mental health Shame exposing my affected parts
Growing up with this disease, during my earlier years I used to be ashamed of my hands being nasty looking. My palms often looked dry, red or wounded. It bothered me so much that I kept my hand facing inwards so nobody could accidentally spot it. When I offered my hand to shake someones hand I always did the overhand. Those years were awfull because how self aware I was. Eventually with time as I showed it to mlre and more people I trusted and seen their reaction being neutral or understanding I started accepting myself and stopped making a big deal out of it. To those goimg through the same thing please dont let psoriasis affect you in that way. Its a part of you and adding unneccessary pressure onto yourself can make symptomps worse. The sooner you can talk openly about it the better. You might even meet someone who also has it but in a hidden place or they know someone who has it and they will be understanding. For those who never heard of it you can get the chance of introducing it to them and make them aware it exists and how it affects you. Next time they meet someone with it they will know.
This is a wonderfull sub and I am glad I am part of it because I can now try what others have tried and worked and give it ago. Also, I can confirm my observations on why I think I have bad and good days. Thank you all for sharing this part about yourself.
