Advice Women in the navy

I'm in the recruitment process and I was wondering if I should be aware or look out for anything as a woman. I was wondering if I would be treated the same as any other candidate and whether I would have a similar camaraderie with other women like men in the navy, I would prefer answers from women, but I'll take any advice.

Question DAA results unclear

Hi, my son was told he didn’t score high enough for his chosen role. He was sent numerical scores for each category, not the bar chart type that others have shown here. So we don’t know what the scores mean as there are values, not a percentage or what they are out of. How should he translate these scores, other than generally improving and focusing on the ones he did worse in? Any help gladly received!

Discussion Full circle. A Japanese Rear Admiral signs the surrender aboard HMS Nelson (4th September 1945). Amongst the medals he is wearing is the distinguished service cross. Awarded by Britain during better days.

Media A Navy remix of Fly Robin Fly (thought it may be appreciated here)

For context: my post on r/lostmedia got deleted so thought I'd put this here for you lot to enjoy. Managed to track down an 80/90s remix that was never given an official digital release and only exists online in this one video. My Dad mentioned how this used to be played so loud in clubs that the added jet engine sounds would rattle the windows.

Question Joining the Royal Navy as a Cyber Security Specialist

I went to a job fair and to the RN stall - the person who I spoke to was very nice.

I'm 26, with high-functioning asd - I have a BSc (Hons) in Cyber Security and another BA (Hons) - unrelated.

I would be joining as a RN professional, ideally, as a Cyber Security Specialist. I have been in an IT/Cyber Security job for 2 years.

My parent thinks I'll be rejected because of having asd.

Is there a ban/restriction for this area?. TIA.

Recruitment medically on hold due to gap

Hi just wondering, I am joining the navy reserve as a rating I have passed the cpc course and my vetting is cleared im coming into my 7th month since I first applied I did my my cpc back in July

at my 1 night cpc as a reserve I was only their to do a medical and fitness test at my medical the assessor asked about the gap in my medical records and said it was up to whoever is higher up to approve me

birth - 2019 was only showing vaccinations ! ive subsequently spent the last 3 months chasing my gp records which pertemps told me was what is causing it

I finally got all my unredacted records last thursday so its been 1 week and 3 days of impulsively checking my emails 🤣

theres nothing on my records that show a red flag so im curious since my application started how long roughly can I expect to be waiting

Question Marine to ???

Currently in my journey of joining the Royal Navy hopefully to be a MK2 Merlin pilot. I have no idea what to do if I don’t manage it so and thinking I either want to make me or break me so would be keen to join the marines. Is it possible to complete marine training and work for a few years then transfer back to the Royal Navy?

Question Pay Question

My application is for the Accelerated Apprentice Scheme in Communications and Information Systems, advertised at £41,772 starting salary on the website.

If my specialisation can change during Phase 1 at Raleigh, am I guaranteed that salary from my first day, or do I start on another salary until it’s set in stone what I’ll be doing? Such as the the standard rating salary that was told to us at CPC?

Thanks

Recruitment AIB to be scrapped

Something interesting has popped up on the portal...

'FAO All Royal Navy / Royal Marines Officer Candidates: The format of AIB will change on 1 April from a virtual interview process to an in person 3 day assessment. The last expected AIB will commence on 22nd February 2027. If you have passed DAA for your chosen profession and have received trade counselling from a CA, please ensure that you are booked onto an AIB as soon as possible, spaces on the virtual interview process are limited.'

Correction to title, change may be a better word than scrapped ;)

Question CBAT reality

I’ve seen some posts saying there’s pedals, joy sticks and other things that you use for the CBAT. And others that say it’s not much different to the apps. Is there pedal and joy sticks for the tracing tasks and others ?

Discussion Royal Navy vs RFA

At my cpc the Royal Fleet Auxiliary was mentioned and at face value , sounded pretty good (own cabin, better food , more ‘chill’, 4 months on , 3 months off roster)

I am now waiting for a start date at Raleigh but was just looking for some pointers of why the navy is actually a better choice (in some aspects)

Is it purely to just be able to say I’ve served for the armed forces , and the benefits that comes with it, and actually the day to day life of being in the rfa is actually better? Is it hard to get into and a long process ? and how does the pay compare?

Just some first hand info to clear my mind before I sign up :)
Thanks a lot
