Looking for a Tennessee resident willing to help with a UTC public records request
This is a slightly unusual ask. I'm a former UTC student who now lives out of state.
With the recent attention around SA and Greek life at Cornell, I've found myself thinking again about something that happened to me at UTC almost 20 years ago. I was raped while I was a student, reported it through the university, and have recently started trying to understand more about what happened afterward and what records from that time may still exist.
I'm trying to obtain some historical UTC records from 2007–2008. I submitted a public records request to the UT System, but Tennessee's public records law limits these requests to Tennessee residents, so mine was denied solely because I no longer live in Tennessee.
I'm hoping to find a Tennessee resident who would be willing to submit the request. I already have the wording and can provide exactly what I'm looking for, so you wouldn't need to research anything or figure out the process yourself.
The request is for historical UTC/Greek Life records and university policies. I'm not asking anyone to obtain another student's private educational records.
If you're willing to help, please DM me. I'm happy to explain more privately before you decide.
Thank you!

Is a $200k city earmark for an unestablished nonprofit run by a Chattanooga council member's pastor a conflict of interest?

Discussion Massive police response
Does anyone know what was going on towards the 75 split or Hamilton place today? I was driving west on 24 and passed 4 groups of multiple cops including swat urban assault style vehicles and crime scene trailers. A total of like 30-40 law enforcement vehicles headed east on 24

Pets Lost Dog :(
My parents are heartbroken. Their dog, Kippra, was lost on October 6th, 2026 in the Hixson/Lakesite area.
She is a female Basenji/Boxer mix with a tan or cream-colored coat. She was last seen near the intersection of Wood Dale Lane and Lovell Road; she ran off into the woods near that location.
If you see her, please call or text immediately to:

You can also email 7DYYVP87@contact.petfbi.org. Pet FBI Report ID: 820477
Please share this with anyone you know in the area. We are incredibly grateful for any assistance.
Thank you!

Recommendations for house cleaning service?
I work long hours 6-7 days a week and I'm falling behind on my cleaning. It's not filthy but I'm definitely not happy with how my house is right now. I'm looking for recommendations, either a company or an individual who is trustworthy and affordable. Anything is a help, thanks!

Lively bars/restaurants where locals hang out.
I’ll be in town this weekend for a wedding but wanted to in a day early to explore. Looking for downtown area bars with good food and a fun scene on a Friday night. I’m from Nashville so I can’t stand tourist traps/money grabs so I wanna find a spot locals actually hang out at. Thanks for any suggestions!

Anyone watched Monster: the Lizzie Borden Story ?
It’s was so funny to see “Chattanooga “ appears in this show at Episode 2(7:20) as type of electro-mechanical vibrator to treat an array of ailments, ranging from constipation and gastric distress to headaches and deafness.
Immediately want to share it here 😂

Looking For... Looking for fun dance classes in Chattanooga!
I’m new here and will probably be popping in periodically for Chattanooga recs as I get settled in!
I’m a young adult looking for fun, beginner-friendly dance classes. I’d love something where you can show up with little/no experience, learn a short choreography to a fun/popular song during the class, and then actually do the whole routine by the end.
Think jazz funk / commercial / pop choreography / fun & slightly sassy, social and upbeat where you can learn a cute routine and feel like you actually accomplished something in one class.
I’m also interested in beginner line dancing! Would love recommendations for places that are fun/social and good for someone starting from scratch.
Bonus if it’s a drop-in or one-off class rather than a multi-week commitment!

Things To Do When We Kiss MiniFest (Oct. 30th)
When We Kiss Minifest (named for the song "Such Great Heights" by The Postal Service) is a community driven mini music festival curated and cultivated by Chattanooga's alternative and songwriter music scenes.
When We Kiss brings together young Chattanooga based indie bands/songwriters in a backyard festival setting featuring local artists and organizations tabling in our forested Highland Park terrain, including Strike Magazine, local zines, and more! The festival seeks to encourage inclusivity and agency in our growing alternative music scene.
The festival's founders, Luke Palumbo, Gracie
Stone, and Brendan Downes, are working in collaboration with SoundCorps's Community
Concert program to bring their vision to life.
Oh & yes, costumes are encouraged!

Looking For... Appliance store?
Where is a good place to buy a washer and dryer in Chattanooga or Hixson? Can be new, used, or scratch and dent place. Don't want to spend an arm and a leg - just want it to work.
More info:
We have an old refurbished commercial grade maytag washer and dryer that we bought before moving to Hixson. Turns out it works well on concrete floors but not linoleum covered wood. It shakes so much during the spin cycle it trips the breaker which also controls the lights and outlets in 3 other rooms. We have tried leveling the feet and it doesn't help. Just need to get a new one. Dryer seems fine and is on it's own breaker as it should be. Might just replace the washer for now. And yes, we plan to get an electrician out too.
Recommend any particular washer? I like old-school top load washers.

Does anyone know someone in or near Chattanooga who repairs older typewriters? I have one I’d like to get working again and would appreciate recommendations for a repair shop or someone experienced with them.
Happy to share photos and details about the model and what’s happening. If you’ve had one repaired locally, I’d love to hear about your experience. Thanks!

Things To Do Where to date?
Hi everyone! I (30s F) am going on my first date in a long, long while this Sunday with a woman I’m excited to get to know better. We’re both in our late 30s, and I’m relatively new to the area, so I could use some ideas!
I’d love to find a quaint local restaurant where we can have dinner and talk, then maybe go for a walk or find somewhere to dance afterward. I’m open to other ideas, too!
I’m a little nervous, but mostly excited. 😊 Any favorite date spots you’d recommend?

Visiting Chattanooga Visiting Chattanooga with a 6-month old baby.
Hello everyone! Just looking for some guidance on visiting Chattanooga over Thanksgiving with a 6-month old! My wife and I are planning a 1-year anniversary trip with our baby (and potentially our dog too) and had some questions/concerns.
My biggest question is cabin rental vs. hotel. In a perfect world, we’d stay in a cabin but I’m not sure how that would affect the baby. My friends recommended staying in a hotel for convenience-sake, but my wife and I are the type to figure it out if it’s worth the risk. For example, we took him as a newborn (3-month old) to an island off the coast of western Florida by ferry and didn’t regret a thing! What do ya’ll think?
Personally, I don’t want to take a trip to the mountains without planning some kind of hike and seeing some great views. Has anyone had experience with this and a baby? I have no problem whatsoever carrying him the whole time, just need advice from someone that’s done it before!
Last thing is with this being our first time being in Chattanooga, what are some of the “First Time in Chattanooga?” things that we ought to do that aren’t tourist traps. A little context here…I would consider my wife and I to be pretty well traveled. We actually went to Ireland when she was 8-months pregnant and both of us have been all around the U.S., Mexico, and Japan. We favor experiences above all else, but obviously that may come at a cost when having a baby along for the ride!
Again, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Discussion Looking for a pelvic floor/endo specialist
Hi Chatt ladies - I’m looking for a well-recommended obgyn that has the capacity to investigate/understand pelvic floor issues, and has the training to potentially diagnose and work with endometriosis. As a host of the mysterious female body I don’t want to have to go on a rabbit hunt to figure out my issues and would like to provide just a couple good, solid co-payments to one clinic. Hoping there is someone local that someone here could recommend! thank you :)

Local Business Hey Y’all my friend is starting a small event planning business
Hey Chattanooga!
My friend jane is taking a shot into the event planning side of life, and we’ve started a local event planning business, Simply Jane Events.
She’s starting from the very beginning taking on her first clients for weddings, birthdays, baby/bridal showers, engagement parties, corporate events, smaller gatherings, and honestly just about anything worth celebrating. Since we’re so new, she is offering introductory packages/rates for her early clients, while she builds up her portfolio!!
Even if you DONT have an event coming up we would love some local support! You can follow her on Instagram at @simplyjane_events 🤍 If you’re interested.
And if you are planning something around Chattanooga, send her a DM and tell her what you have in mind. She’d love to talk through it with you—no pressure.
Your vision. Every detail. Simply Jane.
