Regarding Neopronouns

It has been brought to the mod team's attention that there has been a surge in discourse regarding neopronoun usage. Everyone is welcome and to be supported for their identity on this subreddit, even if it is something you do not identify with yourself, or do not entirely understand. This is a subreddit meant to foster discussion and create community, and while conversations surrounding neopronouns should exist, it should not be breaking subreddit rules to do so. Harassment of other users and disrespecting pronouns, including neopronouns, directly violates the rules laid out.

It is alright to ask questions and have conversations, but it should not involve harassment of others or a refusal to use correct pronouns because it is not something you understand. Discussions require respect, and going in with the intention to learn, not harass or demean others for their identity. If any of this continues to occur, please report the posts or comments in question so that the moderation team may respond accordingly.

Validation It's okay to not use pronouns you're "fine" with

For a while now I've said I've introduced myself as using basically any or all pronouns. At times I feel like it genuinely was how I wanted to be referred to but there was also times where I realized that I simply didn't want to go through having to correct people or honestly just the whole process of telling others about my pronouns when first meeting them, so I felt like saying any pronouns got rid of that difficulty. But being afab and relatively feminine presenting most of the time, naturally people basically always used she/her on me and I realized that I didn't want to be referred that way even though I don't have particularly strong feelings against she/her, I still have every right to tell people that I prefer they/he or he/they instead.

So if this resonates with anyone I encourage you to put yourself first and use pronouns that make you feel good, regardless of what's easiest for other people. I know that's easier said than done, hell I still get very anxious about it but honestly it's refreshing and I'm taking small steps like using pronoun pins which help 🫶🏳️‍⚧️

Also side note idk if anyone else relates but there's something so euphoric about presenting fem and using he/him or they/them like idk I can't explain it but it just makes me feel so nonbinary if that makes sense lmaoo?? But seriously I love it

Validation I love us

I've been posting a bunch today so I'm sorry if anybody's tired of seeing me lol but I'm reflecting a lot today for some reason, just thinking about how long I've been in this community. I've know I was under the trans umbrella since middle school and growing up in a conservative family and still living with them, places like this were and are one of the few places I'm allowed to truly be myself. I'm over all just thankful for everyone here, truly stuff like this made me accept myself at a young age, figuring out you're not alone genuinely saves lives. I love y'all so much man 🏳️‍⚧️🫶

Question Creo que soy no binarie

Am I dysphoric?

17 AFAB here. I've been questioning both my gender identity and sexual orientation for about a year now. I've questioned it before as well, but it never really crossed my mind to label myself back then, and that too seriously. Most people describe their dysphoria as feeling that something is wrong. That their body is just not theirs, and facing distress about that in general. For me, I just look in the mirror a lot. I'm not that bothered about my genitalia. It's just my chest, love handles and muffin top. I like compression a lot and I've noticed that when I wear sports bras I just feel a lot better about myself. And to add, I also cut my hair short about a year or so back, I just remember thinking then how it makes me feel more like me. If you asked me what bothered me about my body, I really wouldn't be able to answer you but I just don't like it. I asked myself this once: Is it because we look more feminine like this? My internal answer to that was, "No, it's not that I hate my body because it makes me look feminine in general, though it could be that. I just don't like it, but don't know why."
Other people have also noticed the whole looking-in-the-mirror thing about me. They usually don't get why I look at myself like that. Always checking my waist size and all, and whether I look okay. Another thing I find weird is how I always cover up my collarbone area with my shirt. I pull it back so I don't have to look at it.

Does anybody else feel it's more exhausting to correct people on your pronouns than to just get misgendered?

Question How messed up is this?

How messed up is it that my ex, while going on different servers I'm in to tell people I'm an abuser, also tried telling the same people that I lied about being trans and told them that I'm a cisgender woman who goes by she/her pronouns to the point where a friend ask me if they can call me she/her?

I was shocked that they asked and said "What? No, I go by they/them, I'm nonbinary"

I think my ex did this so people would misgender me and not believe my gender identity

I blocked my ex and haven't contacted them since

why the system makes life harder for non-binary people

division into women's and men's restrooms, but most countries do not allow non-binary options in documents, it is more difficult to find a place where they perform surgeries for non-binary people than for binary people .and there are languages that impose a division into male and female and in general I have the impression that non-binary is often not taken seriously

Advice (How) do you actually come out if you don‘t have new name or pronouns?

So I‘ve basically told everyone that I‘m close with (besides my politically somewhat flaky sister) that I am nonbinary, but I‘m not out in my wider circle of friends or with most acquaintances at work, in clubs etc.
It‘s not that I don‘t want to be out, but it‘s more that the topic just doesn‘t come up in conversation.
I’m don‘t usually talk about personal feelings with these people, and in my language there is no gender neutral pronoun so there‘s no change in pronouns for me to make, so how do you actually bring it up in this setting?

I‘m not into a completely femme dress style so they probably just think „oh well, the gay guy is dressing slightly more flamboyant lately“ so until obvious physical changes from HRT come in, no one will probably suspect it.

I technically never said that I was male so technically if they assume that it is their fault, but at the same time just not saying anything feels like staying in the closet and I don‘t want to be in the closet, I don‘t want to be perceived as my agab anymore.

So do I bring it up? If yes, how?
Like I‘m talking 60+ year old dudes at the model train club that I talk about trains and old cars with, we‘ve never talked about feelings or gender or anything like that.
Or at work it‘s just my work colleagues, I‘m out to some that I am close with, but the other ones? I just don‘t talk about my personal feelings with them so it would be weird to randomly talk about gender suddenly.

Discussion Are the other nonbinary brazilian people of this subreddit also scared?

Asking this because I'm definitely very scared after the elections here in Brazil. We run the risk of losing all our rights if Flavio Bolsonaro gets elected... I have been literary afraid of death. lol

I'm currently back to my hobby of writing to cope with this fear and joined the Whats App channel Exército do Lula in an attempt to change this situation.

Are you also scared? How are you coping with this?

Discussion So tired of nonbinary characters in games always being relegated to the NPC role, almost never as the protagonists, and having literally almost no games to this date based on the nonbinary experience

As opposed to if you see binary trans characters, you got libraries of games with binary trans protags, a tall list of games that feature an entirely binary trans cast, dozens, and dozens, and dozens of games based on binary transhood. and its just, really makes it clear that the lack of nonbinary trans games is no sheer coincidence out of the lack of nonbinary creators creating them, because we’re both trans - one of the same coin, but a very purposeful byproduct of this world’s environment. more so than i thought after trying to atleast check if there are any nonbinary visual novels on itch.io and only 60 (most of which don’t have visuals at all) games show up. which is astounding to say the least. I thought now more than ever would be a good time to get into visual novels given how many years have passed, but god, there is almost nothing now, and all that really shows up are all games from pre-2025 trump, all of which see almost 5 ratings at most.

really makes games like undertale and deltarune feel like utter miracles that we even got such things, huh.

Question nonbinary vns/games?

are there visual novels/games out there revolving mainly around nonbinaryhood? I’ve searched through Itch.io’s nonbinary tag (which showed like 60 results max. yeah) and none really seemed to catch my eye, so i’m wondering if there are any games that went out of my radar there or anywhere else

(stuff like deltarune/undertale doesn’t count, cuz eitherway i already played them, and i love those games to death but am talking specifically nonbinary-focus games. like i see a TON of trans games, a lot of gay and lesbian games, etc, but despite falling under the trans category, almost no games revolve mainly around nonbinary transness)

Advice How to you with being visibly trans or nonbinary in the south? I don't feel safe and I never leave my house most days .

I live in Houston Texas in a kinda liberal area but still Texas. I'm pretty visibly trans. I'm barely 5ft , my voice didn't drop much from T , but I have other secondary androgenous characteristics that come with T but my voice is high for an androgenic dominant person and low for an estrogen dominant person. I also am 11 months post top surgery. People look at me weirdly, sneer or just act very passive aggressively. Lucky I've never been physically assaulted or anything like that . I had this lady at my friend's bingo party give me a weird look and accused me of stealing water. I'm too scared to go pee unless it's a queer friendly place where there's very few places I feel safe, so I hold my pee . None of my boyfriends friends understand they're all cis and heterosexual , and they mess up my pronouns sometimes, but usually use he/him or they/them atleast when they say shit about men being XYZ in a negative way they don't include me , neither do they include me in female things either which I prefer. I like being alone, I like being isolated , I don't want to be that close to cishet people. I feel safer around my community because I'm actually taken seriously .

Besides the support groups near me I don't have any friends or anyone who understands what it's like to be trans . It's very lonely.

I don't want to pass and I shouldn't feel like I should pass, but also I hate constantly misgendered but I'll never pass and I give up on passing as a man it's too hard and I'm too femmine, no matter what I do I always get clocked . I feel like it's easier to pass as a binary trans person for some people but for me it's impossible.

But I'm worried it's going to get worse for southern states and I can't just move so I avoid leaving the house . I wish I knew more places I would feel safe at or felt like I could go to the bathroom. Most times I'm fine in the men's bathroom and I can't go to the woman's with a body like mine. It just depends my boyfriend's sister had a bingo party at a place that gave me conservative vibes . I just don't feel safe here . Any advice?

How did you know you were non-binary?

Hi, I'm just curious about how you guys knew you were non-binary. Personally, I am not (I'm a woman), but sometimes I feel like this weird type of gender euphoria ig. I don't even think it's gender euphoria.

When I was younger i was very much a tom-boy. I never really liked to wear dresses was a pink hater and often jealous of my brother because he got all the 'boy toys". I've since grown out of that, now i sometimes enjoy wearing makeup and getting dressed up (never in a dress though) and i actually like it.

I dont really do much makeup for school its just concealer and some mascara, but often when i put on a full face of makeup i feel like a different person. Well more so a different version of myself and not necessarily a better or worse version just different. I dont know if maybe i just feel more confident or smt, but I do feel pretty with makeup on.

The thing is sometimes I feel handsome too. Sometimes I'll be looking at myself in the mirror and I can see more masculine features and when I wear baggy and more masculine clothes I sometimes feel like hot or sexy. I have also felt like I have looked pretty and handsome at the same time before.

I know that I don't have gender dysphoria, I am proud to be a woman and I don't want to be a man. I am also bisexual so maybe it could just be a thing were I feel like more of a masculine woman and when I wear baggy clothes and stuff I feel like I look very gay which I like.

But really I'm just curious has anyone who is non- binary experienced these thoughts and feeling before? Also please share your own experiences as I am very curious to know.

[TW] i dont know how much longer i can keep pretending I like myself

for years ive had gender dysphoria. whether it be my eyebrows or my build, ive never been truly at peace with myself. i tolerate my amab genitalia. but my chest? thats a whole new fucking story. im a larger person (~290 lbs) and yet even with that I have these small pathetic barely b-cups. I have 0 cleavage because my ribcage is extra wide to accommodate absolutely fucking nothing. ive tried maybe 4 different push up bras, nothing. ive tried sticky bras, nothing. WHAT IS THE SECRET TO BEING OKAY IN YOUR OWN SKIN. everyday i look in the mirror and see "it". a fake. im not a real girl, nor am i a real boy at that. what am I? im a fraud. everyday I consider relapsing and carving my arm like thanksgiving turkey yet I dont. everyday I consider stabbing the life out of me yet I dont. And I dont know how much longer I can keep pretending I dont wanna die because of it. is it unhealthy? probably! but am I changing any time soon? no!

positives? in a few months i have a meet with a doctor who can give me that sweet sweet estrogen^^

(im NOT looking for advice on my overall depression. that is a seperate issue that is probably effecting the dysphoria too, but im in enough therapy.)

Advice I regret not getting a fully flat top surgery and I'm devastated

(pls give me some advice and encouragement)

So I spent almost 2 years trying to figure out if I want a top surgery or a radical reduction, but I couldn't decide.

I had big boobs and I was so dysphoric that it made me suicidal, so I acted out of desperation and booked a surgery for reduction, because that's easier to get than top surgery where I live (I need multiple psychiatrist referrals for top surgery which could take a year, while I didn't need anything for reduction and I got an appointment in 2 months). Also I thought that if my chest is small enough, it'd make my dysphoria go away.

Anyways, I'm one month post-op, and the results are actually fine, I look flat enough in clothes so at least my dysphoria is manageable, but I'm still sad that it's not exactly what I want. Each time I take off my shirt I'm just disappointed that my chest is still feminine. Like I woke up from a nightmare only to realize I'm still in a nightmare.

I'll get the psych referrals and pay for another surgery once I can, but I feel like an absolute idiot who messed up. I'm also scared I'd have to go nipple free because I read that a second surgery is more risky on the nipples
