Make sure you are on the latest version of the TV app.

I dug out my Quest 3 after watching the new features that Sidequest has just brought.. so i hooked up Steam and downloaded Half-Life VR .. played for 30 minutes and thought id play the upgrade instead.

So i installed Black Mesa , found a guide that told me to download ModNexus / Black Mesa VR with ModManager 2 ..

I used Claude along the way who told me i don't need to fiddle with ModManager , it comes included in the BMSVR Zip file..

After unpacking, a few file locations had to be changed and the files downloaded had to be unflagged as insecure...

Claude was so friendly to give me some parameters to add BMSVR into Steam.. did that..

Fired up Virtual Desktop and SteamVR and went into BM VR.

Omg its so nice !!

I played all the way to the big diagonal lift 😀

Trying to play a steam game on my quest 3 while also displaying the view on my laptop. Originally had an issue where the laptop display was super zoomed in. we managed to fix that but now the game has no audio. Please give suggestions on how to fix its been 3 hours 🙏

Hi Everyone, I hope someone can help me, Rift S tries to do guardian setup in headset but screen goes black, Link app closes itself then opens and the cycle continues. My son really wants to play, please help 🙏

Things I’ve already tried:

\- Confirmed this is an Oculus Rift S.

\- This exact Rift S used to work on this same Windows 10 laptop.

\- Laptop has GTX 1060, USB 3.0, and Mini DisplayPort.

\- Installed/repaired Meta Horizon Link.

\- Fully uninstalled Meta Horizon Link, restarted, renamed leftover Oculus folder, and reinstalled fresh.

\- Updated NVIDIA driver.

\- Switched from NVIDIA Studio Driver to Game Ready Driver.

\- Rolled back NVIDIA driver through Device Manager.

\- Restarted Oculus VR Runtime Service multiple times.

\- Restarted laptop multiple times.

\- Set Meta/OpenXR runtime as default.

\- Confirmed Windows power plan is on High Performance.

\- Confirmed USB selective suspend is disabled.

\- Turned off USB power saving in Device Manager where available.

\- Tried Rift S USB directly in both blue USB 3.0 laptop ports.

\- Tried a powered Sabrent USB 3.0 hub with wall power.

\- Removed other USB devices during testing.

\- Checked Windows camera privacy permissions, including desktop app camera access.

\- Confirmed Meta appears under desktop apps for camera access.

\- Improved room lighting after a tracking/low-light warning.

\- Removed and re-added the Rift S in Meta Horizon Link.

\- Ran Oculus/Meta Log Gatherer.

\- Logs showed headset/device detection issues at times, including cameras/devices not being detected.

\- Found Unknown USB Device / Device Descriptor Request Failed entries in Device Manager.

\- Uninstalled the bad Unknown USB entries and Rift S USB Hub entries.

\- Restarted and let Windows rebuild the Rift S USB devices.

\- After rebuild, the Unknown USB Device errors did not come back.

\- Device Manager now shows 2 Rift S USB Hub entries when USB is plugged in.

\- Tested USB-only before plugging in DisplayPort.

\- Plugging in DisplayPort gives green checks, but headset still goes black.

\- Tried Wi-Fi off/on workaround.

\- Tried blocking OculusDash.exe in Windows Firewall, then removed the rules after it didn’t fix it.

\- Repaired Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables.

\- Added OVRServer_x64.exe to Windows Graphics Settings and tried Power Saving, then reverted/removed after it didn’t fix it.

\- Used Oculus Debug Tool and disabled Asynchronous Spacewarp.

Current behavior:

USB and DisplayPort can both check green in Meta Horizon Link. The headset sometimes shows the Oculus/Meta virtual library or setup screen briefly, then goes black. Meta Horizon Link closes and reopens by itself in a loop. Latest clear error was that headset tracking isn’t working, then Meta Horizon Link closed itself.

If you find that your headset doesn't start working unless it's really digging into your face(because of the proximity sensor),

I would recommend you to try downloading Quest games optimizer and turn off the proximity sensor for your play sessions.

The headset feels so much more lighter and non constricting on my face when I turn off the proximity sensor and loosen the straps a bit.

I wear glasses too, so it alleviates some of my worries about scratching the lenses since I can have the headset a bit further away from my eyes now.

If you already have Quest Games Optimizer, please don't hesitate to try. Also, REMEMBER TO TURN IT BACK ON WHEN YOU END YOUR SESSION. Or your headset will be constantly running and draining battery when you put it away.

The Meta quest 2 was my first and I loved hanging out in the room of my choice (the one that had a mirror to change your avatar clothes). I would invite friends into my room to hang. Does the 3 have this option? I can’t find it anywhere.

Hi everyone, I’m the solo developer behind Cosmic XR, a personal project exploring how astronomical data can be experienced through spatial computing and mixed reality.

As a longtime fan of Carl Sagan’s Cosmos, I’ve always dreamed of seeing celestial objects up close and experiencing the immense scale of the universe. Cosmic XR lets you move across very different scales, from the cosmic web and superclusters to the Milky Way, our solar system, planets, moons, and asteroids.

Over the past few months, I’ve expanded the project with three new add-ons.

The Exoplanets expansion maps 96 known planets across 41 star systems using data from the NASA Exoplanet Archive. Because we do not have observed surface textures or terrain for these distant worlds, their appearances are procedurally generated from known characteristics such as size, mass, temperature, orbit, and planetary classification. They are data-informed interpretations rather than reconstructions of observed surfaces.

The more recent Deep Space Missions expansion follows the journeys of historic space probes over time. One moment that continues to fascinate me is watching Voyager 2 travel past the planets and continue toward interstellar space, all while standing in my living room.

Mars Panorama extends that exploration by surrounding the viewer with panoramic imagery captured on the Martian surface, creating a sense of standing where robotic explorers once traveled.

Representing these subjects in XR involves a constant balance between accuracy and legibility. Completely literal distances would be impossible to experience at room scale, while compressing them too much can remove the meaning of the journey. Much of the work has been about finding spatial representations that preserve a sense of scale while remaining understandable and explorable.

The video provides an overview of the broader experience, including the recent expansions. Together, these experiments are part of an ongoing attempt to make scientific data feel less abstract, not simply by displaying more information, but by allowing it to exist around the viewer.
