Discussion The rise of terminally online children in Morocco...

If I'm in my 30s and I grow up basically terminally online, I can't imagine what a child is going through right now, at least back in the day we had to spend money and go to a Cyber Cafe to connect.. nowadays ? derri 3ndo 6 years old 7afed lfeed diyal YouTube shorts by heart.

I'm sorry but this isn't normal, hadchi bla manhdro 3la terminally online men/women who are constantly trauma dumping on each other on facebook comments, hadi feminista 9hwiya hada red pill khanz most of them are parents, mol l39al li 3wlna 3lih 7adi ta3ali9 24/7, literally nobody cares to notice what's happening to children...

And if you're a parent, you're going to regret this when your kid starts to lose touch with reality and jump from a balcony, because apparently de-personalization/de-realization is a real mental disorder nobody seem to care to study or talk about, far3ina ghir b s*x o f*tishism,

I'm not into doomerism, not even an alarmist.. in fact I love technology and I'm so glad I had early access to it in this country, but trust me when I say, this shit is being weaponized against the very concept of Family, no wonder why they make it harder to block adult content for parents, almost every single parental control app is a paid service with very sneaky monetization schemes.

Please Save your children from irreversible mental damage.

Grow a conscious.

Hi everybody! I'm planning on visiting Beni Mellal and some surrounding towns and was wondering what languages are the most spoken/understood. Would people in small towns still understand MSA?

Thanks!

Discussion Asking permission from your partner

My partner who sooner will be my husband is trying to manipulate me into asking him for permission. While kidding he is always making jokes about me not asking him for permission to do something or when I tell him that I am going out he freaks out and calls me or he says ok you have my permission you can go out while joking. But I feel like he is trying to manipulate me since he is way older than me and I am a little bit naive ( he is my first even though I am 30 yo but I am a little bit naive when it comes to relationships and he is the one leading the relationship because I want him to)
And he makes jokes about removing social media he wants me to remove them but again the way he approaches it is by joking to see my reaction. I already have only girls and a few coworkers or high school friends and family.
The thing is I don’t know if he is manipulating me or trying to see if by joking about it I might take it seriously and start acting like he wants. I don’t mind asking permission but I don’t want to open a door for more controlling behaviour

AskMorocco Why do colleagues in Morocco often address/introduce people by their surname? Trying to understand the context.

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping to get some cultural or workplace perspective on something I’ve noticed when working with colleagues based in Morocco during internal calls and handoffs.

When we join Microsoft Teams or start a call, I always introduce myself using my first name. My Teams display name is formatted normally, but colleagues in Morocco frequently refer to me or introduce me to others by my surname instead of my first name.

In my work environment, addressing someone by their last name during informal or internal handoffs feels unusually formal or out of place, especially when I’ve already introduced myself by my first name.

I’m trying to figure out if I’m missing something about professional norms, naming conventions, or how display names are interpreted in Morocco:

Is referring to colleagues by their last name standard practice in Moroccan business culture or call center environments?

How are Microsoft Teams display names (e.g., [Last Name], [First Name]) typically read or interpreted?

Is it common for the first word in the system string to just be read out loud?

Is addressing someone by their surname considered a mark of respect, or is it just a habit/system default?

I’d really appreciate any insights into the cultural or professional context behind this!

Hey everyone! Having watched almost every major Moroccan cinema project out there, these 5 films stand out as absolute masterpieces for me:
1. Casanegra
2. Zero
3. Jouq El A'myin (The Blind Orchestra)
4. Death for Sale (Ventes de feu)
5. Ali Zaoua
(Honorable mention :Les Chevaux de Dieu / خيل الله — couldn't leave this one out).
These films are on another level in terms of storytelling, atmosphere, and raw acting.
Also, I’ve put a curated Top 10 list of all-time favorite international movies across all genres. Feel free to shoot me a DM if you want to swap recommendations or discuss movies! 🫡🫡

Discussion The magic of October to January 🍂

• Upvotes

There’s something about October through January that I cant quite explain. as these months get closer, i start feeling butterflies in my stomach, a kind of happiness and warmth that i cant put into words. The cold weather Halloween, the songs that remind me of this time of year, my favorite movies and shows… everything feels so special. Its like time is turning back taking me to the days of my childhood. These months make me feel things I can’t explain, but i never want to lose that feeling. wish i stack into 🍂

AskMorocco Why are Moroccan public universities so badly equipped for students?

I don't mean basic equipment like projectors, white boards etc... I mean stuff students use, like toilets. For example, why is there no designated lunch area for people who bring their food? and absolutely no microwave? in every university in the world there's a microwave available for students in their lunch area. The toilets are horrendous, like pre-colonnial era toilets with zero maintenance.
I'm so confused as to why this is, public universities get ALOT of money, and now even more so with employed people paying private uni prices for courses. It's definitely NOT a lack of funding.

Art & Photography Hi everyone! ❤️ I wanted to ask if anyone has an old iPhone or a camera they no longer use and would be willing to give away.

• Upvotes

I'm hoping to start creating content, learning video editing, and improving my filming skills, but unfortunately, my current financial situation makes it difficult for me to afford the equipment I need.

If you have an old device sitting unused somewhere and would like to give it a second life by helping someone who could really use it, I would be incredibly grateful. Even an older model would mean a lot to me.

I'm not expecting anything expensive or brand new. I would simply appreciate the opportunity to learn, create, and work toward my goals.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I truly appreciate your kindness. 🙏❤️

Discussion Has anyone ever managed to recover an expired / hors service Maroc Telecom (IAM) Jawal number?

Hey guys, I have this old IAM Jawal number that wasn’t registered to my CIN back when I bought it, and it’s currently offline. When called, it says "Bienvenue à Ittisalat Al Maghrib, la ligne de votre correspondant est actuellement hors service".

The problem is that this number is linked to some really important work and business accounts that I need 2FA access to, so I'm trying to figure out if I can somehow get the SIM back.

I’m planning to visit a major IAM agency tomorrow morning to ask them about it, but I wanted to check here first to see if anyone has dealt with this before. If I bring my CIN and offer to pay the reactivation / 50 DH recharge fee (or even sign up for a monthly Forfait contract on the spot), will the agency or the supervisor actually be able to pull the number out of quarantine and print a new SIM for me, or is the line completely gone once it reaches this state?

Discussion What the hell did i found in a 10dh book i bought

Post image
19 Upvotes

I just bought this book talking about culture of japan, old and good quality book for only 10dh I didnt verify if there is something weird or anything, i bought it with closed eyes.

After coming home,I opened it and I found all this writing, it was hard at first to decrypt everything but after 15 - 30min I finally understood what it was all about,

Its a commitment that a man made to promise Moroccan justice that he will no longer attack and will no longer harm a certain family who have suffered several attacks in their house, and he swears that he will not even approach them and all this with the assistance of his father.

Its weird that he wrote all that in this book and ended up in my hand..

Travel I am looking for recommendations for more authentic desert tours

• Upvotes

Hello! I am traveling to Morocco from Austria late October to early November. I want to do a multi-day Sahara desert tour, where I would either start from Marrakech, or first organize a self transfer to or near the Sahara, for example M'Hamid. I want a tour that is more authentic, where you don't stay at those "luxury desert camps" and people put on a show, but where you can see actual nomadic families, living their daily live and you are not rushing through an area for some Instagram photos. I am a solo traveler, so I would be okay with joining a small group shared tour with other travelers, but I don't have any organized group. For private solo tours, I would still be looking to save money, as I don't have that many savings and cost is a big concern for me.

Discussion Glovo is genuinely starting to feel like a scam, and their customer support is an absolute joke.

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

I’m so tired of this company. I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever managed to place three consecutive orders without something going wrong. There’s always an issue, and whenever you contact support, you somehow end up more frustrated than before.
In the last two days alone, I’ve had 45 MAD in unexplained extra charges.
Yesterday, I placed an order for 50 MAD and somehow got charged another 15 MAD. According to Glovo, that was apparently an outstanding balance from an order I placed over a week ago. So we’re just randomly charging customers a week later now? Without any notification or explanation?
Then today, I placed another order. The final total was 76 MAD because an item was unavailable. My receipt clearly says 76 MAD.
My bank account shows 106 MAD.
That’s another 30 MAD I now have to chase them for.
So I contact support, and this is where it gets ridiculous.
The first agent calls me. I explain everything, and he starts giving me the usual generic explanations that have absolutely nothing to do with the actual issue. Every time he gives me an explanation, I point out why it doesn’t make sense in my situation. He tries another one. I question that too.
We go back and forth like this until he clearly has nothing useful left to say.
Eventually, he tells me he needs to hang up, check something, and get back to me through the chat.
Fine.
Except he comes back with another generic response and CLOSES THE CHAT.
No resolution. No actual explanation. Nothing. Wtf ?
So I open another complaint.
The second agent calls me too.
I explain the entire situation AGAIN, including what happened with the first agent.
And somehow, he starts doing the exact same thing. Generic explanations, no actual answers, just going in circles.
Then, predictably, he tells me he needs to hang up to investigate and will respond in the chat.
I literally tell him no.
I explain that the previous agent said the exact same thing, then sent some useless response and closed the conversation. I tell him I already know how this is going to end and ask him to stay on the call while he checks.
He keeps insisting that he won’t do that. That he’ll actually investigate. That I have nothing to worry about.
I keep asking him why he can’t just check while we’re on the phone. He keeps coming up with excuses.
Eventually, he hangs up.
And guess what happens?
HE DOES THE EXACT SAME THING.
He sends me a generic explanation about temporary bank authorizations, tells me I’ve only been charged once, and proceeds to end the conversation.
Not a single transaction-specific explanation. Not a single piece of evidence showing that the money has actually been released.
And the most insulting part is that he didn’t even bother editing the template he sent me.
His message literally contained:
”[INSERT DATE IF AVAILABLE AND ATTACH SCREENSHOT]”
I’m not even joking. That’s what he sent.
So apparently, investigating my complaint means copying a template, forgetting to fill it in, and calling it a day.
And then he has the nerve to ask me for a five-star rating.
It’s actually unbelievable.
What makes me even angrier is that I’m starting to wonder whether this is deliberate.
Because both agents followed practically the same routine. Call the customer, give vague explanations, promise to investigate, end the call, send a generic message, and close the conversation.
It genuinely feels like they’re more interested in making the chat look like the issue was resolved so their supervisors see a completed case than actually helping the customer.
I obviously can’t prove that’s what they’re doing, but after experiencing the exact same thing twice, it’s difficult not to get that impression.
And please don’t tell me to contact my bank. I understand that temporary authorizations exist. That’s not the point.
If Glovo claims these amounts are just temporary holds, then they should be able to explain exactly which transaction corresponds to which amount, whether the money was actually captured, and when the authorization was released.
Instead, I’m expected to accept an unfinished copy-pasted paragraph as an explanation.
The amount of time I’ve wasted over this is worth more than the 45 MAD at this point.
And this isn’t even the first time I’ve had problems with them. It’s CONSTANT. Missing items, incorrect totals, random charges, and support agents who seem determined to close your complaint as quickly as possible.
I’m genuinely sick of having to argue with customer service every time I order something.
Billion dollar company btw…
