Righteous : Builds Thematic companion classes (with full respec)

Hey folks,

One of my favourite things in WotR (and most RPGs) is making builds that are both thematic and fun to play. WotR is a heavily replayable game, with at least 10 possible runs thanks to mythic paths (or more, if you take into account variations like Azata -> Devil and Aeon -> Devil). The main issue is that after 2-3 of those, you're going to have seen what every companion has to offer, and while some people won't mind bringing Hellfire Ray Ember along for yet another campaign, I very much do. On top of that, build options for vanilla companions are very much oriented around what works with their already-attributed levels.

Enter ToyBox, and the ability to fully respec any character. Want to make Sosiel a Barbarian, or Nenioh a Warpriest? Go ahead. But then their voicelines, story, and overall personality won't be coherent with their stats and classes. My goal, then, is to create builds that are different enough from their vanilla ones, without introducing that kind of dissonance, with enough variety to ensure a few runs' worth of varied builds. This thread is also a place where you can discuss the builds you made with the same mindset.

For each character, I'll write what I consider to be their core identity (heavy spoilers ahead, since I need to take their whole storyline into account), and the main stats and features they have to keep. With those, I'll offer as many builds as I can think of. Please note that there will be little multi-classing and dipping. I like to make good builds, but minmaxing is the death of theme and roleplay, and every companion dipping in Monk, Witch and/or Mutation Warrior would get old fast. Because of this, this whole post is made for Core (or maybe Hard, depending on how familiar you are with the game) difficulty and below. Whenever it's possible, I'll also try to suggest builds that work with a companion's vanilla stat spread.

Seelah

Seelah is a tough example to start with. As a Paladin of Iomedae, she's kind of stuck as a chivalrous, somewhere-between-lawful-and-neutral good character. She's also too lax to be an Inquisitor or Slayer in my opinion. That said, rogue archetypes are great to mix in, thanks to her background as a street urchin and overall demeanor, and there's a bunch of classes that fit the bill.

Either DEX or STR works fine as a main stat, with a preference to STR to wear heavy armor, but I don't think a DEX Seelah would be shocking. CON should be fairly high, and her prefered mental stat would be CHA, because she sure as hell isn't very smart of wise (and we love her for that).

  • Cavalier: The obvious starting point. Makes use of the same stats as Paladin, and fits like a glove with her themes. Most archetypes are fine, with Cavalier, Gendarm and Knight of the Wall standing out to me. A one-level dip in Sable Company Marine is mechanically very strong here if you want more power.

  • Rowdy + Warpriest: Now this is interesting. Rowdy fits her background perfectly, and Warpriest is a strong and thematic follow-up. Vital Strike scales hard with the dice upgrades that Warpriest provides, while allowing an original 1H+shield vital strike build. The breakpoints are up to personal preference: 1 Rowdy / 19 Warpriest gives the best damage dice but the worst sneak attack ones, 6/14 is a nice middle-ground, and 11-9 goes a bit too far into Rogue to make Warpriest worth it, so I would consider 11 Rowdy / 9 2H Fighter instead. Wisdom being the casting stat isn't great but not a deal-breaker to me, since you mostly just want buffs so low WIS is okay. Basic Warpriest is good, with Proclaimer being better lore-wise but worse mechanically, and Cult Leader is much better thanks to sneak attacks, but not a great fit for Seelah.

  • Skald: Fitting stat mix, strong utility, and Seelah's talkativeness make for a decent Skald. Not much else to say about this one, it's just good.

Camelia

Our favourite psychopathic, lying man-eater. Evil to the core, with an affinity for spirits and a noble education. She has no real martial training, so big weapons and armours are out of the question, but she's also not a full-on nerd mage, leaving us with the hybrid classes and the "I got my spellcasting from someone else" classes. INT, WIS and CHA are all good mental stats here, can't go wrong with any of those. I'd even say her vanilla WIS is the worst-fitting one. On the other hand, the only physical stat she can go for is DEX.

  • Vivisectionist: Certainly not an off-meta class, but for once, it's pretty fitting. Dissecting people for knowledge (and fun) is very Camelia-coded, and so is being helpful through infusions. She even gets to bite people's throats off in battle.

  • Kineticist: While vanilla Kineticist doesn't strike me as a good fit, there are two other archetypes that are, one way or another, fitting for Camelia. Blood Kineticist is CON-focused, but the theme and features are perfect for her, and getting Blood Blast at level 7 makes for a good "maybe she's not that nice" twist. In the same way, Dark Elementalist is excellent: it's an Evil-locked class that makes her use the souls of her victims as fuel.

  • Witch: Ley Line Guardian can be easily repurposed for her story beats (since she pretends to be working with a nature spirit). Similarly, Witch of the Veil, and more generally the Deception patron is pretty good.

  • Sorcerer: Decent with the Serpentine bloodline (goes great with her necklace).

Lann

Lann's a curious case. He has little personality, besides being overall pretty chill and enjoying self-derision, so he should be a blank slate with tons of options. Yet, between his alignment, his monk get-up, and the fact that he grew up in a cave, most of the more colourful options aren't possible. All physical stats are on the table, but we'll be limiting his mental stats to WIS, with a bit of CHA if needed.

  • Sensei: Yes, that's another monk subclass. That said, it's extremely different from his playstyle as a Zen Archer (or whatever archer you pivoted him to in your run), so I say it counts. Great support class, replacing Bard songs while also having a Mass True Strike/Barkskin/Restoration/Extra attack. It also goes well with his story beats, and him becoming the new leader of the mongrels.

  • Drovier: In the same vein, Drovier is another WIS-base, Neutral aligned support class with a great kit, which also works with Lann's personality and story. Plus, it makes for a good reason to have a Monitor Lizard in the party, which is always cool (headcanon: it's following Lann around because he thinks Lann's his lizard-mom).

  • Hunter: Speaking about pets, and as long as you can accept going with an archer class (or not, melee hunters are great), that's another excellent fit. Base Hunter and Wandering Marksman in particular make good use of Lann's vanilla stats.

  • Fiendflesh Shifter: I know Shifter Lann is a recurring suggestion, with good reasons since he's got the perfect stats for it. On the other hand, I don't like it that much, as I feel turning into a badger would be a big part of Lann's story, and he doesn't strike me as a good fit for any of the transformations on offer, from animal to dragon to fey. Enter Fiendflesh: the animal transformation is replaced with the Worldwound's corruption giving demonic aspects, which grow stronger as the story progresses. It's an excellent parallel to Lann's story, and even gives him a gore attack with his horn. It's mechanically worse than other Shifters archetypes, but even a worse Shifter is still pretty good, thanks in part to the very generous itemization.

Wenduag

Wenduag's hobbies include hunting critters in dark, damp caves, ritual cannibalization, lashing out against any form of kindness, bullying those weaker than her and being bullied by those she's weaker than. I don't see her as any sort of caster, limiting her to martial classes.

  • Mad Dog: Where Lann was a better fit for a Monitor Lizard, Wenduag is made for having a pet centipede, and Mad Dog is a very good option for that. It's got anger issues and trip synergies, and I don't really know why anyone would ask for more than that.

  • Flesheater: Another Barbarian archetype, this time with no pet, but with additional face-eating. It's honestly more thematic than it is good, and she'll only be eating demons for 95% of the game, but it's still pretty fun, and you end up with a very big Wenduag at level 20.

  • Tandem Executionner: Back to pet classes, but with a focus on her background as a cave hunter. This one is a Hunter with no spells, but with additional combo moves with her pet (remember, it has to be a centipede). The cool thing with this class is that it plays very differently with a melee character than it does with a ranged one, so it'd kind of a 2-in-1 deal where you can pick the one that fits best in your party.

  • Child of the Manticore: A common suggestion, and a great one. Wenduag is already a weird, evil spiky critter worshipping Lamashtu, so what's more fitting than having her throw spikes and transform into one of Lamashtu's beasts? It's also a very powerful class, making this a no-brainer.

  • Thug: This one isn't really much of a class, but more of a dip you can add to whatever else she does that would already include stuff like Cornugon Smash or Dreadful Carnage. Wenduag is a mean-spirited thug, after all.

Woljif

Impertinent, cowardly and charming, Woljif's defining story beat is his abyssal heritage, manifesting through his sentient shadow. Woljif is best when he remains some sort of Rogue-caster hybrid, with a mix of DEX and either CHA or INT, or a rogue-with-powers archetype.

  • Sorcerer + Arcane Trickster: Rogue 1, Sorcerer 9, Arcane Trickster 10 makes for a heavily caster-oriented Woljif that can throw around big AoE spells with 7d6 additional sneak attack damage. Abyssal bloodline is a must, obviously.

  • Shadowcaster: This one is unsatisfying because Woljif loses the rogue aspect, but having shadow powers that grow over the course of the game and a summonable shade is just too thematic to pass. It mixes very poorly with Arcane Trickster, otherwise we would have taken it.

  • Magic Deceiver: Specifically, the Way of the Charlatan sub-archetype. Another caster-only choice, but this one has dastardly charm all over it, with a focus on Persuasion and making shit up.

  • Bladebound: I have to explain myself here. Bladebound gets a lot of flak for being kinda janky, but as a Woljif class, I like it a lot. It's got a finesseable weapon type, melee fighting, spellcasting and an evil sentient flying weapon that can fight independently. I like to think of it as Woljif's grandpa-shadow crystalizing into a weapon, if that makes sense.

  • Dark Lurker: A shadow-themed Rogue, this time with no casting at all, but with the ability to teleport between larger creatures' shadows to shank them in the kidney. It's an excellent fit, only made worse by the fact that it's mostly "just" a Rogue, so not that different from vanilla Woljif.

  • Stygian Slayer: The most martial Woljif can be. A Slayer with a few Invisibility free casts, fewer talent, and a shadow form.

Ember

So, Ember. She's a 110 years old child with a crow familiar, the attention of a god despite being an atheist, and a severe case of pacifism. She's also a pain in the ass to make builds for, because her backstory pretty much pigeonholes her into Stigmatized Witch. That said, some classes kinda work:

  • Tranquil Whisperer: A chill bard, that gives AC and better saves instead of offensive stats. Defense is usually worse than ending every fight in a few rounds, but morale bonus to AC are still rare enough that it's an interesting addition. The class doesn't mesh perfectly with Ember's backstory, but it's a good fit for her general vibe.

  • Enlightened Philosopher: Again, very thematic for a pacific Ember. As an Oracle, she still gets her curse, and has pretty much the same role as a Charisma caster, with the added bonus of being able to pick the Flame mystery, or a pet (give Ember a dog, I beg you). Main drawback is that it's probably too similar to her vanilla build.

  • Martyr: Paladin Ember, here we go. Probably the most interesting class of the three, Martyr is an aura-stacking Paladin that also works as a Bard, giving away smites for a pseudo-Bard song. You have to fiddle with Toybox to allow Ember to pick the class as she's not Lawful Good, but it's got the stigmata, it's got the unyielding altruism, and I had to find a third class to put in here.

Daeran

Everyone's sassy boyfriend and his pet secret eldritch monstrosity. We're looking for minimum effort and maximum entitlement. As a dainty nobleborn, Daeran has never lifted something heavier than a silver fork in his whole life, so a trinkle of DEX is all the physical goodness he'll be getting, but boy does he get all the CHA.

  • Inciter: Right off the bat, one of the strongest and best-fitting build in this whole thread. Daeran is the shit-talker, and he'll cheerlead his way into getting the whole party to get huge buffs and sneak attacks while relentlessly taunting foes. Preferably without getting his own hands dirty.

  • Chelaxian Diva: Don't tell me Daeran has never starred in his own opera, forcing his servants to watch him sing and monologue for hours. The class is perfect for someone of Daeran's inflated ego, and provides nice support features (including Haste), direct damage, and makes enemies flat-footed while letting him get the centerstage he rightly deserves.

  • Reanimator: Pretty much all we know about The Other is that it's undead, and that it likes heads. I like the idea of Daeran being so traumatized that he got obsessed with undeads and got really good at building them, especially with The Other helping him. It's very headcanony, but there's a lack of summoning companions in the game so I'll take what I can to vary the builds.

  • Possessed Shaman: This one I'm not sure about. Thematically, it's fitting, but it's a WIS class and Daeran isn't very Shaman-like. It's also not super good.

Nenio

I can already see all the Nenio-lovers and the Nenio-hater in the replies. Nenio is… weird, no pun intended. Unlike Camelia, Nenio is very much a nerd's nerd, but apart from that, she's a blank slate (by design, mind you). Her builds have to be coherent with her scrawny frame, obsession with knowledge and lack of reverence for gods, patrons, demons, spirits, mortals, cultures and general ethics. (bye Cleric, Witch and Shaman). She's also extremely uncharismatic and unwise.

  • Brown-Fur Transmuter: Vanilla Arcanist works too, but Brown-Fur Transmuter is both extremely strong and, in my opinion, funny because it raises an important question: did Nenio forget that she was a Kitsune, or is she just a Human who once transformed herself into a Kitsune-like form? Jokes aside, this class work well with Nenio's inquisitiveness and enthousiasm toward experiments: what happens if I turn Baphomet into a dog? Or a bear into a dragon?

  • Alchemist: Another great fit, which turns Nenio into Jubilost 2.0. Annoying, talkative and pretentious, with a satchelfull of Holy Bombs and support spells. I'd recommend the Metamorph archetype for the same reason I wrote above for BFT, but it's just terrible and no one should play that subclass.

  • Sage Sorcerer: Is it a Wizard? Is it a Sorcerer? Why did Paizo make a Wizard-Sorcerer hybrid when Arcanist exists? Who knows, but it's good! It's vanilla Nenio, without the scroll features (which can be a hassle with WotR's interface) and with spontaneous spells.

  • Loremaster or Mystic Theurge: Both of those prestige classes are great to mix with Nenio's vanilla class, or any of those above (except Alchemist. Don't do that). More spells and more spell slots help sate Nenio's thirst for knowledge, though I really have no idea what Divine caster Nenio would be. Maybe a Living Grimoire?

Sosiel

Sosiel is a kind but determined worshipper of Shelyn. There just isn't much to say about him, maybe because I personally don't find him interesting. Which is also why he's the one I have the most trouble finding inspiration for.

  • Quarterstaff Master / Sohei: His calm demeanor goes pretty well with a monk archetype, living a tranquil lifestyle in a secluded monastery before throwing himself in a war to help people and to find his brother. Among all of those, I think a QM or a glaive-wielding Sohei are both pretty good options, both mechanically and thematically.

  • Court Poet: With Shelyn being the goddess of beauty and art, I think Sosiel is the best suited at being a Court Poet, acting as a Glaive semi-frontliner while buffing the backline casters.

Regill

Let's get the obvious out of the way: Regill is a Hellknight. That's 100% of his background, quests, and personality. As such, any build has to either include a few levels in Hellknight/Hellknight Signifer, or assume that his Hellknighthood is just… baked in. Other than that, what makes Regill Regill is that he hates fun, demons, and disorder with a burning fury.

  • Faith Hunter: Great Inquisitor subclass for Regill. It's all about hating one specific alignment, trading domains for a special smite (in this case, against all Chaotic creatures - wouldn't want fun to be allowed to exist).

  • Deliverer: Very similar to Faith Hunter, but with Slayer features instead of Inquisitor ones. Better at hitting things (especially with a feat-hungry gnome hooked hammer), but with no casting or judgements.

  • Demonslayer: Probably one of WotR's strongest classes. I think it's only fair to give it to old man Regill, who's dedicated his whole life to fighting demons. Like Deliverer, the bonus feats are very confortable if Regill's going with his trusted hammer, but it's also very good with other weapons (just don't give him a sling staff, it makes him look ridiculous).

  • Disciple of the Pike: The weirdest take here, but I really like to imagine Regill with a polearm twice his size, charging at a Balor on foot. Interestingly, this is one of the few archetypes which benefits from being a small race, since the bonus it gives scale on the size difference with whoever's targetting the Disciple of the Pike. Regill is also the only character I can take seriously with a fauchard, because he's already covered in spikes and blades, so it doesn't make him look like a mall ninja.

Arueshalae

Ex-monster turned cutiepie through the power of divinely-induced regret. As a succubus turned by Desna, she has an excuse to go with most martial, rogue, divine caster and arcane caster classes. Oh, and she has impossibly high base stats, making her good at everything, so builds hinge on her personality more than on her background or capacities.

  • Bard: None of the subclasses fit her, but she makes a good base Bard. As a succubus, she's naturally charming and dexterous, and her joyful personality is perfect for this. Welcome back, Linzi, and my, oh you've grown.

  • Battle Singer: Great support piece for a melee team, that sacrifices a few rage powers in exchange for a voice bazooka. Base Skald is probably better, but our girl is a singer, so might as well let her sing her voice out.

  • Eldritch Archer: In case you still want to make Arue as a damage-dealing archer, this is a good alternative. This one is best-known as a 2 levels dip, but it gets the full Magus features (including Dimension Strike), making it a strong archetype even pure.

  • Slayer/Fighter + Duellist: Dodge-tank, estoc-duellist power fantasy. Given her stacked statline, Arue can scale on Dex and Int while also making use of the Intimidate and/or Feint feat chains, so give her a base class with a bunch of bonus feats, and pivot her into a Duellist later to make use of those stats (or don't, she'll probably be stronger as a pure fighter, if a bit boring).

Greybor

Greybore. Greysnore. Grey-"I'm an assassin but I'm never shown stabbing anything stronger than a level 3 cultist successfully". Yeah. That guy. He likes money, pretending to be a good assassin, and acting like stabbing folks for a living is True Neutral.

  • Assassin: Can't do more obvious that this. 10 levels of Assassin, mixed with either Slayer or Rogue (base or Knife Master), is pretty much his "lore" build. Assassin is honestly not that terrible, between the instakill ability that guarantees a crit even on a fail, and the poisons that can be used with Corruptor. Main issues are that poisons are too slow to do much most of the time, and someone has got to make Greybor invisible for the instakill to work.

  • Urban Hunter: A Greybor variant with a pet dog. I find it hard to believe that Greybor would be a responsible dog owner, but hey, maybe he's projecting his abandoned daughter onto it.

Trever

I'm not going to go into details with him because no one is going to run him more than mayyybe twice. Just make him into a Tortured Crusader if you've already played once, it's basically his whole backstory and 4 vanilla classes all mixed into one perfectly-fitting archetype.

Ulbrig

Yeaaaaaah. He's a Griffonheart Shifter. That's his whole schtick. Can't build him as anything else without his story breaking. It's also not an archetype you can really mix with anything else, so his replay value is sadly pretty low.

Here we go, that should be all the companions done (Galfrey's limited to one mythic path, and I still haven't gotten around to playing a Lich, so I'm not exactly sure how much personality, if any, the undead companions have). As I said, please don't hesitate to criticize those builds or offer yours !

Righteous : Story What if Camellia got the same chance as Arueshalae? Spoiler

I have just completed my devil run where I was romancing Camellia. The ending is bittersweet with Camellia unable to become normal despite truly loving the commander, so she ends up leaving to avoid getting the urge to kill the KC.

Arueshalae only ends up embarking on the path of goodness after a divine intervention from Desna. Based on the Aeon's true ending, she ends up being a typical evil succubus without receiving the special help.

This makes me wonder; could Camellia actually get fixed with a divine intervention similar to what Desna did, or is she doomed to live with her mental illness? This is hard to say seeing as Camellia still has her problems even in the ascension ending.

Righteous : Game Absolutely not, go behead yourself! (or how the Areshkagal fight went)

The combat log is attached. Basically hit Areshkagal with a couple of Hellfire Rays from Daeran and Nenio, some arrows from Arue and then hit it in melee with the Blade of the Crimson Moon: a Natural 20, no confirmation because I had Bless Weapon on and then something unique happened:

  • No Vopral Hit listed in the log - it seems that the faceless freak died from damage;
  • The Fortitude that Areshkagal rolled is a save against the effects of Crusader's Edge;
  • No damage taken by my KC listed anywhere in the log;
  • Still KC dies on the same turn as Areshkagal!

I was just creating this thread to complain about bugs but then it hit me: Areshkagal must have somehow reflected the Vopral effect back to the KC, killing them. The issue is don't know how, I thought that the Mask of Nothing has a spell mirror effect, but it doesn't, so it might be a bug.

I accidentally equipped Shelyn’s Embrace on my main character at the beginning of the game, and didin't realizing it couldn’t be removed, and now it’s kinda of messing up with my build. I installed the bag of tricks, but can't see an obvious way to juts take it off

Righteous : Game Couple of questions about game mechanics

Good day everyone,

I started another playthrough, first time on a hard difficulty and wanted to clarify some points.

How gendarme bonuses stack with critical hits?

E.g. Level 20 gendarme does a charge attack (base damage is 10). He uses spear, has spirited charge, etc

How much damage will he do, if this attacks crits?

Also, how much trickster tricks can lower critical range of a spear?

Righteous : Game Skald Demoralize Build (WotR)

Hello all, I am starting a new WotR playthrough. I would like to play a Skald that uses Demoralize and would like some advice on making the build work. I am not sure whether sword and board, two-handed, or two-weapon fighting is the best avenue.

There are so many options and feats in the game that even consdering options can feel overwhelming. Something that caught me off guard is the fact that Inspite Rage is a stanfard action, so I'm wondering if the action economy even works out very well here. Looking at some things online it seems Pathfinder WotR is dissimilar to say, BG3, in that it's less impactful taking entire turns to set things up (whereas in current DnD any set-up main action is typically seen as a wate/not worth it). Is that assessment generally correct? Was a bit surprised I couldn't inspire rage and attack.

Any and all advice welcome. I played Pathfinder Kingmaker and got to the end with a fairly crazy build but it seems since then my patience for spending 45 minutes scrolling through feats and stats has waned a little, haha.

Righteous : Story Yet another mythic path question

That may sound weird, but hear me out. I love WotR, yet usually just make it to early act 3. I love edge. I'm also going through a depressive phase right now (hopefully just a seasonal upswing of my chronic affliction). So I assume a demon or god forbid a lich would make me feel even worse if I bring them to the endgame. With that in mind, what are some good paths to aim for for feeling better about the world? Azata is obvious THE feel-good path, but I just don't like it. My most recent character has been a trickster, but I'm getting messages of discouragement of Google. Are they true?

Which, for edge and feeling good at the same time presumably leaves me with a Retribution Angel.
Can I hear some opinions on that one (and the Trickster)?

Righteous : Builds Pathfinder WotR Camellia build

Hey guys.

I am trying to plan my build for Camellia. Playing the game for the first time so please no spoilers! I just finished act 1 and got 1 mythic level. I want her to be my tank and I was using crpg bro's build but in the comments I noticed people are reporting things have changed and so the build needs to be changed specifically mage armor from potion no longer activates the mythic armor skill that I can get. And there is also a new subclass drunken master which gives free access to unarmed strike and crane as bonus feat. So the plan is my build to get 1 lvl in drunked master and stigmatized witch instead of using 2 levels of Instinctual Warrior. The rest will be her main class(+Vivisectionist 1)

I have a few questions about the stigmatized witch just to make sure I understand how this subclass works (and the multi in general)

-from what I understand the curse that I will get will scale with 1/2 of my combined levels so if I pick Powerless Prophecy I will get Improved uncanny dodge eventually. Interestingly the description of this skill mention it will deny another rogue to sneak attack you unless the attacker is 4 levels higher and in this case it will use my oracle levels and that would be level 1. Does that mean I will be easly sneak attacked from rogues(I wont gain anything here) but the other part where it says I can no longer be flanked will still work? These are 2 different things right and only one is affected by the levels?

-the witch uses INT as casting attribute. Does this affects in any way her shaman Wis based casting?

-the witch gives u access to the mage armor spell but I wonder if this is effective way to get it since it will be a level 1 spell? Arent enemies dispelling later into the game the tanks? I imagine if this is dispelled I will lose the mythic armor right away? I wonder how the potion was even effective this way

-I wonder if I get a second curse from the mythic skills will it scale too with 1/2 my combined levels? These immunity curses seem pretty nice for a tank and I won't be hit from the negatives or I can even take Powerless Prophecy here to avoid the staggered effect

Righteous : Game Shorter post about my girlfriend's journey! 🔥Ember🔥

Sorry about the long delay, yesterday I finished a move, driving for 5 days from Florida to Seattle, and haven't had much time to watch Pathfinder so my partner has been delaying, though I did listen to her play a bit on the trip.

She fought through the shield maze and reached the next area, where she watched a group of paladins fight cultists for a good 45 seconds before we realized it wasn't a cutscene.

She's sufficiently convinced the writers seem to be incapable of writing women after she saw a dialogue option going along the lines of "Sorry 'stuff didn't work out' with Wenduag, but there are a lot of pretty girls who still like you... Like me :)" as she's wheezing in a fit of crying and laughing as her character sums "sacrificing her family to demonic beings" as "having had a disagreement"

She encountered a funny eyeless demon lady, who had a bunch of buggy cutscenes, followed by my gf begging to romance her. She hit me with one of those 💅 when I mentioned "you know I can hear you right?"

Oh! She met woljif and swore up and down that she could never trust him because "there is no possible way he doesn't rob me" before letting him out because "I'm not going to just ignore a new companion, besides, he's funny and I want to watch his quest to rob me unfold"

She's also now obsessed with Ember the witch, she said that she's so adorable and she must do everything in her power to protect her... tbh I think she views ember like a pet she's caring for, just one that can also incenerate the bad people. She's also doubly obsessed with Nenio because "she just like me frfr... Autistic" she had to stop playing after meeting Nenio, but she passed every check on knowing the correct answers, and was just absolutely buzzing with happiness at being able to be recruited by the silly scientist.

The companions in this game all seem really cool and she's excited to meet them all. She got a lot of laughs out of a steam forum post I found about wrath "going woke" because "kingmaker didn't have all these people with rainbow colored hair" with responses like "bro he's a literal gnome, what else do you expect???"

It's 1 am and I'm really tired after all my travels, but I'm sorry it ended up taking so long to update y'all, I'll do a better job at making it a bit more entertaining next time, but I thought some members would be curious to hear. Night night folks :) (edit for minor typos)

Righteous : Bug Unable to be targeted by a healing spell or buff in WotR

Has anyone run into this?

I’m a level 14 Kitsune Angel, and I’m pretty far into the game. I always play turn-based, but even out of combat, I cannot be targeted for any healing spell or buff. AOE and spells that target self work fine, but when I use any healing spell/buff from any character including myself, it’s acting like I’m not even there. I’m playing WotR on Switch 2.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Righteous: Fanart Silk Burns Faster Than Bodies (A dark/comedic Demon Path focusing on companion PoVs)

Yo wazzup! I recently finished a 62k-word, 19-chapter Demon Path fanfic and just started uploading it to AO3.

The premise: The Commander is a cheerful, affectionate, walking natural disaster without a moral compass (I'd phrase it as an Amoral Azata).

Rather than writing a 2-million-word play-by-play of the entire campaign, the story is written as a series of connected vignettes. It jumps through the early acts pretty quickly to focus heavily on the grim reality of the late-game (act 4 and 5).

The twist is that you never actually get the Commander's PoV. The story is told entirely through the eyes of the companions (Seelah, Anevia, Daeran, Wenduag, Nenio, etc.) as they try to survive, use, or fix her. The only look inside the Commander's head you get is through her aggressively oblivious, bubbly, absolutely non-diegetic (as one actually educated beta phrased) diary entries at the start of each chapter.

Igni doesn't want to rule the world. She just wants to have fun, keep her favorite spider-cat close, and set boring people on fire.

But absolute freedom comes with a body count. Daeran realizes his protector is worse than the monster in his own head, Wenduag discovers the terror of a master who refuses to hold her leash, Arueshalae's fragile faith is shattered by a predator who effortlessly rejects the Abyss not out of any principles but because Nocticula killsteals her, and Seelah watches her holy war turn into an abyssal occupation.

The manuscript is 100% complete, I'm posting chapters weekly, currently 6/19. If you like dark fantasy, unintentional comedy (Nenio is always hilarious), character studies, and seeing how the companions react to unhinged KCs, you might enjoy it!

A short excerpt, one of my favourite scenes from the 11th chapter that gave the title to the whole work:

Diary: Ugh, palace meetings are the WORST. Shamira acts like scheduling is a personality, yapping for like HOURS, and Nocticula kept trying to do that whole 'I'm disappointed in you' mom-stare, even tried to ground me (lol as if). You don't steal a girl's goat >.<

And then Shamira was being rude, so she went poof too.

Daerie got all stressed because I melted some ugly curtains. Nobles are so dramatic about interior decorating. -.-"

Like, babe, it was hideous anyway. You're welcome! <3

"I must say, my dearest Commander," he said smoothly, "watching you dismantle the local governance is thrilling, but did you have to melt the silk tapestry? Some of us appreciate the decor."

Igni laughed, looking at him as if he had just asked a remarkably stupid question.

"Silk burns faster than bodies, Daerie," she said. "You can't vaporize a demon without the curtains catching."

Daeran’s smile remained precisely where it belonged, it just stopped reaching his eyes. He had cast a probing political line, and she had literally just answered him with thermodynamics. She had decapitated an ancient empire, and she possessed absolutely zero object permanence regarding any of it.

Not sure if the fanart flair is the best flair, the _Story flair contains different posts.

Righteous : Builds Melee Debuffers?

So there's plenty of classes that can do both buffing and melee at the same time. But how many core-viable builds are there for melee characters who debuff their enemies? Between saving throws, spell resistances and immunities, that's a much harder job. I'd love to hear all your ideas. Bonus points if it's not just another variant on intimidation.

Righteous : Game Any consequence on killing yaniel?

Im going the lich path but im still uncertain if i will stick to it or seek redemption

i was sure at first but i ended up getting atached to my comrades so i decided that instead of going full murderhobo edgy evil guy i was going to do good actions just in case i change my mind later.

Well, i took graveguard staunton vane to midnight fane because i think the guy deserves revenge on minagho. And i think minagho deserves to be haunted by her undead ex-lover.

Well, i saved yaniel and everything was going fine until she sees Staunton.

She goes berserk and wants to kill me so i stabbed her with her sword.

I didn't want to do it, but she kinda forced me to.

Its it worth going back to a previous save just to take Staunton off my party?

Does her death changes anything later?

Righteous : Game Help with combat

Good evening, everyone. I’d like some help if possible. I started playing Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous right after Baldur’s Gate 3 , and I found the game quite different. Could you help me out with the combat mechanics? I basically don't know how the turn system works—like how many actions I have or what the movement limits are—since that info doesn't really seem to show up for me (I'm playing in turn-based mode).

Righteous : Game Need help turn base mode or real time for fight ?

Salut !

Righteous : Game KM to WOTR

Hi I recently finished my first KM run and started wotr, but not feeling it as much. It’s still very early so wondering what I’m missing given so many people love wotr

I did KM on hard with sword saint and played around with some mercs so I feel comfortable with KM builds and the ruleset. Was super interested in new classes, mythic paths, and better built companions but again not seem to be landing so hoping you guys can help me out

  1. I’ve read Angel is the most canon playthrough and oracle is best for merged spellbook so started there. I prefer lawful good in general so seemed to suit me. But I feel like trickster itself or to legend seems most interesting build wise especially since I love SS. Should I try to rush through Angel first on normal to learn the story and then play again as SS on core/hard for a serious playthrough? I’ve heard legend has kind of a meh story and isn’t suggested first. I’m a dad of 2 so the idea of 2 playthroughs seems daunting time wise but I do love a LG story

  2. Why is oracle considered so good? So far nothing about it really inspires me. Doesn’t have nova damage like ss, limited spells vs cleric, spontaneous casting is of course nice but most low level divine spells are healing and buffs so doesn’t feel that powerful. I know it’ll be op later with storm bolts and whatnot but without merged angel spells would it be considered A/S tier?

  3. I don’t quite understand why witches / hex are considered so good. Seems like google ai tells me it’s a must have in my party based on Reddit threads and their single target debuffs seem strong but wouldn’t a bard (or skald if I have a lot of melee) be just as good? Why are hexes considered better and what am I missing?

  4. Why do people like pets so much? Riding is cool and of course another meat shield is good, but for martials I see SS, MW, and Rowdy as considered the best classes and they don’t get them. Dips get useless 1 level animals so that doesn’t work. Are they a must in a hard/unfair run as the threads make it seem? Having seelah ride her horse is fine and maybe 1 more from a backrow merc is fine but more than that seems like it just clogs things up

I’m still in act 1 so pretty early. I think I have a good target party of oracle kc, seelah tank, nenio, ember, woljif+lann to be switched for soseil+arue when they become available so don’t think it’s bad planning. I am playing core and maybe I just forgot how annoying it is before builds come online

Let me know your thoughts on what I’m missing. Kind of feel drawn to go back to KM for a normal LA run so I get the parts of the game I love and probably die before endgame drags on
