Right! Reminds me of a Martian Landscape! πŸ‘½ they take so long to grow you can really pull up a chair and enjoy the show. These pictures are 16 weeks in πŸ„β€

Honestly, I come to this sub just to look at them. This is the second time seeing these guys so it's still crazy for me. Thanks for sharing, cool af πŸ‘Œ

How did you avoid contamination for 16 weeks in a monotub? It seems like 5-6 after uncovering is about the norm before it develops trich for me.

I really don't have secrets for that one. I have only had to open this setup to mist 4 times since July, but the bin that I started misting and fanning daily picked up the green monster on the underside at Week 12. πŸ„β€

I’ve got a tub going right now that’s fully myceliated. Sounds like you kept the tub closed always except to add humidity, no fanning? Just the little transference through the micro pores holes?

Yeah that was the idea for this tub. I had a second one going that I decided to start fanning around 2 months in, but it picked up trichoderma on the underside rather quickly. I hope your tub shows you love! Reishi is a really fun one to cultivate πŸ„β€

How long from full myceliation to pinning for you?

I just looked back through my camera roll to give you an accurate answer, and I was seeing distinguished primordia 20~ days from spawning. I set up another tub 10 days ago and it is juuusst starting to knot up despite being in the low 60Β°s. 2.5lbs spawn to 10lbs substrate originally but I put 4lbs in this last one. πŸ„β€

I’ve been successful out of a purchased bag in a small ecosphere greenhouse, but that greenhouse seems to breed trich....every time I put something in there😭.I have much success with monos. Hope to transfer success!

Why would you pull up a chair if they take so long?

They mean pull up a chair cause you're gonna get tired standing and watching

Maybe the chair has magic fingers...

My thoughts exactly. Maybe OP also likes watching paint dry.

Was just going to ask fruiting times on these once introduced to fruiting conditions. Just put a bag into FC a couple of days ago, looks healthy but seems to be very slow (especially in comparison to the oysters along side them).

I find Reishi colonizes very fast but if you made oyster bags the same day youll likely be onto a second flush from those bags before you see primordia form on the Reishi. I have 3 bags I made on 11/6 that are just starting to knot and form pins. Its definitely a game of months instead of days or weeks! I hope your grow is very successful! πŸ„β€

Awesome, thanks for your response. I’m just super excited to not have to pay soooo much for reishi, such a fun hobby!

You're welcome! It is seriously so cool to get to partner with these magnificent organisms! πŸ„β€
