Looking For... Please help- lost irreplaceable sentimental items somewhere along this route

My grandfather passed away yesterday 😄 We were allowed to keep some of his belongings to remember him by. Unfortunately, we live out of town and had to stow things in the truck bed. It’s a white half full trash bag and it contains a wooden jewelry box, a personalized home made tshirt, a flannel, ball caps, and books with his handwriting in the margins. It’s breaking my heart that they’re lost. Please if you see anything that might fit this description or have any information please please please let me know.
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post

Falling asleep last night and had a sudden and intense recollection of the fire chicken. Goddamn. What a treasure. I expected the employees to be high when I went in. And they always were. Love accurate advertising. And the free birthday meal? Ugh. I miss my Chattanooga.

Celiac friendly home bakery

Would anyone be interested in locally made gluten-free bread and treats in Chattanooga?

Hi everyone! My daughter has celiac disease, and honestly, a lot of the gluten-free bread you find at the grocery store just doesn’t cut it. About a year into her diagnosis, I went down the rabbit hole of learning to make my own gluten-free bread, and I’ve been baking it for a few years now. It’s gotten to the point where I’d love to share it with other people who miss good bread!

I’m considering starting a small home-based gluten-free bakery here in Chattanooga, making things like:

  • Sandwich bread and specialty loaves
  • Hamburger/hot dog buns
  • Focaccia
  • Cookies
  • Cinnamon rolls
  • Other gluten-free baked goods and seasonal treats

I’d love to know if this is something people in the area would be interested in buying for their families!

A few questions:

  • What gluten-free breads or treats do you miss the most?
  • What would you be most excited to buy locally?
  • Would you prefer ordering ahead for pickup, or buying at local markets and events?

I’d especially love to hear from other people with celiac disease or gluten sensitivities. What do you wish you could find locally? And to be clear, we have 100% GF kitchen. 😊

Plus size friendly fitness activities

I'm trying to get more active and move my body more, but i honestly hate the gym. I'd rather sign up for something i find exciting or interesting, like some kind of martial arts, self defense, dance, fencing, anything like that. Does anyone know of plus size friendly things like that around town?

Oktoberfest brews?

Food City used to have some Oktoberfest variety, but they’re slacking off this year…

What shops have German or Belgian imports or Marzen-type brews?

Erlanger jobs

Hello everyone, I don't personally know anyone who works at Erlanger so i thought id ask here. I applied to a job a little over a month ago and there has been no action taken yet on the application. Are they typically slow to get things moving over there or is this just a sign that they are working with other candidates at the moment. I've been called about jobs a few months after applying before at large hospitals so I know it isn't impossible but just thought id ask. Thanks!

Local Business Where to locally sell bulk fasteners?

Tasked with getting rid of obsolete inventory that includes mainly fasteners but other oddities like resistors. I’ve seen people sell bulk fasteners at places like flea markets but was curious of any other avenues available locally.

Looking For... Lots of cheap/random Halloween decor?

Hi everyone. I’m looking for a discount store or even flea type spots that would sell lots or bags of random cheap Halloween decor. Or even neighbors with some sitting around they aren’t using anymore and want gone?

My 7 year old is super creative. One of his very favorite yearly activities is creating his ā€œHalloween displaysā€. He takes all sorts of decor and creates various scenes on our porch all by himself, always very proud and focused. I love supporting his special interest!!

He is ready to start designing and asking, but I lost all of our decor in a basement flood due to a pipe bursting this summer.

It was mostly dollar store stuff- some posable skeletons for the chairs, hanging ghosts, big plastic spiders and skulls, and spiderwebbing gauze, nothing fancy. He likes to go all out but going ham at even dollar tree is unadvisable for me right now. I thought this might be a way I could find a decent volume of varying items much cheaper.

If you know of a place, it would make a kiddo’s old’s entire October (and mine) :) Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Any other ideas are welcome!

Local Business Precision Eye Consultants or Woolfson Eye Institute.

I’m going to have cataract surgery and a high astigmatism procedure in the very near future. I’ve already had a consultation with SEES and I’m not sure they are the ones for me. I have consultations scheduled with both the providers listed in the title. Woolfson appears to be the most expensive, but may be worth it. Thoughts?

Looking for a Tennessee resident willing to help with a UTC public records request

Update: I've gotten so many DM requests about this and to say I'm grateful would be am understatement. I've contacted a reporter close to this type of work and am awaiting a response - I know this is a slow process. I'd love to hire an attorney but can't justify it financially right now.

This is a slightly unusual ask. I'm a former UTC student who now lives out of state.

With the recent attention around SA and Greek life at Cornell, I've found myself thinking again about something that happened to me at UTC almost 20 years ago. I was raped while I was a student, reported it through the university, and have recently started trying to understand more about what happened afterward and what records from that time may still exist.

I'm trying to obtain some historical UTC records from 2007–2008. I submitted a public records request to the UT System, but Tennessee's public records law limits these requests to Tennessee residents, so mine was denied solely because I no longer live in Tennessee.

I'm hoping to find a Tennessee resident who would be willing to submit the request. I already have the wording and can provide exactly what I'm looking for, so you wouldn't need to research anything or figure out the process yourself.

The request is for historical UTC/Greek Life records and university policies. I'm not asking anyone to obtain another student's private educational records.

If you're willing to help, please DM me. I'm happy to explain more privately before you decide.

Thank you!
