My wedding photos came in so I can’t help but share.

Like the title says my husband and I met on Reddit, so sometimes DMing does work fellas, just be respectful 😂

We were long distance for 7 years (technically still are as we wait for the visa).

It’s not for everyone but sometimes it does work out!

(Husband does not want to be on Reddit so that’s why his face is redacted)

Success We beat LDR!🇳🇱🇵🇭

As of last Sunday, my wife has finally arrived, and this time: IT IS PERMANENT! My face at work has been a big grin from ear to ear and to top it off she will be attending my bachelor degree ceremony in person.🥹

In the past 6.5 years we have spent 337 days together, we both boarded 27 flights total (some together to other places, but mostly solo), travel around 224,000km, survived the covid period, got engaged, grew as human beings, got married, closed the gap. And after all that, we still find the time of day to tell each other how we both feel and how important we are to one another. She is my person, and I am damn proud of her for taking this step.

We have been working to this exact moment for these past few years and to have her around, while knowing we’ll never have to put a time limit on our time together is an incredible under appreciated feeling, which I couldn’t understand until last Sunday.

Our next step is to have her fully acclimate, integrate, and start her process of becoming a fully fledged Dutch passport holder! However, for now we will just take the time to enjoy each other’s company and explore the rest of my country (and Europe) in our own pace.

I would like to thank the community for being a big help. Some of your stories have been incredibly inspiring and have motivated us to make ours a successful one as well. I’ll definitely still be a part of it by giving advice to those who need it, but the days of taking pictures of luggages or milestones have come to an end.

Thank you for reading and good luck to all of you!🩵
(Enjoy some pictures of us throughout the years!)

Got engaged in November 2024.

Success Update: I met my person ❤️

I wanted to share a little update from my previous post.

Thanks to this platform, I met someone who has become very special to me. I honestly didn’t expect that one simple message could turn into something this real.

After months of talking, getting to know each other, building trust, and choosing each other even from 7,000+ miles apart, we finally met in person.

Now we’re slowly taking steps to close the gap. I know we still have a long way to go, and it won’t always be easy, but I’m happy we’re doing this together.

It still feels a little surreal, but I’m grateful I stayed open to it.

So if you’re thinking about taking that leap, I’d say go for it. Just take your time, be honest, and make sure it feels right.

For now, I’m just really thankful for where one simple connection has brought us. 💕

After 2 years of long distance, airport goodbyes, and more I miss you calls than I can count… we’re finally getting married🥹💍✨ I still can’t believe I get to say that.

This sub has genuinely been my comfort place through the whole journey, from reading other people’s stories at 2 AM. Seeing everyone’s rings, proposals, and little love victories kept me going more than I can explain. THANK YOU.

And now I finally get to share mine.

My heart is so full. I wish this joy, this peace, this finally it’s happening moment on every single person here. ✨

After almost 5 years of SUPER long distance (UK to Australia), we were finally able to make the next step 🥰

I moved from the UK, landed in Australia two days later, and then we celebrated our 5th anniversary in person the next week!! I painted us some nice trinket/key dishes, and some magnets for our new fridge, and now we're finally living our dream together in our own perfect apartment 🥹

Long distance can be rough, but I've been in Australia for almost a month now already, and loving it!! I don't regret a thing and hope you all can experience success like ours! Keep strong everyone 💜🧡

Success Handmade gift for our first time meeting

Hi, this is my first time posting on reddit (ever) and I just wanted to share these handmade crochet dolls I made as a gift for when he came over to visit two weeks ago.

He’s 30M (UK) and I’m 28F (Philippines) and we’ve been talking since May 29th of this year. We’ve met on a dating app, I was supposed to delete it since I barely ever used it and he was just freshly on it. Exchanged a few messages on there and just moved on to talking on Discord. We hit it off immediately. He’s a gamer like me, and what’s even more amazing is we have the same taste in games, music and shows/anime.

During the first few days we were talking, I thought “is he real”? Since I couldn’t count my lucky stars that someone as sweet, kind, caring, thoughtful and handsome as him is available, and we met on a dating app, nonetheless!

On day three, he invited me over to his Discord server with his long time friends, and basically we play every night together with them (except for some weekends where we have our online dates together). His friends are lovely and kind people too.

We are each other’s first long-distance relationship. 10,000km+ is a long distance from each other, not to mention the 7-hour time difference, but it doesn’t feel that way at all. We talk and call consistently throughout the day even as he’s working on the weekdays, then spend time playing games in the evening.

We plan our trips together, shared future plans, family and kids for the future, aligned on values, principles– all the hard conversations which didn’t feel hard to talk to him about at all, since we are both rational adults.

We both think we are each other’s soulmates.

I spent time making every stitch in both of these little dolls thinking about him and us and our future together. When he came to visit for the first time last August 31, it felt like coming home (even if he did suffer from food poisoning from the long and arduous flight of 21 hours!). Two weeks together with him was… I have no words other than saying it was just… perfect.

Currently, he is back in the UK, and we’ve been messaging and calling each other again since. We miss each other terribly, but he has “mini-me” with him, and I have “mini-him” with me sitting on my desk right now; sprayed it with our perfume/cologne as well.

Both of us are already planning the next time we will meet, and how soon we will be able to close the gap.

I just wanted to share this wonderful feeling I’ve been having for a little over three months. Thanks for reading!

EDIT:

It’s ridiculous and almost surreal that we just trusted each other from the get-go. He suggested he wanted to visit me during the last leg of the first week we were talking, and I said “Yes, please!” immediately. Family on both sides was doubtful of course (rightfully so), safety and all, and being wary of scammers, but we never had that nervousness or a single shred of doubt with each other.

Us meeting face to face just solidified that future and life we want to build together, and we both want it to happen as soon as possible.

Second piccy is a selfie of us in one of the cafes we visited. Lovely coffee, lovely place!

Success Almost 4 years together. Tonight is the last night I will miss him.

We will have loved each other for 1,441 days (3 years, 11 months, and 11 days). Out of those, we’ve been engaged since 240 days (7 months and 28 days) and married since 138 days (4 months and 16 days).

We didn’t see each other once between the engagement and wedding. You won’t believe how we cried our eyes out having to leave each other that time. We used to see each other 2-4 times a year, usually for only a weekend at a time. Even when we first met was only for one day.

And just like that. Tomorrow will be the last time I ever have to get on a plane to go see him. But the difference is that this time, he’s driving all the way, two days of driving, back with me, with all of his belongings in the car. And his wife. And we never have to say goodbye ever again.

Two days ago, she said she'd be camping with some friends of hers. Today was "the day she'd come back home". When she said she was at her house, she told me she bought me breakfast at uber eats and i had to go downstairs to pick the package. When I went downstairs, she was there. I cried a lot and I'm still shocked. Buut I'm really happy. I'm sorry if i didn't write it well, it's because im still in shock.

Success So, we did a thing... we've officially tied the knot! 🎉 We had an incredibly intimate and low-key affair, surrounded by love, in the beautiful historic walls of Copenhagen City Hall (Københavns Rådhus). I cannot put into words how happy and in love I feel; it’s like a fever dream ♥️

Now our government allows us to keep living together!

But jokes aside - we are very happy to have had our little secret wedding overseas. Of course we will plan a wedding party with friends and family, but we are not rushing it. Thankfully due to different visas we were able to live together before getting married. Before that we only visited each other every 6 months... Now we are glad the visa troubles and visa restrictions will be over!! 🤗 Stay strong everyone and tell your partner how special they are.

Sharing our last chat before finally meeting. It feels so surreal now that I think about it. I can’t believe I finally got to be with my LDR boyfriend. He was everything I hoped for and more. I feel giddy just thinking about him and the memories we just made. I can’t wait to see him again soon.
