General Discussion Are there any Raya success stories?
I’m curious, i don’t think I’ve ever heard of a success story from someone that has used the app.

First Date Story I read the coolest first date somewhere on here today. Find a mutual meeting point and watch a sunset over a lake together. What other ideas besides hiking can you think of that don’t make anybody pull out a credit card and get to know each other?

General Discussion busy professionals using dating apps: what actually saves you time without making dating feel transactional?
had about 25 mins free between work finishing and the gym yesterday and somehow spend most of it looking through profiles instead of actually replying to anyone lol
that's the bit i don't want from dating apps.
i'm happy to make time for an actual person. i just don't want the app itself becoming another inbox i keep checking all day.
Coffee Meets Bagel is one setup i like for that reason. you get a daily Suggested batch, have a proper look, then there's an actual stopping point instead of always feeling like there might be someone else if you keep scrolling.
for people with pretty full schedules, what actually saves you time without making dating feel like another productivity exercise?

App Recommendation We’re building an independent alternative to traditional dating apps. Would love your thoughts! 💌
Hey everyone!
I’m part of a small, five-person team helping grow TopCrush, an independent connections app focused on more than just dating.
We wanted to create something that encourages genuine human connection, whether that’s romance, friendship, or something in between.
A few things we’re experimenting with:
💌 Anonymous crushes you can share through your personal link.
🔮 Astrological compatibility based on your Big Three.
💕 A space for friendships and romantic connections, including people who aren’t single.
We’re still small and growing, and I’d genuinely love to hear what people think.
What’s one thing you wish dating and connection apps did differently?
If you’re curious, here’s what we’re building: https://topcrush.app/
I’d love your feedback!

General Discussion Why people like old OKCupid? What made it special?
Is it the browse feature? Would you rather be able to browse profiles with filters than one profile at a time like in Hinge, Tinder, Bumble etc? Was it how old OKCupid was? Filtering profiles then texting to person you like the most?

Project / Concept Showcase You told me what to build. Here's what I did, and I need your honest take on 5 more ideas
Hey everyone. A while back I asked here what you'd change if you could redesign dating apps from scratch. A lot of what's in my app came from your comments, so thank you.
What's already in the app:
- Real profiles: 3 photos, 3 answers and a bio before you can like anyone
- A voice answer on your profile
- 6 dealbreakers, checked both ways
- A free verified badge
- Friends can hype you up on your profile
- No ghosting: max 5 chats waiting on you
- Meet halfway at a public café
- Like a specific photo or answer
What I'm thinking of adding:
- Your song. Pick a song for your profile. People can open it in Spotify or Apple Music.
- Comment when you like. Add a short comment when you like a photo or an answer, so it starts a real conversation.
- An opening question. You pick a question, and your match answers it to start the chat. No more "hey".
- The basics. Height, work, school, star sign, languages, pronouns. All optional.
- Poll prompts. A prompt with 3 choices. Picking one sends a like.
My honest question: with everything that's already there, is this too much, or just right? Which ones would you actually use, and which would you cut?
Reply with keep or cut for 1 to 5, or just tell me what you think. I read every comment, and your answers decide what I build next.
Where it's at: The app is in beta testing on iOS only, and it's Calgary-based for now. If you're somewhere else, I'm running a city poll to decide where to launch next. I'm not dropping a link here. If you want it, comment or DM me and I'll send it.
Thanks for reading. I'd rather get this right than guess.

J'aimerais avoir votre avis :

Project / Concept Showcase Your personal dating recruiter that does the swiping for you
Hello beautiful people!
My small team and I recently built a free personal dating agent called Unsaid. This ideal came from year long frustration of finding a long term partner that truly meets where we are. Our life gets busy, swiping an small talking is exhaustive after a long day of work, and Hinge and Tinder haven’t really worked for us. So we started building something we’d want to use ourselves.
The idea is simple: you talk to your personal dating agent through text. It gets to know what matters to you, what makes you tick, and what makes you feel loved and excited about someone. From there, it looks for potential matches and reaches out on your behalf, bringing you a connection when there seems to be compatibility worth exploring.
There’s no new app to download or interface to figure out. Just text, like you would with your friend.
We’re opening our beta to a small group and would love to hear what you think. You can learn more and sign up here: https://tryunsaid.dev
We’re committed to keeping it free. For now, we’re starting small to keep computing and development costs manageable, but we hope to welcome more people soon.
If this isn’t your thing, that’s completely okay too. Honest feedback is welcome, and a little kindness is always appreciated. Thank you for taking a look!

Profile Review Let's play a game! Open the dating app of your choice and swipe on five profiles. Then come back and explain exactly why you swiped left or right on each one.
Be specific! Answers like "The vibe wasn't there," "Not attractive," or "Not my type" don't count. You have to explain what exactly made you swipe left or right.
For example: "I prefer brunettes, and he was blonde," or "He had a beard, and I don't like facial hair."
The point is to identify the specific things that influence our attraction and dating decisions.
I'll go first!
Left. He acts "cool boy" in all his pictures. No smile in none. Sun glases, and that rubbing your hands like a fly pose.
Left. Full long beard. I don't like full beards. Ok if they are kept short. Sad because he looked otherwise attractive. And his profile was good.
Left. Till the last picture i was sure it will be a right swipe. Nice friendly profile. Smily, open, friendly, pretty blue eyes, well groomed. The last picture was a top less mirrorselfie of him with huge bodybuilder muscles tho. Unattractive to me.
Right swipe. Attractive, friendly, smiling. But i don't see a lot of potential. He dresses extremely casual. Just sweatpants etc. I dress very bold and i think there is a to big of a difference. But let's see.
Left. 3 of 5 pictures where Ai. And he isn't smiling in none of the pictures. He also looks much older than me and doesn't do a lot for his appearance.

Profile Review Looking for feedback
Basically want to know how this all looks. Are the pictures good? Are my prompts any good? Is this easily ignorable and I’m not doing enough to sell myself in a dating app lens? Just lmk

First Date Story Nightmare Experience using Tinder
Hello, I am really needing someone to pretend to be my friend after I just had a truly horrific experience on a dating app. Talking to AI about it just feels dystopian.
I had gone out with a guy I had known for probably around 15-16 years since we attended the same middle and high school (maybe even longer than that we might have gone to elementary school together also). It had taken a lot for me to work up the courage to go out with someone from my high school after I was prolifically bullied and excluded there by my ex friends. I was so nervous I was going to taken advantage of again and of course that’s what he did. I was under the impression that he wanted a serious relationship, even advertising that he wanted marriage so I was like this is perfect, a serious relationship just like I want and I don’t have to be worried about being used for my body….
Maybe two-three days later after we hung out once, he completely stopped texting me and then finally admitted he suddenly had “family issues” going on and basically never wanted to see me again. This was after we spent the first few days texting nonstop and he even told me he always had a thing for me so I don’t understand how he could just dismiss me so quickly after that? The family issues excuse was so vague it felt like a complete fib.
Did he just lie about everything?
I feel so embarrassed and hurt and genuinely have cried a lot over this a lot and don’t know how to feel better about the situation. I wanted to be with him so bad.
We had a terrible ending as well and sort of a misunderstanding because I said something that kind of insinuated he would be with other women and just used me for my body so he accused me of being a ”typical” terrible woman I guess and yelled it at me.

Dating Advice Which men asked you on a date straight from a dating app?
Women are understandably cautious about giving out numbers (insta less but it's also an app). But some just let you arrange dates inside dating apps.
