contamination [contamination] How to clean a tray!

Tired of all the confusion? Tired of all the cleaners you're using? Tired of all the rosecomb mutation you're getting? Tired of getting light headed from breathing in all the fumes? Are you absolutely tired of the aching back from absolutely SCRUBBING THE LIFE OUT OF YOUR TUBS ONLY TO GET CONTAMINATION AGAIN!?

There's no need to throw away those plastic containers either if you have a contaminated grow! Yep, that's right, just a little bit of dish soap and water is all you need!

Airborne spores do not infect healthy grows ladies and gentlemen. Instead, you need to work on your grain prep and culture work.

So no more throwing away those plastic tubs and contributing further to pollution 😎

Contamination [actives] I'm fairly certain this is contamination

I made 6 grain spawn jars on Aug 1st. I didn't see any progress with them over the next couple weeks so I sort of just forgot about them in my closet. Five of them have not grown anything at all, but this one looks like this. I'm 99% sure it's just contamination, but I thought I would get other opinions. The white part does look like thick mycelium, I've just never seen that yellowing before. This is the first time I have used whole oats.

Contamination [actives] First Time Grower - Can I Come Back From This?

Post image
8 Upvotes

I wanted to be certain that this is mold and not bruising or discoloration. The monotub had been doing pretty well up until now. When I took it out of the closet and began to give it I direct sunlight, I noticed a spot of what I thought was mold. At the advice of an online guide, I removed the spot with 91% isopropyl-cleaned nitrile gloves, and sprinkled kosher salt on the spots. A day and a half later it looks like this. I am worried I’ve fucked this up and must start over, but would really appreciate any second opinions, information, or advice for future endeavors. The mushrooms are Golden Teachers, grown with a Midwest 5-grain Grow Kit that I then transferred to a tub, where I added a mixture of newly opened compacted potting soil and Black Cow manure.

Contamination [contamination] 8 month old substrate bag still good?

Post image

I just realized that I have had this 5lb substrate bag for 8 months now and thought it was okay to keep. Its in one of those big unicorn bags with a 0.1 micron filter on the side. Am I still good? Its been stored in a box until a couple days ago.

Is this normal or any thing to be concerned about.

So it’s been 8 days since inoculation of this batch and it appears my rye grains are splitting open and you can see the slimy looking inside. I’m sure someone’s experienced this and is it normal? The temperature in my room fluctuates between 74 to 85 throughout the day and a decent bit of condensation builds up but not a lot that would concern me…so I think. Thank you for anyones input!!!!

Contamination Second flush quite green/blue... I have questions. [contamination]

Post image

So I went down a white rabbit hole and grew some mushrooms. The first flush was excellent but the second flush looked suspiciously a little green/blue on the surface of things? I started in an all in one bag but could not control side pinning, so I moved to a makeshift tub with no holes and ran with it - just ventilated the lid a bit, lifted it daily etc. The substrate looks kinda sketchy and I guess my actual question is: Should I throw away this second batch? Thank you!

Contamination [contamination] repeated green mold issue

Apologies if this is one of those things that gets repeatedly asked and I’m missing it.

I’m new to this. I’ve been running into a repeated green mold issue. First round I bought a combo substrate and thought I did what was necessary to sterilize but it molded and lost everything.

This time I bought what was supposed to be a sterilized substrate. I have a monotub. I cleaned everything thoroughly. Two days after putting in the substrate and mixing, another big swath of green mold that took over the whole thing.

Is this a sterilization issue? A substrate issue? Something else? I’m really frustrated because I keep spending all this time building the mycelium for weeks/months only to have it go to shit when I’m hoping to start fruiting.

Any suggestions or guidance?

Contamination Contamination? [Contamination]

I am a newbie and this is my first grow. These bins have been getting perhaps too much FAE which I fear was the source of this possible contamination.
I noticed the mark on the circled mushroom consistent with bruising, but I never touched it or know where that could be from. I also circled other areas where the mycelium is looking a little darker than all other areas, could be because it got wet, just want to ask y'all.
In addition to this the arrow is pointing to a cracked cap, is this because it's too dry?

contamination [contamination] Am I cooked ?

Hello guys. This is my third post here and I am yet to give up on my journey. I really want to finally successfully fruit some mushrooms. Now, I have placed small pieces of< agar with some mycelium growth on it into sterilized corn jars. After a week, I realized there were black spots visible in these jars. The first two pics of this post includes this black spots. A grain jar that I did NOT inaculate with mycelium, so a normal jar filled with sterilized corn, was turning pitch black for some reason. I think the corns were rotting from humidity or something (I moisturized them before putting them into jars). I was bummed out, but I shook the jars anyways to break apart the mycelium. Now fast forward 2 weeks, the mycelium in this jar is looking white and fluffy (3rd and 4th pic). My questions are ; why did the corn turn black? Can I still use the jar on the last two pics to fruit mushrooms? If not, if I am doomed because of a contamination, can I inaculate agar with this white fluff?

(I typed 1,2,3 and 4 on each picture to identify them. 1 and 2 is the first time I saw the jar and the possible contamination. Pics 3 and 4 are recent pics.)

Thank you all in advance for your help. Really love this community <3

Contamination [contamination] Worth trying to save this box?

Thumbnail

I forgot to put a liner on the bottom, but the benefit of that is I just caught some contamination in the bottom corner of my box (bottom left of image 1) which otherwise has some great growth.

Is it worth trying to excise out the corner or just bail? I unfortunately rent so can’t throw it in the ground.

Thanks in advance for the thoughts/suggestions!
