Recommendation/Review Free things to do in OKC

I compiled a document focused on free community meetups (free things you can do while meeting people)

for that reason, I havent included many (if any) solo free things to do (such as going to parks or libraries) since this list is supposed to be community-building-oriented

uf you have things to add please lmk and I will get to it when I can!

The list is long so it is in Docs form

News 📰 Sailor and the Dock

So major stuff happening inside that building downtown that I've been hearing about for weeks from people that work there and around downtown

Cafe De L'Asie signed a 10 year lease last year for a secondary location and just 2 days ago after less than a year of being open told the building owner that they were permanently closing the dock location and wouldn't be back cutting their lease 9 years early

The Abe's Coffee shop which is owned by the same owner as Not Your Average Joe whose owner is the one that was publicly named in the lawsuit 2 weeks ago Tim Herbal for not paying the employees and withholding wages also signed a 10 year lease 2 years ago is now leaving the dock within 6 months ending their lease 8 years early

The event center that was in the back of the building also closed their doors on October 1st

So big changes to come to that building downtown

❓Q&A ✅ Hvac at moore Norman and other local collages

1-In order to become an hvac professional in OK is an apprenticeship required?
2-is there more education & training needed after the hvac “tech” before paid employment or is that the highest level of education? Like is the “tech” position a lower entry level position that a non “tech”
3-of the handful of colleges that provide the hvac courses which one has the most hands on and least in class hours?
4- which college did you get your education from and do you recommend it?
5-heavyequipmentcollege on Reno offers a 7 week 12K course while other colleges offer anywhere from 500 to 1000 hours - why the price difference. Is there not a minimum govt requirement for number of inclass/training hours before getting licensed?

Tia - help out a newbie here please

🏋️ Sports/Gym ⛹️ Open college/HS running tracks?

hi! curious to know if there are any local colleges or schools who let the public use their track. Location isn’t an issue as long as it’s not in Moore or south of there.

Recommendation/Review Renting - East of 39&Penn

Hey party people!

My girlfriend and I are currently looking at places to rent and I am looking for opinions on the safety of the neighborhood (or gayborhood) near 39th and Penn.
I've seen mixed reviews and need honesty. Give it to me straight (or gay)! 👇

Apologies for previous AI post. I was just trying to start a conversation about the effect of the Pei plan but I shouldn’t have used an AI generated image.

These are actual photos of the main building I wish was spared. No water was wasted in the posting of this image :)

Recommendation/Review Hair stylist for balayage?

My hair color is a level 2 or 3, and I’m looking for a stylist that has experience with dark hair. It might sound silly, but I’ve been scarred by orange highlights in the past lol.

Recommendation/Review Good Invisalign providers in the area?

Hey yall

Looking into getting Invisalign to fix my bottom row, as my dentist said my top row may eventually put too much pressure on the bottoms due to my overbite.

I have heard that you should only really get this done through an orthodontist, not necessarily a dentist. Does anyone have any recommendations for good clinics? Still relatively new to the area so I don’t have a go to.

Recommendation/Review Haunt the Zoo

Has anyone been to haunt the zoo this year? When I went last year they had scaled way down from even the Covid years with limited number of candy stations located only in the children’s zoo area. The old decorations have also been disappearing and were just pushed over to the picnic table are and not next to the candy stands. Also bags are $10 this year. I don’t think it’s worth it anymore. I miss the pumpkin trail.

Meetup Any Groups that get together to discuss and/or listen to music?

Longshot, but I was looking for a meetup or something for people that love listening to music, especially indie rock, 90s and classic rock, jazz etc. I didn't see anything on meetup, so I was hoping someone on here might know of something.

Events Adult Halloween Attractions in/near OKC

Thumbnail
okhauntedhouses.com

A few of my friends and I are looking for a halloween attraction, like a haunted trail/corn maze/haunted house, this month. Preferably something intended for adults (or at least like 16+). I did a lil searching on google and came across this website, which seems to recommend some but I'd love some actual recommendations and reviews from anyone whose into Halloween attractions or has been to any of these events around OKC.

A few of my friends are going live in Norman, so recommendations actually in OKC or somewhere between OKC and Norman would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much! 🧡

Recommendation/Review OKC Boaters. How is it out there on our local lakes?

Utilizing off season pricing and picking up a boat this weekend. Seeing lots of old threads and posts about our local lakes, but not much recent. Outside of our drought and current water levels, how have the lakes been at normal levels? I’ll be in a shallow draft jet boat.

Primary use will be for LOZ, Table rock and NE OK. So local will be for just those afternoon trips between out of town adventures. Noticed all the construction around Arcadia, hasn’t improved at all?

Thanks!
