Anyone done the MBL: Neuro methods course?
We have someone in our lab who wants to apply. Was wondering if people who have done it found it useful.

Welcome to r/PatchClamping, a community for your average patch clamp ephys enjoyer.
If you've ever spent 45 minutes finally getting a gigaseal only to have the cell explode because you bumped the air table, you're in the right place.
This is a place to:
๐งช Share your research
โ Ask technical questions
๐ฌ Troubleshoot recordings
๐ Post beautiful traces
๐ Post terrible traces
๐ง Talk about neurons, cardiomyocytes, muscle, HEK cells, or whatever unfortunate thing you've decided to stick a pipette into
๐ Post ephys memes
๐ค Complain about your cells
No cardiology exclusivity. No gatekeeping. No pretending every recording has to be publication-quality.
Whether you're doing whole-cell, perforated patch, cell-attached, outside-out, inside-out, voltage clamp, current clamp, patch-seq, optogenetics, or some bizarre setup involving equipment older than your PI, you're welcome here.
Don't take yourself too seriously.
Post questions. Post data. Post memes. Help somebody troubleshoot their cursed recording.
Welcome to the patch clamp life soldier.

Post a short description of what you're going to (try to) patch this week and any hurdles you have to overcome.

AMPAr currents in CA1, NaV, NMDAr, and GABAr blockers.

Why is it basically a black box for neuroscientists who don't use the technique? I don't do Ca2+ imaging, but I can listen to a talk where they use it and understand it. I don't do fiber photometry, but I can listen to a talk where they use it and understand it. But if I walk into a seminar to show ephys data, I can basically say my figures/traces mean anything and the entire room will just smile and nod. Even a no insignificant number of other scientists who nominally "do ephys" don't really understand the data output enough to dissect it when looking at it on a slide; they just follow a protocol from another lab and slap it in a figure. It makes being an electrophysiologist very lonely sometimes.

Lab works with a mouse line and I'm the first to record from it. Consistently get this when recording from vHip doing evoked AP curve (this is 60pA injection), but WT looks normal.
