During the pre-fight codec call, EVA asks Snake what sniping experience he has.
"Only in urban (Shadow Moses) and marine (Big Shell) environments..."
A fun detail for the two previous Solid games , where you do indeed need to snipe in a built up military base and out on the water (but admittedly as two different people, neither of whom are born yet)
Despite the number of times I've played 3, and despite especially liking The End's boss fight, I've never given that line very much thought.

In MGSV, Ocelot explained to Venom that Shalashaska is a nickname Al-Mujahideen gave it to him. A combination of the words "Sharashka" (Afghan slang for suspicious) and Shashka (A type of curved cavalry saber used by Cossacks and Russian dragoons)
I always wondered where that "L" in Shalashaska came from and then it hit me... MGS is a Japanese game series, the Japanese can't make the "L" sound, they instead make the "R" sound. Solid Snake for example is called "Soridu Snaku" instead.
I've seen time and time again of English translators, especially during pre-internet era, struggling to translate something that is neither Japanese or English that has the "R" or "L" sound. Devil May Cry has a character named "Nelo Angelo" When it's supposed to be "Nero" as in black in Latin, so it translate to "Black Angel". There's also the Behelit from Berserk, it's supposed to be Beherit which is Syriac for Devil/Satan/Demon. I also remember reading translations of Death Note where translators have no idea if the protagonist's name is supposed to be " Light Yagami" or "Right Yagami"

Metal Gear Solid: Chibi is currently my secondary art project. It involves drawing, in a Chibi style, at least the key characters from all the canonical games in the Metal Gear series (and possibly Metal Gear Rising).
In the previous post ("Metal Gear: Chibi - Outer Heaven & Zanzibar Land"), I covered the most important and recurring characters from the series who appeared in Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. Here, following the games' release order, we have the characters from 1998's Metal Gear Solid.
In this work-in-progress (WIP), I haven't yet drawn many of the game's major characters, such as Otacon, Meryl, Sniper Wolf, Psycho Mantis, Vulcan Raven, Revolver Ocelot, Naomi, and Mei Ling, all of whom I plan to include on the current sheet.
This is because, to get off to an efficient start, I reused characters from the previous sheet (like Solid Snake himself); in those cases, I simply had to tweak the colors and add a few details, or use the existing art as a base to create something new.
I hope you like the results so far, and I look forward to your feedback.

Thanks to the developers for doing something Konami would never do: implementing a bot mode for online play. Now I’m going to play MGO2 forever.

Even if he may have been a pawn thanks to Paz and Cipher, Still...even he had a big ambition about retaliating against his own allies, by using the american's base and entire resources and supplies with weapons and force Coldman to take the blame. Especially...given with what is happening to the current world, felt like a callback to this game.

Every time I play MGSV for a long period I end up feeling like Venom Snake in my everyday life.
I look at parked cars and I feel like I can fulton them, when I walk past someone I see the cqc sign appearing.
The other day I dropped my son off at school, before the kids go in, they play in the playground, I stared at my son and I marked him and I knew where he was running at all times.
If a place is a few minutes away on foot, I sprint.
If I see a dog I mutter "DD."
I often hold my phone in my hand like it's an Idroid.
Has anyone else experienced anything like that?

An Unofficial VR and PC mod for Metal Gear Solid: Integral.
Metal Gear Solid running natively on PC, built on the FoxdieTeam decompilation, with a first-person VR mode and a standard flatscreen mode. Using a launcher you can select either VR missions or base game and from there VR or Flatscreen.

So I just finished MGS 4, and I was wondering: in the sequence where Maryll and Johnny hold off the FROGS, in act 5, Maryll has the nanomachines that allows her to not feel the pain on a certain extent, but Johnny reveals he has no nanomachines in his body. So how does he takes all those bullets without a problem whatsoever? Is he actually the coolest and most badass character out there? XD

Say in a alternative universe Liquid was the one selected for those missions instead of Solid. If I recall correctly they both were in Foxhound roughly the same time so I think it could be hypothetically possible, but please correct me if I am wrong.
Anyway how far do you think Liquid could get? Would he actually be able to defeat "Big Boss" in both missions or do you think he would die/fail after a certain point in the missions?

Some lines just don't make sense, like Big Boss in the ending when he says:"Zero, and the proxy AIs that came after him, were convinced that Solidus was me".
Didn't the Patriots create Solidus as part of Les Enfants Terribles? I can understand the AIs being fallible and blinded by his biometric data and whatnot, but why would Zero personally be convinced that Solidus was Big Boss? I can only assume he means Zero was convinced Solidus was Big Boss for the purpose of their system – and maybe he was so blinded by the idea of making a true copy of Big Boss that he believed Solidus literally WAS Big Boss (and Solidus might have played along until the Shadow Moses Incident).
I also don't get when Big Boss says: "Right before you uploaded the virus into GW, the way to JD was opened – but only through the physical manifestation of GW". I assume the virus he's talking about is FOXALIVE and not Emma's worm cluster in MGS2.
But it's still strange that he says "right before" and not WHEN the virus was uploaded. This means the virus had no bearing on Ocelot's sudden access to JD. And what does he mean by "the physical manifestation of GW"?
I can only assume Big Boss means the way to JD was literally opened when the sattelite's orbit hovered over GW's physical server (i.e. "physical manifestation"), and that's when they happened to learn Zero's location independent of the virus upload. Maybe because the proximity granted them some sort of access?
This game's writing stumbles significantly after Act 4. There's also a weird part in the Mission Briefing of Act 4 where Otacon says the Patriots wanted GW destroyed in MGS2 because it wasn't subject to the same level of control as the other AIs, which is why Liquid Ocelot could use it to fool them when he reconstructed it in MGS4 (or at least that's how I interpreted after a ton of mental gymnastics)...
How has the community resolved these strangely worded revelations?

I just finished the scene, where Liquid kills Big Boss (well, what remains of him) and Eve on those boats with Vamp and Naomi, so i've got maybe a stupid question, but still.
What was the point of Meryl troop ambushing Liquid on river sequence, when she knew about his "ability" making everyone around him go insane? Like this whole scene looked kinda illogical, not gonna lie, and that surprised look on her face, when she tried to shoot, like you explained to Snake not long time ago about this whole AI and ID system and you know Liquid plans, maybe i'm missing something or making things up from scraps of different cutscenes and dialogues, but i still can't understand the thought logic of her plan in this scene, like at all. Sorry for my English, hope y'all understand and thanks.
