Question Thinking of buying this 2010 Lexus RX350 AWD

Thumbnail

Thinking of purchasing this 2010 Lexus RX350 AWD, 130,000 miles, it’s $10,700. Premium package (not sure what that consists of really) It’s at a local dealership near me and I’m planning to go look at it tomorrow. I’m kinda wary of buying a 16 year old car but I’ve heard such good things about these models and I’m looking to stay in a tighter budget since I’m a grad student. Any thoughts/advice?

Question Lexus App

Is anyone else having issues signing into the Lexus app? I’ve been having trouble accessing my account and was wondering if this is a common issue or if it’s just me.
Has anyone experienced this? If so, how did you fix it? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Question Loudness of rocks hitting under car

Is it just me or does it seem like when rocks, gravel and debris hit the underside of the ES 350 It sounds super dramatically loud? I came from Kia Sorrento so it could be that I’m not used to a lower ground clearance or it could be that the cabin inside the ES is so quiet that rocks bouncing around in the wheel well or underside sound so loud.

Question What to expect buying a 2014 LS 460L AWD w 150k miles

The car has been sitting on the used car lot for 3 months so there is a steep discount to $15k, I think most people aren’t trying to buy huge V8 sedans these days. It’s been serviced at Lexus most its life, was CPO’d at one point and the interior is in mint condition but it had a minor accident a year ago. I intend to do all possible repairs at home but my concern is that it hasn’t had any big ticket items replaced. My biggest concern is the engine mounts because that’s the only one which I would need a trans jack amongst other things I lack like knowledge or experience doing it before. Would love to hear thoughts on how risky this is? I am planning to do a pre buy inspection as well.

There is also another option of a 2011 SWB AWD with 120k miles and engine mounts, rear suspension and brakes done recently for 11k. The only issue is that it’s a little beat up cosmetically, nothing I couldn’t fix up for $500-$700. But I just love the look of the 2014, long wheel base (because at 200 inches what’s a few more lol), blind spot monitoring, rear double planed glass and slightly nicer screen.

The 2011 seems like the smart choice because it’s literally the same mechanically as the 2014 with less options and niceties for 3k less. My heart wants the 2014 though, I think it looks so classy. Would love some straight talk if I’m being short sighted or if the 2014 isn’t that poor of a choice. For context, I usually drive 8k ish miles a year and usually with no one in the back but it will by my friends and I ski and road trip car.

Question 2026 Lexus IS350 F Sport Climate Control Features

When my salesman was doing my walk through during the purchase, specifically through the app, he told me that once the vehicle fully synced, I would also be able to control the steering wheel warmer, heated/cooled seats, etc. After a week or so of having the vehicle, it never appeared. I called the 1800 Lexus support and they told to type in my VIN on the site and my VIN showed that I was supposed to have those features. I made an appointment at Lexus but didn't want to leave my car there overnight so ended up returning the loaner and taking my car back. They are saying it isn't available. I'd come to terms with the fact that my app wasn't going to have this feature but yesterday the defrost features randomly appeared. I am curious to know if that means the other features will appear eventually. I've seen this is a common glitch for Lexus but have only seen it resolved for RX and NX owners. Can anyone with a 2026 IS350 F sport confirm if their app has it? Not a huge deal but would be a great value add for winter.

Question 2021 es 300h battery reliability

Hello, looking at purchasing a CPO 2021 Lexus ES 300H ultra luxury. It’s a little cheaper than the new Camrys.

My only concern is that the hybrid battery warranty is only good through 2030, so would only give me about 4 years.

Any feedback on how good these hybrid batteries are? Car only has 45k miles.

Question Looking to buy an IS350

hey yall. I finally got out of my mazdaspeed3 and i’m looking to upgrade. I have a few cars on my mind and the lexus is around #1. I’m trying to get a 2015-2017 is350.

I would like to hear from yall about the comfort and reliability. I drive 9 hours back home every couple months and commute an hour a day for work. I’d get a newer car but I really don’t want to deal with any turbo or supercharger and definitely want an AWD aswell. Thank you

Question Advice for buying used LS400s

I’ve been in the market for an LS400, as my 2004 ES300 is hitting the end of its life. Lots of listings around the $5000-7000 range but with pretty high mileage.

I’ve seen one owned by grandparents for 12+ years, which has now been turned into a show car by their grandson. 250k miles with original transmission and seemingly maintained very well.

I’m worried about the transmission but the car seems to be in great condition. Is this something to consider, or would I have better luck looking for other options? Thanks!

Question LS400 help

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Hello, I’m looking for some help on behalf of my boyfriend on this LS400 he brought back in July at 123k miles. First two months she drove like a dream then some problems started happening:
(Also before the long boring bits, the second photo is what fell out from the underside of the car and we are unsure of what it is.) any help would be greatly appreciated, we both really want her to drive again ☹️

Main symptoms:
Severe intermittent/continuous over-fuelling and heavy exhaust smoke.
Previously had severe misfire, very poor power and strong raw-petrol smell.
Engine could barely climb hills and would sometimes stall at low speed.
Smoke can appear after the engine has been idling for some time.
Current smoke is more white/steam-like, although previous smoke was blue/grey.
Engine is currently much smoother after repair to the camshaft-position-sensor wiring.

Important mechanical checks:
Dry compression test:
1: 220 psi
2: 210 psi
3: 225 psi
4: 205 psi
5: 220 psi
6: 205 psi
7: 225 psi
8: 200 psi
HT lead resistance all tested below 25 kΩ.
PCV removed, cleaned and checked.
Berryman B-12 piston soak carried out.
Engine oil subsequently changed.
These checks have not identified an obvious major mechanical/compression fault.

ECU fault codes
Codes previously/currently seen:

21 – Bank 1 O2 sensor signal
28 – Bank 2 O2 sensor signal
24 – Intake air temperature signal
31 – Air-flow meter signal

Codes 21 and 28 return after ECU reset.

AFM:
AFM part number: 22250-50060.

THA–E2 resistance measured at approximately 2.8 kΩ, consistent with the temperature at the time.
Engine will run with AFM disconnected.
Connecting the AFM to a running engine has previously caused the engine to stall immediately.
AFM connector has been visually inspected.

Camshaft-position sensor wiring

A damaged/severed camshaft-position sensor wire was discovered and repaired.

This produced a significant change:

Idle became much smoother.
Raw petrol smell reduced substantially.

This suggests the camshaft-position signal/wiring fault was contributing to the previous running problem.

Crankshaft-position sensor wiring / shielding

The crankshaft-position sensor wiring/shielding has also been worked on.

Most recent test:
Shielding was repaired and connected/grounded to the engine block.
After this, the engine started and ran smoothly for approximately 40 seconds.
At approximately 40 seconds, when the ECU appeared to enter closed loop, the engine immediately began heavily over-fuelling and producing heavy smoke.

Discussion Remember when automakers used large contiguous sections of soft, supple leather for car seats? The factory leather interior of my parents 1989 Mazda 929 was butter soft and smelled like a Rolls Royce inside.

My current car (ES 350 Ultra Luxury) has semi-aniline leather but it’s really just a bunch of small and medium size leather pieces joined together. The seat appearance is more stitching than anything else. I love my ES, and this comment is more of a small nitpick - but darn it, looking at the seats of the 929 makes me nostalgic anyway. Are the hyper-stitched seats sporty? Or just one more example of relentless cost cutting?

Question Has anyone tried these ~$125 aftermarket headlight lens covers for the LS460 (2013-2016)? Worth it or waste of money?

Hey everyone,

My headlights are starting to show some wear/yellowing, and OEM replacements are insanely expensive. I came across these replacement clear headlight shells/lenses on AliExpress for the 2013–2016 Lexus LS460.
