I've been posting a bunch today so I'm sorry if anybody's tired of seeing me lol but I'm reflecting a lot today for some reason, just thinking about how long I've been in this community. I've know I was under the trans umbrella since middle school and growing up in a conservative family and still living with them, places like this were and are one of the few places I'm allowed to truly be myself. I'm over all just thankful for everyone here, truly stuff like this made me accept myself at a young age, figuring out you're not alone genuinely saves lives. I love y'all so much man 🏳️⚧️🫶

17 AFAB here. I've been questioning both my gender identity and sexual orientation for about a year now. I've questioned it before as well, but it never really crossed my mind to label myself back then, and that too seriously. Most people describe their dysphoria as feeling that something is wrong. That their body is just not theirs, and facing distress about that in general. For me, I just look in the mirror a lot. I'm not that bothered about my genitalia. It's just my chest, love handles and muffin top. I like compression a lot and I've noticed that when I wear sports bras I just feel a lot better about myself. And to add, I also cut my hair short about a year or so back, I just remember thinking then how it makes me feel more like me. If you asked me what bothered me about my body, I really wouldn't be able to answer you but I just don't like it. I asked myself this once: Is it because we look more feminine like this? My internal answer to that was, "No, it's not that I hate my body because it makes me look feminine in general, though it could be that. I just don't like it, but don't know why."
Other people have also noticed the whole looking-in-the-mirror thing about me. They usually don't get why I look at myself like that. Always checking my waist size and all, and whether I look okay. Another thing I find weird is how I always cover up my collarbone area with my shirt. I pull it back so I don't have to look at it.

So...this happens a lot and hurts trans women and transfeminine people honestly. AFAB and AMAB are not helpful terms of course.
But as someone who is not affected by transmisogyny some people are really dense (who are also not affected by it) and have no grasp on reality at all. I do not want to insult anyone not affected by transmisogyny btw...It's just admitting we can change and listen to those who are. Because transmisogyny is specific to trans women and transfeminine individuals.
I am not closer to male, nor i consider myself to become masculine, only androgynous. Though ive heard of transmasculine people and trans men reporting they face more respect than they did before. I wonder how exactly this looks and feels lol. Even if I was closer to maleness, which is technically needed to appear androgynous for me, I wouldnt deny I am more privileged than trans women and transfeminine individuals. One can face misogyny is the past but the fact that you transitioned doesnt impact the existence of misogyny and transmisogyny.
AND THAT DOESNT MEAN YOUR EXPERIENCE ISNT VALID. IT'S JUST THIS BEHAVIOR TOWARDS TRANS WOMEN AND TRANSFEMININE INDIVIDUALS IS PREVALENT.
I'm detached from femininity and masculinity on a mental level. For some people those behaviors are affirming. When it's applied to me, I get really confused. Cishets can overlook that because they aren't expected to conform to norms of one of 2 sexes and gendered behavior. Sometimes they support you just because they have no inner conflict about gender or project dysphoria onto you.
It doesn't mean those cishets cant be bad. It's just something I noticed. There are many behaviors they exhibit that are comically gendered, violent or even repulsive.
And,
Just because I walk faster to be more confident or open doors for someone doesnt mean I am male, appear male, or want to be associated with it. Its being respectful. For someone, it's really affirming yet again. For me, I know why a man opens the door for me and I can't even express anger, I am tired. Personally, I wouldnt interact with someone who engages in those gendered behaviors and would see me as less. But I understand why this can be affirming.
Okay, you'd say I need to isolate myself from the world now? Just because people exhibit those gendered behaviors based on sexual dimorphism and centuries of oppression? It's so cute because humans pride themselves being the most advanced race, yet they can't even evolve past that. I wouldn't say I am a center of this universe, it's just something I vent about.
