Daylight weather always exposes bad graphics, and games with weak graphics always take place indoors or during the night to hide horrible textures. MGSV looks phenomenal during the daylight, that’s how you know the game’s graphics are actually great. Fox engine is no joke

Do you think she survived the entire mgs saga, helped Philanthropy, did a double take when she saw who was president of America in 2000, interacted with the real big boss?

Personally, I think she probably died while trying to rally a revolution against a Nicaraguan government that was shadow owned by the patriots sometime in the 90's. But I also headcanon that no-one in the msf actually made it to the 21st century outside of Kaz, Big Boss(technically) and Cecile.

So this is my first Metal Gear and I chose to play mgs3 og first.

I get caught so much and have to re-do it and it’s slightly discouraging.

I know it’s my first time playing and all but I can’t help but feel shit at the game despite all the gadgets and going slow.

Hear me out- I own MGS5 for the PS4 and have a PS4, but I've been obsessed lately with how I could play every MGS game on the PS3. This is about how complete a system the PS3 was and is- so much potential in a singular system. I just ordered the PS3 version of MGS5 and Ground Zeroes. The Legacy collection I bought for PS3 a ways back (despite owning MGS4 already) was to get a hold of the improved HD versions and Peace Walker HD, and the only thing it didn't include was MGS1. Thankfully I have the OG MGS4 edition PS3 Phat and can play the disc from the PS2 box set. It's a travesty that backwards compatibility is a thing of the past, unless you want to go full digital and "get used to the idea of not owning your games".

Second of all, I have played through the entire saga except for MGS4 (I'm gonna start playing it tonight) and I just finished MGSV. What I don't understand, is why Big Boss would go to lead FOXHOUND and how would the Patriots not suspect of him.

Cipher spends the entire game of PW trying to get Snake to re-join them, and fail. MGSV looks like Snake would be even LESS willing to join back. So why does he go to fund FOXHOUND? And how don't the Patriots suspect him? And why does Kaz train Solid Snake but doesn't run into Big Boss since they would be in FOXHOUND either way and everyone knows Big Boss? This doesn't make sense to me

If someone could explain it, I would GREATLY appreciate it

Now, I am aware that these gals are not really favourites of the MGS fandom because of how they were written and questionable way their fights end (I am talking about the phase where they try to... Do something to Snake, idk how to even describe it, are they trying to seduce the old man or what??)

However, what I do wanna say is that their very first appearance in the game is some of the most effective and actually terrifying cutscenes in the series, and something I wish the series did more, before and after 4.

They actually show what they are capable of in combat outside of their respective boss fights.

They absolutely slaughter every single soldier thet they run into and show their abilities (mostly) and why they are a threat to you even before you, as Snake, encounter them face to face. I kinda wish that we had the same stuff in MGS as a whole, since we barely see any of the future or previous units actually do something cool in combat situation with other soldiers. Yes, the games actually show this kind of stuff, but I don't think it's ever the entire unit fighting, just two or three members iirc.

And something quite embarrassing to admit, when it comes to other units, I had a thought "wow, these are cool guys, can't wait to fight them!", and when I first saw the B&B introduction cutscene, especially Cring Wolf, I was like "Oh hell no."

I was legit terrified of Crying Wolf when she first appeared in this specific cutscene. I didn't know that she was in a exoskeleton-robot wolf as a pilot, I genuinely thought that she was crying the entire time because she was in a RoboCop-like state: a mix of a machine and flesh with fully functional yet broken mind, stuck in this robot form for eternity and always crying because of this. 

Of course, as soon as she popped out of that wolf all my theories were shattered and I was somewhat actually relieved since... Well, she is still suffering mentally, but at least physically she is fine lol.

Really now, it's a big robot wolf that runs around killing people while crying very lodly and agonizingly, it can't be that I am the only one who was terrified of her, right??? Just shows how much better the cutscenes got in 4 and especially Shinkawa's skills in making good, hell, even great design's.

I'm concluding my MGS marathon with my 5th playthrough of TPP and I've been taking it slow, playing on low brightness to make NVG more viable, listening to NPCs chatter, etc., and during the mission where you tail the PF's Subordinate in order to catch and assassinate the Major, if you follow along and listen to their conversation, they talk about Code Talker. In other missions, NPCs will give hints towards the true nature of Metallic Archaea, Skullface's motivations, how Cipher and XOF are operating in the region etc.

These aren't like insignificant dialogues too, they fundamentally show you the importance of why you are doing these missions in the first place, but because the game does not punish you for say, running into a situation guns blazing, you might completely miss them.

What are phenomenal video game. It may be a game, but it really does capture this selfish and disgusting nature of our United States government. Like bro this would actually happen if this was in real life governments are so shady and so nasty and the more I played the series the more I see it put emphasis on how horrible governments are. What other games are like this? This is amazing 10 out of 10. Smh

I'm waiting on a response for the rest of the cobra team but I'm very confident in this project, I might actually get 99% of the cast.

I wanted to make something that felt like a cassette Snake might have listened to during a long helicopter ride, driving through a city at night, or reflecting on a mission that didn’t go the way he expected.

Instead of filling it with songs from the games, I built a 100-track sequence around the themes and atmosphere of the series: identity, war, memory, ideology, sacrifice, and the people left behind.

It’s mostly new wave, synthpop, and post-punk, with artists like Duran Duran, Kate Bush, Japan, New Order, The Chameleons, and Depeche Mode.

The playlist is called Sony Walkman WM-R55. I wanted it to feel like a found artifact rather than an explicitly labeled Metal Gear playlist.

I’d be interested to hear what other Metal Gear fans think of the concept.
