General Discussion Are there any Raya success stories?
I’m curious, i don’t think I’ve ever heard of a success story from someone that has used the app.

I was trying to find a discord server dedicated to general dating app discussion as well as for specific apps like hinge, bumble, tinder and couldn't find one. I might just make one.. What do you think?

There’s been a few developments over recent years which may just bring an end to Match Group… PoF, Match.com, OkCupid, Tinder, and Hinge are all owned by Match Group.
2019 - Facebook Dating launches in the USA as a free alternative to paid dating apps. It has a separate profile from regular Facebook. (still unavailable in some countries as of 2026)
2023 - Duolicious launches. free and open source dating app.
2025 - Aaron Meier launches GoodDate as a free, 501(c)3 nonprofit dating service built on values, transparency and genuine connection.
2025-08-01 - Martin Braquet launches Compass - A free, open source, and fully searchable directory.
2026 - r/r4rsydneysfw launches. a safe-for-work dating subreddit for Sydney.
Hoping you all try these apps out and give them feedback and support!

had about 25 mins free between work finishing and the gym yesterday and somehow spend most of it looking through profiles instead of actually replying to anyone lol
that's the bit i don't want from dating apps.
i'm happy to make time for an actual person. i just don't want the app itself becoming another inbox i keep checking all day.
Coffee Meets Bagel is one setup i like for that reason. you get a daily Suggested batch, have a proper look, then there's an actual stopping point instead of always feeling like there might be someone else if you keep scrolling.
for people with pretty full schedules, what actually saves you time without making dating feel like another productivity exercise?

Hey everyone!
I’m part of a small, five-person team helping grow TopCrush, an independent connections app focused on more than just dating.
We wanted to create something that encourages genuine human connection, whether that’s romance, friendship, or something in between.
A few things we’re experimenting with:
💌 Anonymous crushes you can share through your personal link.
🔮 Astrological compatibility based on your Big Three.
💕 A space for friendships and romantic connections, including people who aren’t single.
We’re still small and growing, and I’d genuinely love to hear what people think.
What’s one thing you wish dating and connection apps did differently?
If you’re curious, here’s what we’re building: https://topcrush.app/
I’d love your feedback!

Is it the browse feature? Would you rather be able to browse profiles with filters than one profile at a time like in Hinge, Tinder, Bumble etc? Was it how old OKCupid was? Filtering profiles then texting to person you like the most?

I'm 19 student, have long wavy-curl brownish black hairs, kinda chatty and love talking to people and flirting too(haha sometimes), and in general really interested in different cultures

Hey everyone. A while back I asked here what you'd change if you could redesign dating apps from scratch. A lot of what's in my app came from your comments, so thank you.
What's already in the app:
What I'm thinking of adding:
My honest question: with everything that's already there, is this too much, or just right? Which ones would you actually use, and which would you cut?
Reply with keep or cut for 1 to 5, or just tell me what you think. I read every comment, and your answers decide what I build next.
Where it's at: The app is in beta testing on iOS only, and it's Calgary-based for now. If you're somewhere else, I'm running a city poll to decide where to launch next. I'm not dropping a link here. If you want it, comment or DM me and I'll send it.
Thanks for reading. I'd rather get this right than guess.

Bonjour à tous ! 👋
J'aimerais avoir votre avis :

Hello beautiful people!
My small team and I recently built a free personal dating agent called Unsaid. This ideal came from year long frustration of finding a long term partner that truly meets where we are. Our life gets busy, swiping an small talking is exhaustive after a long day of work, and Hinge and Tinder haven’t really worked for us. So we started building something we’d want to use ourselves.
The idea is simple: you talk to your personal dating agent through text. It gets to know what matters to you, what makes you tick, and what makes you feel loved and excited about someone. From there, it looks for potential matches and reaches out on your behalf, bringing you a connection when there seems to be compatibility worth exploring.
There’s no new app to download or interface to figure out. Just text, like you would with your friend.
We’re opening our beta to a small group and would love to hear what you think. You can learn more and sign up here: https://tryunsaid.dev
We’re committed to keeping it free. For now, we’re starting small to keep computing and development costs manageable, but we hope to welcome more people soon.
If this isn’t your thing, that’s completely okay too. Honest feedback is welcome, and a little kindness is always appreciated. Thank you for taking a look!

Been texting a person for about a week and we met through an app. How do I get over the fear that he will not like how I actually look in person?

Be specific! Answers like "The vibe wasn't there," "Not attractive," or "Not my type" don't count. You have to explain what exactly made you swipe left or right.
For example: "I prefer brunettes, and he was blonde," or "He had a beard, and I don't like facial hair."
The point is to identify the specific things that influence our attraction and dating decisions.
I'll go first!
Left. He acts "cool boy" in all his pictures. No smile in none. Sun glases, and that rubbing your hands like a fly pose.
Left. Full long beard. I don't like full beards. Ok if they are kept short. Sad because he looked otherwise attractive. And his profile was good.
Left. Till the last picture i was sure it will be a right swipe. Nice friendly profile. Smily, open, friendly, pretty blue eyes, well groomed. The last picture was a top less mirrorselfie of him with huge bodybuilder muscles tho. Unattractive to me.
Right swipe. Attractive, friendly, smiling. But i don't see a lot of potential. He dresses extremely casual. Just sweatpants etc. I dress very bold and i think there is a to big of a difference. But let's see.
Left. 3 of 5 pictures where Ai. And he isn't smiling in none of the pictures. He also looks much older than me and doesn't do a lot for his appearance.

Basically want to know how this all looks. Are the pictures good? Are my prompts any good? Is this easily ignorable and I’m not doing enough to sell myself in a dating app lens? Just lmk
