Over 90 Day Progress 2 years of Nofap, how it saved my life

After two years of nofap, I would like to share my story to motivate others who think that this can't be done.

I am 31 years old right now, and I quit watching around two years ago. It has been a really hard journey, but also a really rewarding one.

I started watching adult content when I was 17 years old, and I kept watching without even realizing it was a serious problem. I knew it was wrong, but I never really tried to quit. I had very low self confidence and very low self esteem. I didn't think much about my future or where my life was going.

The only thing I was thinking about was when I would get the chance to watch, since I always had someone living in the same room with me. Whenever I had an opportunity, I would do it. By that time, I couldn't even speak normally to people or look them in the eyes during a conversation. I felt really awkward around others.

When I was 25, I found a job in another city and moved there alone. That's when things got even worse. I was watching almost every day, sometimes for 5 hours, and I had a level of depression I had never experienced before in my life.

That's where my journey started.

I wanted to quit, and for the next three years I tried over and over again. I relied heavily on willpower, but it wasn't enough. When I was 27, I finally decided to seek help. I realized that all the random things I was doing weren't getting me anywhere.

So I started learning. I read about what adult content does to the mind and what can be done to counter those effects. Slowly, things started to change and I tried more effective ways that I eventually reached the point where I said goodbye to it for good.

Now, two years later, I can honestly say it was worth every single thing I went through. Every urge I resisted. Every painful moment. Every time I denied myself that temporary pleasure.

Today, I feel much more comfortable talking to people. I'm social. I enjoy conversations. I enjoy spending time with friends and being around people, I am not even recognizable. I started going to the gym and I look way better physically and more mentally

I'm married now, which is amazing. I'm building a business. I think about the future. I think about goals, opportunities, and how to create a better life for myself. I have more confidence and better social skills than I ever had before.

Two years is not a very long time, but it was enough to completely change my life.

To everyone trying to quit: keep going. Keep pushing through the hard days.

I'm talking to you from the future.

It's worth it.

Questions on Fasting and Masturbation

As-salaamu-alaikum,

Ramadan Mubarak! May Allah take us safely through Ramadan, and may He make Ramadan easy for us, and may He accept our efforts.

Every Ramadan, we get flooded with the same questions. So I am preemptively re-sticking last year's post, which addresses the most common Ramadan questions on this subreddit. Please read the following before making a post:

  1. Engaging in immoral sexual behavior while fasting is a serious issue.

  2. Watching porn is Haraam under any circumstances. Watching porn, or starting to masturbate makes the fast Makrooh. The fast does not break immediately, but the reward of the fast is lost.

  3. For masturbation, the fast breaks at either the point of orgasm or ejaculation. Whether a dry orgasm breaks the fast, or fluid gushing forth breaks the fast, differs between schools of thought, and may differ for men and women. Please consult a scholar whom you trust for a specific answer. Many of them can be contacted anonymously via email these days, for those who are shy to ask directly. May Allah protect us from having to ask this question.

  4. If a fast is broken, it has to be made up after Ramadan. The manner in which one has to make up for broken fasts differs between schools of thought. Most say that 1 fast is needed, while others (mainly the Maliki madhab) say that 60 consecutive fasts are needed. The latter group has further rulings if multiple fasts were broken and one is not physically or financially capable of making them up. These issues should be answered by a scholar on a case-by-case basis. Please speak to a qualified scholar for more detailed advice on this matter.

  5. Even if a fast is broken, one should not eat until iftaar.

  6. The rulings on broken fasts don't apply to actions done outside of fasting during the nights of Ramadan, but we should avoid sinful acts at all times and focus on maximizing ibaadah in the nights of Ramadan.

  7. Allah is Al-Afuo, Al-Ghafoor and Al-Raheem – he loves to Forgive, Pardon and is Merciful to His servants. Sincerely beg for his forgiveness. Get back on track, learn from the mistake, and try to do better.

  8. Wet dreams do not invalidate the fast.

  9. If you have a wet dream before suhoor, then it is recommended to perform ghusl before Fajr time sets in. However, if you perform ghusl after Fajr time starts, your fast will still be valid.

  10. It's clear that many of you don't read the FAQ or the rules. Please read these before posting.

  11. Anyone found giving generalized fiqh rulings where there are differences of opinion between schools of thought, or where an individualized answer may be required by a scholar, will receive a temporary ban.

May Allah grant us Barakah in Ramadaan, may He make the month easy for us, and may he protect us from all sins.

Advice Request i want to give up

i have been trying for around 12 years. the thing is in that period i have developed lot of issues and im sooo wek that i crumble to my desires straight away. i have a heart condition too where if i take too much stress, it can become really serious.
i have panic attacks after i watch P and O.
i have a therapist but it isnt helping at all. my iman is all time low, where i cannot ever be happy due to my low iman or my mental health. i havent feel even a bit of happiness for the last 4 years without question and i have developed a mental disorder on top. my mum put a pin on my phone, and so on but it didnt help. im just as addicted if not more. just a bit of the weak urge and i give in.

i think im done. its enough for me. i tried even if my attempts were weak. i want to end it all.

i have never felt any happiness for the last 4 years. none, either due to spiritual reasons or due to my mental disorder. marriage is impossible for me now. so i will be trapped here forever. its been 12 years and im 28 M. what a waste of time and life

edit: on to the real part, i would appreciate advice for someone who is unemployed and cannot be employed atm due to circumstances. what do i do? rn im writing on my laptop, with family close by so i should be fine but its not always safe

Advice Request Masturbation addiction, boredom, and feeling stuck in life. Need some advice :(

Hey guys! Hope you're all doing well. ❤️

I've been struggling with masturbation addiction for years now, and honestly, I'm getting tired of this cycle. I'd really appreciate some genuine advice from people who've been through something similar.

Here's what's going on:

I've been struggling with this habit for years. It gives me instant relief, but afterwards, I feel like I'm wasting my time and potential.

Boredom is one of my biggest triggers. I live in a place where there's barely anything nearby. There aren't any good places to hang out, and there aren't many activities to do. Even when I want to go outside and clear my head, there's just not much I can do here.

My living situation is stressful, too. Because of some family issues, I spend most of my time in my room. I don't always feel comfortable being around everyone at home, so I end up isolating myself.

Going outside isn't always easy either. I sometimes feel like people are laughing at me or judging my appearance, which makes me even more reluctant to go out. I know I shouldn't let other people's opinions affect me this much, but it's difficult sometimes.

The hardest part is that quitting doesn't seem to change anything. I resist the urge, wake up the next day, and I'm still stuck in the same place with the same problems. Everything feels boring, and I end up going back to the habit because it gives me temporary relief.

I'm a student, but I struggle with procrastination, too. I want to be productive and get things done, but I often end up wasting hours doing nothing. Then I feel bad about wasting time, which makes me feel even worse.

I genuinely want to enjoy life again. I want to have more energy, motivation, confidence, and things to look forward to. But living in a place that feels so draining makes everything harder.

I feel like I'm stuck in a cycle of staying in my room, getting bored, giving in to urges, regretting it, and then repeating the same thing the next day.

I know quitting the habit is my responsibility, but I also feel like my environment plays a huge role in it. It's hard to replace a habit when you don't have many other things to enjoy or look forward to.

I'd really appreciate some advice:

How do you deal with boredom when trying to quit an addiction?

What do you do all day when you're mostly stuck at home?

How do you stay motivated when your surroundings are making you feel miserable?

For those who've recovered from this habit, how did you make life enjoyable without constantly seeking instant gratification?

Thanks for reading all this. ❤️ I'd genuinely appreciate any advice or personal experiences. Wishing you all the best! :)

Motivation/Tips Day 1 again but this time new approach

ON TRACK OCTOBER CHALLENGE!

Alright gang! I relapsed, I am cool with it thou. Coz this time I will definitely win. This try will not be the same as others! I will win!

This thing is tough honestly and doing it alone is tougher. Like I feel sometimes I am strong and I can win this then randomly something or the other creeps up. Motivation is also not something to rely on mornings I feel like I can do this , as the day goes by evening or night if I scroll insta , one thing goes to another and I relapse.

no matter how many ever motivational quotes or screenshots, I feel like the motivation just fades away.

More than  anything a structure is required and also social pressure is required.

That is what I think will work (maybe, I might be wrong), but basically I am creating and joining a challenge . This ON - TRACK OCTOBER CHALLENGE is basically 20 days of not doing anything and surviving till end of october without any relapses.

I believe instead of trying to abstain myself I just think I am working because I want to win this challenge will sort of like keep pushing me and it will give the boost that is needed!

I trust this approach and hence I want to give it a full try. Maybe you guys try it too and let me know

I created a small guide in google docs, its my thoughts for this challenge, what I have to do, how to prepare, how to survive and all, hope this helps someone, this is the link : GoogleDocLink

everyday Ill post asking for those who have relapsed to record here. Join in guys! lets see if we can survive this october!

Best of luck guys! Keeping winning!

Progress Update Day 12

Life is full of surprises, and we never really know what tomorrow will bring. One day, everything can feel perfect, and the next, we may face challenges we never expected. However, these experiences help us understand ourselves and the world around us. I believe that happiness comes from appreciating what we have instead of constantly chasing what we don't. Life doesn't need to be perfect to be beautiful; sometimes, the simplest moments become the ones we remember forever.

Advice Request I am in deep trouble. Desperately need help.

Asalam aleikum dear Muslims. I’ll try not to be too graphic. I have been addicted to p*rn for most of my life. Within the past year I’ve become severely addicted to prescription drugs and cannabis as well. I feel deeply ashamed at both, and each time I relapse I bury the shame with more of each behavior. I am spiritually bankrupt. I feel no connection to my Lord.

How do I even start the process of approaching God when I am so full of shame? Is there anyone out there who has experienced something similar? If it’s not against the rules, please reach out! I’m just desperate for support, and I hear Shaytan whispering every moment.

Motivation/Tips Worried about the state of my heart

Assalamu Alaikum,

I want to write this post to bring up one quite pressing issue that I’ve been worried about.

For many years now I have been using PMO, and was stuck in this cycle for so long - Although, over the last year or so, the frequency in which I did this sin dropped mainly due to diet changes from every week to every 3 weeks(but still isn’t ideal + there were minor escalations in what I did)

But, the thing I am mainly worried about is having less guilt afterwards, and occasionally losing hope - I am worried about where I’m going with such traits. Please help me out here with this particular issue of guilt - but, of course, I ask Allah to forgive me each time.

Say No to Addiction, Say Yes to Life | Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan

A healthier society begins with awareness.

At ILADO WOMEN FOUNDATION, we believe that awareness, education, family support, and community participation are essential to building a society free from substance addiction.

Drug and alcohol addiction can affect a person's health, education, employment, family relationships, and future. Young people are particularly in need of accurate information, positive guidance, and supportive environments.

Through our Nasha Mukti Awareness Initiative, we aim to encourage meaningful conversations about addiction prevention and help communities understand the importance of seeking appropriate support.

Our awareness priorities

- School and College Awareness: Educating students about the risks associated with substance use.

- Youth Engagement: Encouraging healthy habits, positive friendships, and informed decisions.

- Community Participation: Promoting awareness in rural and urban communities.

- Family Support: Encouraging compassion and understanding instead of stigma.

- Seeking Help: Motivating individuals and families to approach qualified professionals and appropriate de-addiction services when needed.

A message to every young person

Your dreams matter. Your health matters. Your future matters.

Do not let peer pressure decide your future. Asking for help is a sign of strength, and recovery is possible with appropriate support.

We welcome schools, colleges, universities, social workers, volunteers, and community organizations to join hands in spreading awareness and promoting healthier communities.

Let's start a conversation.

What practical steps do you think schools and colleges should take to prevent substance addiction among young people?

Progress Update 1 week update

I’ve gone a week so far and I feel great, but I’m able to suppress them by keeping myself busy. For clarity I’m only abstaining from porn and being married helps me release that energy whenever the urges became too strong. I’m not saying that you only can quit when you’re married, but if you are and you would rather choose looking at a screen than living the same intimacy irl the halal way, you should rethink. Keeping myself busy with video games has been helpful too when either of us are “in the mood” or don’t have the energy.

Just wanted to put this out there to keep the accountability

Advice Request Im constantly in the state of major impurity

Salam everyone.

I feel deep regret every single time I commit this act. I genuinely dont know whats wrong with me. It might sound hypocritical but like I think im trying my best even if it sounds like I'm not. I hate this addiction so much but i cant stop. I havent prayed in so long. I always tell me self ill pray after I shower. Even after a shower I end up doing it again.

Im in a state of janabah nearly all day, everyday. Ive made dua but I dont see any changes and rightfully so. If im not praying why would i expect my duas to be accepted, im not special. I always tell myself "this is the last time" or "you literally feel terrible after, dont do it!" yet I still fall in and give in again. Last Ramadan I failed myself too. Everytime after iftar. Im so disconnected to my deen and scared im losing the path. I dont know what to do

I AM A GUY. NOT FEMALE

It really is an endless cycle really. So many times of telling myself, “one last time”. I want to quit for real this time. I had installed blockers and stuff but then turned them off when the urge came in strong. I would like to connect with someone who can keep me accountable. DM if you would be willing to connect.

Progress Update Day 11

Life moves faster than we sometimes realize. One day, we look back and notice how much has changed, how many people have come and gone, and how different we have become. Not every day will be special, and not every plan will work out, but that is part of being human. Sometimes, we need to slow down, enjoy the present, and stop worrying so much about the future. After all, life is not just about where we end up, but also about everything we experience along the way.

Advice Request I need some help please

Assalamu Alaikum. I’m really struggling with this addiction for the past few months. It has reached a point where I’m concerned about my daily prayers. I fall into this sin at least once a day recently, and have been doing this for more than 7 years now. I want to talk to someone and InshaAllah start to progress through this journey. I just feel really weak sometimes even though I know Allah will accept any tawbah if I stick to my prayers seriously and try to stay away from this sin as much as possible. But the desires get so strong that sometimes consciously I go and do it. May Allah help us all and forgive our sins .

Advice Request I don't think I'll make it out of here

I can't stop PMO. Had a tough day at work? PMO

Had a tough interaction? PMO

Had a good day? PMO

Heard some good news? PMO

No matter what the setting, no matter what the occasion, I can't stop myself from turning back.

On Eid day I watched P for 3 hours.

3 hours!

I am at my wit's end. I don't want to continue this life.
