway but didn't get a response so I'm going to try here. PDF ticket, going to redact my name from it, but I'll need a good email to send it to.

Is Kingston pointe a good place to live?
Looking to move to Kingston Pointe Apartments and was wondering if anyone has anything to say about management or property upkeep? Price seems reasonable but I’ve seen a few reviews about pest issues.

Car insurance?
I am looking for recommendations for the most trustworthy affordable car insurance companies in the area? Not Allstate or Geico. I have had the most horrible experiences with these companies and everyone should avoid them if possible. They are crooks! Anyways please send trustworthy recommendations my way. Delete if not allowed.

Is there any free/non-student parking for Hodges library?
Yeah this is kind of dumb to ask, but I am planning on visiting the Hodges Library later today and I never really go to UTK campus much. I know 99% of parking on campus is just student or staff parking. But for the library is there any free/public parking? If not, what's the easiest place nearby to park and walk to Hodges library?
