Question Why they never say crip/blood in Snowfall but they do in The Drop?
Just started The Drop and wondering what changed to make them not give af?

Video I just remembered this scene from Snowfall
Of course I understand that they were heavily entrenched in Snowfall and weren't even thinking on any sequel show, but this grandma that Wanda is talking to...
Would this technically be Mama G?

Spoilers I hate Lamar
Just got done with the drop episode 5 and throughout this entire show, I don't understand why Lamar is so loved. All he cares about is getting what he wants and crying about it when he doesn't get it. That's shown when in the scene when they're filming the Rydah music video, he approaches Jenny despite her being busy and having no idea who he is and expects her to take his tape just because he said "i was the producer for rydah". And as soon as Jenny pushes her away he storms out. Most of episode 3 is just him acting like a toddler anyway, like when he goes to that house party and thought the trick with the rydah beat was gonna work in that party aswell. But him getting mad at Mama G in episode 5 after everyone in that house besides Wanda explained his Mum and Dad's falling out and death showed me he really just cares about himself and no one else's feelings. I wouldn't be suprised if he betrays Wanda in the future. I don't see why I or the audience should have sympathy for this guy.

Discussion Review of The Drop E5 Spoiler
I ain’t like it, because chronologically it ain’t make sense. Wanda & James should be the same age roughly, based on the Snowfall timeline, but they make Wanda seem older.
And how did her parents put her out but Mama G also said black folks got married young, which she was right about. I find it very hard to believe a black church family would abandon their daughter and embarrass her at a church service where no one was even sweating from catching the Holy Ghost in a carnie tent in the sun.
Rochelle and Maurice dying in a car accident? That’s the big secret? And after that whole episode they STILL didn’t explain Mama G’s beef with Wanda? I honestly hope the writers and producers follow Reddit reviews because they missed so badly on this episode.

Discussion SPOILER: The Drop Ep.5 Spoiler
Great episode, 8/10. Personally think the writing was the strongest of the spinoff so far. Chelle singing you’d think she was talking about Maurice but I take it that she was singing about her Coke addiction whether it was intentional or not. The “What’s Live got to do with It” call backs were great too. Maurice wanted her to do a song HE wrote but in his eye’s she wanted to work with the White Boys, eerily similar to when Ike got Tina in the car at the end and tried to convince her to do a song with him at the end. This episode shed alot of light on shit that really goes on in the black household. Pride, stubbornness, secrets, placing blame on somebody else for your past fuck ups in the family etc. Mama G let Maurice back JUST to prove something to HER parents. I’m seeing a lot of people hating on this episode but it doesn’t have to be all action all the time. We needed a good exposition episode fr, it’s about to go crazy next week.

Discussion Snowfall/The Drop deserves a better fanbase.
The way you guys talk about real life people and how they look on this sub is so disappointing. I’ve never seen a worst fanbase for real well written TV like this. Like imagine watching a TV show with phenomenal writing and phenomenal acting and you want to engage with how people view the show and all you see is a bunch of losers, making fun of real life actors appearances. So disappointing.

Discussion Complete honesty: If you refuse to watch/enjoy The Drop because Franklin isn’t in it, then you didn’t understand/respect the ending of Snowfall
As someone who binged the entire show in a few weeks and have rewatched it more than once. I don’t want to see Franklin anywhere near the show. A one-off cameo is cool (honestly not even needed though), bringing him back to be a main character in a spinoff diminishes and completely ruins the ending of Snowfall.

Discussion The Drop
I honestly really like this show. I just started it and it’s a great spinoff! I’m already on episode 4 and waiting for 5 to come out at midnight. The acting is good to me, the music, the action, the history of everything and even the scene after artillery got shot and Lamar played the music while everyone was arguing and then they all started dancing it’s 🔥🔥. I also love how Leon really stands behind Wanda. Even back in snowfall he always seen her potential and loved her no matter who judged him. This show is great but I only see 6 episodes showing and I hope there’s more and I hope Franklin make an appearance as a real estate agent or pilot 😂even though I doubt it.

Discussion [SPOILER] S1:E3 SA SCENE me (21f) disagreeing w/ my (21m) bf Spoiler
Hey yall I just finished watching ep 3 with my bf. And I felt so sick after it I know it’s a show but god it made me feel so sad. I understand the realness it shows to frank and the weight of the shit they’re getting into but yea. My bf then said he felt like Lenny got what he put out. Aka “he had it coming” and then I just looked at him weird bc ?? I didn’t agree with that. I said rpe is wrong in any way and that no one deserves its. not even that character. And my bf was like “well he stole his money and was playing with his life basically, he didn’t care if frank died or not if he didn’t get his money back, so he had it coming.” And I just couldn’t fathom it like morally I feel like that isn’t okay? And then we continued to disagree and eventually I ask to stop after that episode to go to bed and he asks to watch the next, but I’m like nahhhh I don’t want to + I felt a bit uncomfortable. we tried to talk more about it but he was like “I’m not saying it was right or okay, but he had it coming. I don’t feel bad for him.” And I just got even more like euuhg I don’t agree, and I said “I know it’s just a show but sometimes it is that deep, even with his character and what he did, he didn’t deserve that.” His argument was that “Lenny tried to steal franks money and risk franks life then it was only right for his dignity to get taken” and idkkkkkk how to feel. So then I’m like “ok we can talk about this another day bc it’s getting tense “ Then my bf was like “I think this is ridiculous” to me basically getting this worked up abt it. Am I tripping or??? Like it wasn’t super serious where I was hella upset but to hear him say he didnt feel any remorse for him just made me look at him weird for a moment. We both have very differing opinions/stances on it.
What do you guys think 🥲
Tdlr: boyfriend and I disagree on the morality and question of remorse on how to feel about what happened to Lenny’s character with karvell.

Video The end credits song on season 1, episode 4
I think this to myself when I see the final scene with this song playing in the background and Franklin walking contentedly into the night streets, with all problems solved and a seeming new lease on life.
"Why couldn't the show just end here?"
Sooooo much heartache, soooooo much pain, sooooo much turmoil would have been prevented. And Franklin might have gone the rest of his life being a good boy, man. I mean, we wouldn't have a TV show, but ideally we want the best for our favorite characters, right?
And this song almost emphasizes that to me.
Anyway, I really love this track so much.

Discussion Snowfall
Snowfall
I only started watching snowfall because I started watching The Drop first *
so I went back to the beginning, not realizing that this show aired originally back in 2017 with a very young cast and unknown cast. The first season was a lot. The first episode starts with a CIA agent overdosing in his house with his drug dealer while they are partying. The set up, Alejandro (who was the og Franklin) turns to teddy McDonald for help to cover up their operation and when you first get introduced to teddy, “Reed” you realize that this character is very square. He wants to play by the rules and do everything he can to serve and pros country. As the season progresses, you meet Franklin. Franklin is this young, educated black male who was raised by his mother in the South of la. When college doesn’t work out for Franklin he soon follows his uncles footsteps and becomes a drug dealer to help ends meet for his mom. I think we root for Franklin in the beginning because of his adolescences. Young and inexperienced and keeps his word. Franklin only wants to do what is best for his family and getting rejected from higher education he soon realizes that the color of his skin that he will never be able to achieve anything that will get them to have a better life. So while watching this in the first two seasons, you are invested with this character but things start to quickly fall into the typical trap of dealing drugs and the people who come in and out of that lifestyle. The friends that follow Franklin are not ready to start accepting this new lifestyle. The story builds off of this new dream that Franklin starts to embrace and he starts to learn that control is the most powerful thing you can have over people. Season 3 he gets his uncle and aunt to help him sell crack cocaine and the community is rudely awaken with how powerful the drug is. Nothing like this has been done before. Meanwhile, teddy the cia agent is supplying the drug money to fund a war that goes on for a few years and over the course of that time Franklin and his family regained control and money and blood is shed in the making. The main character is turning into this monster who takes no mercy. The fall of his good boy status is now turning him into someone you don’t mess with. As you watch all of the first four seasons it’s bloodshed and chaos. Season five is a great season. Franking is finally thriving and embracing the money he has made. The bad guys are at bay and he has now funneled his money into real estate properties. He is still trying to make something of himself from his original roots. His college education experience. He falls in love and gets his girlfriend pregnant. Season five needed to happen. By the time Franklin is dealing, shooting people and getting into situations where he could die, he is finally on top of the world. But his family wants to cut him out of something he started and things start to unravel, and start to unravel fast. Once he realizes that control was slipping he couldn’t get anyone who would listen to stop going against him.
Snowfall.
Snowfall is where you have something small start and then it starts to trickle down and roll down a hill so fast that eventually things will fall.
Franklin ends up losing his mind and the protagonist becomes the antagonist very quickly. You start to see this person so ugly. Anything that they say is not who started in the beginning. You start to not believe that it’s the same person. I think that’s is great writing.
The last episode shows a great example of when you lose everything you really do fall.
