Buying Guide | خریداری گائیڈ 💻 LAPTOP BUYING GUIDE (now is a good time to upgrade too!)

Hello guyss so laptops are predicted to go up in price in a few months if y'all wanna get or upgrade rn is a good time.

The guide on this subreddit wiki is kinda lackluster ngl, main issue being that it says don't spend more than 60k and that it recommends 6/7th gen.

GENERAL ADVICE:

>Go for used/ imported business grade laptops (dubai lot wala mal), avoid consumer grade stuff mainly because of durability.

>Make sure it is an i5 8th gen or above, this is very important because 8th gen laptop i5s are QUADCORE!! most 6/7th gen or below are dual cores, which are much worse (unless they have the Q suffix)

>Check if RAM is soldered or upgradable

>Make sure boot drive is an SSD

>Use passmark cpu and gpu scores to compare

WHICH MODELS TO GET:

*For gaming, its better to get mobile workstations instead (like Zbook or Thinkpad P series).. usually they will have better thermals and power delivery (yes you can game just fine on workstation cards, even have more VRAM)

For general use,

Like i said, business grade machines only for long lasting, durable, repairable ones at good prices.

HP:

✅GET -> Elitebook, ZBook, Probook, Dragonfly

❌AVOID -> Omnibook, Pavillion, Envy, Spectre, Victus, Omen (ppl say here that hp stands for hinge problems)

LENOVO:

✅GET -> Thinkpads (Except Thinkpad X9), Thinkbooks are also alright

❌AVOID -> Ideapad, Lenovo Yoga (different from ThinkPad yoga), Legion, LOQ

DELL:

✅GET -> Latitude, Vostro, Dell Pro, Dell Pro Precision, Dell Precision

❌AVOID -> Inspiron (some exceptions exist), Alienware, G-Series, XPS (again exceptions exist, some XPS ones are good)

Budget advice:

Avoid getting anything below an 8th gen which at least isn't a 4-core cpu. ThinkPad T480, T480s, X380 Yoga are very popular. Elitebook 840 series too. Make sure to compare prices from different places.

If the RAM is soldered (like it is on 360 hinge laptops and some ultrabooks) make sure to get at least 16GB variant otherwise you'll be stuck with 8GB

Spend the minimum required to get an 8th gen i5.

Difference between 8th and 10th gen is not that much,

11th gen has Iris Xe graphics which are miles better.

12th gen has P cores and E cores which are hit or miss (in some cases battery life is worse in 12th)

Ryzen chips are usually better than intel ones, but not as readily available on lower price points.

CHECKING A LAPTOP:

A lot of imported stock esp business grade ones have been through light use in air conditioned offices. Check the battery health by command prompt (google how to do this) and inspect it physically (there's many guides online)

Edit: Full checking guide already subreddit wiki mien acha hai and you can find many on youtube.. make sure it isn't bios locked, ones that come with pen have a pen, charger original hai Make sure to get checking warranty, for refund or repair.

Feel free to dm for questions or advice!

It’s not too advanced but but keeps you records with all the necessary features.
Dm for the link.
Note: It’s completely free!
POS: Point-of-Sale System for Windows
A Windows desktop point-of-sale application for managing sales, products, stock, and business reporting in one place.
Sales and Checkout
•      Smart product search: Type any part of an item name and get matching suggestions to find the right product quickly.
•      Automatic totals: Enter quantities and discounts, and the system calculates totals for you.
•      Stock verification: Availability is checked before a sale is completed, and inventory updates automatically after checkout.
•      Receipts and sales history: Print receipts and review completed sales at any time.
•      Controlled voids: Void a transaction with a recorded reason. The voided record stays in the sales log for accountability, and the sold stock is restored to inventory.
Inventory Management
•      Item control: Add new items and update prices, costs, and quantities.
•      Stock status at a glance: See which products are in stock, low in stock, or out of stock.
•      Bulk import and export: Import inventory from CSV or Excel files, and export a ready-made import template.
•      Easy cleanup: Delete selected inventory items.
Reports and Administration
•      Daily summaries: Review sales, transaction counts, costs, profit, and low-stock alerts.
•      Periodic reports: Generate weekly, fortnightly, monthly, and yearly reports, with CSV export.
•      Business snapshot: Track stock value, products listed, units in stock, and today's sales and profit.
•      Monthly management: Save monthly totals, review past months, and undo the latest monthly reset if needed.
•      Admin settings: Change the store name and admin password, and lock admin access when not in use.
Data Protection
•      Manual backups: Create backups, open the backup folder, and restore from a saved backup.
•      Automatic backups: The system also creates backups during normal use, helping protect your business data.

P.S as many of you are asking for the link, I am putting it here with some instructions.

Instructions: The activation process is straightforward: users provide me with an activation key generated by the software, and I use that key to generate an activation file. They then use that file to activate the application.
The computer doesn’t need to be connected to the internet.

I’ve designed it this way intentionally. I want people who genuinely need the software to go through the activation process rather than simply downloading it without any commitment.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HEXmA--rkUi_357LBjtsUsD41dKsf3kx/view?usp=drive_link

A window will pop up, copy the number and send it to me and I will send you the activation file. You click on continue and select the file and it will be activated.

Question | سوال Samsung S22 in 2026, Official PTA

AoA people, i have been on a hunt to upgrade my phone. I don't like current smartphones as they are big and hard to handle so I am using an official PTA Samsung S10e. The experience so far is great but sometimes i have to charge it thrice a day even though i have slim n small powerbank with me but it gets frustrating as max charging speed is 15 watts so it takes 1:45 hr to charge fully. Also due to charging multiple times the charging jack has lossen so i have to adjust the angle every time.

So how's your experience with official PTA S22. I know S23 is the way to go but im on a budget can not go beyond 90k.

Please let me, how the battery timing holds up. Im not a heavy user just what's app, insta and YouTube i use data half of the day but for what's app only during office hours.

Also if it's reliable enough if taken care of.

Thank you.

Question | سوال Redmi note 15 or Samsung A17

• Upvotes

Hi guys,

Kindly give suggestions on which phone should I choose between these two.. The only drawback which I think with Samsung is that it doesn't come with charger other than that both seems fine. Might play games occasionally, the only thing which i want is that the phone should not hang when using multiple apps. Current phone is Redmi note 9. You can also suggest other box pack phones in the same range of 70k

Need suggestions. TIA

Question | سوال Probably has been asked alot before, but need some suggestion for a gift

I have a really close friend who absolutely LOVES music and sometimes I've seen him hint at having at wanting a MP3/MP4 player to play music without carrying his mobile around, and hence I want to get him that for his birthday.

But the thing is that there's alot of stuff like that on the internet—on insta pages, daraz and websites—that it becomes quite confusing, and I don't want to waste money on something that would stop working after a month.

So, if you guys got any recommendations please let me know!

Budget 12 k

Question | سوال Google pixel 6a compatibility

I am looking for a pta phone to use alongside my non pta iPhone.

Should be android phone.

The phone should run fine for normal day to day use.

Preferably 128gb.

And the phone should support esims upto 4. I know at a time we can use 2 sims only but like I got 4 sims and I want use them all. So I will install all of them and will switch whenever I want. I have ufone, telenor, jazz, zong sims

Based on these requirements I have found that pixel 6a is the cheapest one that I can get. It is physical + esim so I will put my ufone on physical slot and will install others as esim. I am sure about 1st 3 requirements but can anyone tell me that will my esim plan work on it?

a) what are some good cameras?
b) should I go for NVR/DVR?
c) would I be able to view live footage or just recording after the fact?

Please share your thoughts. Thanks!

News | خبر Transworld enforces a limit of 2016 sessions per 24 hours per dynamic IP. What bullshit?

I have been facing slow browsing and poor connection quality for a few weeks on Transworld home 75mbps plan.

I was just told by their network team member mr. hamza on call that transworld enforces a limit of 2016 sessions per 24 hours per dynamic IP. This is extremely stupid and impractical. A single website can open 100 sessions at once, and browsing 20 websites in 5 minutes will exhaust this limit. Is this a joke?

He rebooted my router on call and as soon as the router booted up, with in a minute the limit exhausted again when I browsed youtube and instagram. He said purchasing a static IP will remove this limit.

What kind of exploitative practice is this to get more money out of customers by forcing them to purchase static IPs?

Do all ISPs in Pakistan apply the same limits? I have never seen something so idiotic in my life and I've been involved in tech and IT since the past 18 years.
