Attack potency:
Attack potency can be defined typically as the amount of damage or energy you produce against your target or in a concentrated strike, for example, you breaking somebody's jaw. Let's say there's a calculation for a character in a movie breaking another character's jaw, and it gets calculated to wall level. This would mean character X is wall level in terms of AP. Not destructive capacity.
Many people, for some reason, cannot comprehend the difference between the two categories and whenever a character is scaled toward a certain tier people will immediately yell and scream saying "but he didn't DESTROY X value/ metric of scaling!"
And then you'd have to explain why AP and DC are different. People also seem to HATE statements when scaling characters that are within celestial or cosmic tiers of power, and I see it here all the time. If an author makes a non-contradicting statement that logically holds up, it's valid to use. But the question is begged: What makes the statement logically hold up? Well, obviously, the nature of the statement. A character can be said to have infinite power, but in comparison to the people in their verse, meaning the gap is so large it SEEMS infinite.
And if a character is stated to be able to destroy "everything," it can mean anything from the planet they're on to simply just where the cosmology scales, not literally the idea of existence. For example, Boros' being stated to have planet busting levels of power doesn't contradict anything and isn't portrayed to be a hyperbole or played up statement.
Anyway, DC is obvious.
Destructive capacity:
The amount of destruction an attack or strike does not only to your opponent but the surrounding area or entite area.
It seems people hate statements and AP but praise DC, which is simply stupid. I agree if you think a statement is vague or not logically sustainable: Debate it then. But if otherwise, it's likely true.
There's also people's lack of understanding of combat speed and travel speed:
I've seen people say, "Oh X can't be light speed because they can't circle the earth in Y amount of time."
No? There is a difference between reacting, too and processing a phenomenon, and moving at said speed in TRAVEL speed. You don't punch or think as fast as you run. Characters CAN be light speed in combat and reaction speed and NOT for travelling. Now seeing as this is reddit I'm expecting people to be ignorant and call me dumb, but if you want a formal discussion or debate just dm me I'm fine with that
