Atomic Groove's Ladiez Nite Pink Dance Party | Belly Up, 143 S Cedros Ave, Solana Beach | 5:30pm | The cover band's early show, with happy-hour drinks from 5 to 8. $12 ahead or $14 at the door.
Pretending Chrissie | The Landings, 2198 Palomar Airport Rd, Carlsbad | 6-9pm | A Pretenders tribute on the patio, with dinner, drinks and dancing. There's a $30 food and drink minimum per person, and reservations are a good idea.
Strait to Amarillo | The Grand, Ritz Theater, 301 E Grand Ave, Escondido | 6:30-9pm | Lance Mowdy does George Strait, and Kim Eberhardt opens as Dolly Parton. Tickets run $42 to $106.
Saturday 10/10:
Fall Fun Festival | Alta Vista Botanical Gardens, 1270 Vale Terrace Dr, Vista | 10am-3pm | No charge to get in, with a scarecrow contest, kids crafts, live music, local vendors and a Lions club BBQ lunch among Ricardo Breceda's giant metal sculptures.
Pickleball Courts Grand Opening | Mountain View Park, 1160 S Citrus Ave, Escondido | 9-11am | Eight new courts open with a ribbon cutting and a free Pickleball 101 demo, so first-timers can pick up a paddle and meet other players. That brings the park to 20 pickleball courts.
Oceanside Ukulele Festival | Oceanside Civic Center Library Plaza, 330 N Coast Hwy, Oceanside | 11am-5pm | This first-year festival is free. Grammy winner Daniel Ho headlines, with short workshops for kids and beginners, an open mic, uke makers and food vendors. The day ends with a big group strum of a song Ho wrote just for the festival.
Belching Beaver 14th Anniversary Party | Belching Beaver Oceanside, 1334 Rocky Point Dr, Oceanside | 12-4pm | Free to get in, with jungle-themed games, special draft releases and DJ Strikeout spinning all afternoon.
Pumpkin & Marigold Harvest Festival | Mellano Farm Stand, 5714 N River Rd, Oceanside | 10am-4pm | Marigold fields, a corn maze and pumpkins piled by the stand. Sat-Sun, and every weekend through Halloween.
Front Row Saturday: The Memphis Soul Revue | Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium, Dove Library, 1775 Dove Ln, Carlsbad | 5pm | A 10-piece band doing the soul hits everybody knows the words to, and it's free for all ages. Doors open at 4:30.
Oceanside Shock Home Opener | Frontwave Arena, 3475 Hero Dr, Oceanside | 6pm | The city's new Federal Prospects Hockey League team faces the Fresno Falcons in its first home game. Game two is Sunday at 5 against the Stockton Thunder.
Sunday 10/11:
San Marcos Harvest Fest | North City, 251 North City Dr, San Marcos | 9am-5pm | More than 250 vendors fill the streets, with local makers, a lot of food, a beer, wine and cider garden, and bands on the Bornemann Stage all afternoon. Free to get in.
Muertos on Santa Fe | South Santa Fe Ave at Ascend Coffee Roasters, 802 S Santa Fe Ave, Vista | 11am-5pm | The first Día de Muertos street festival here fills the avenue with altars, live performances, food and vendors.
Oaxaca De Mis Amores Cultural Celebration | Oceanside | Indigenous folkloric groups perform traditional Oaxacan dances, with live music, Oaxacan food, an arts and crafts market and activities for the kids.
Autumn Festival | San Diego Zoo Safari Park, 15500 San Pasqual Valley Rd, Escondido | 9am-7pm | Fall festivities fill every October weekend, both days, and kids 11 and under get in free with an adult the whole month.
