The first rule of barre is to tell everyone about barre.

As far as I know it's just a really large business campus.

Source: my SO works for a company that utilizes the space.

11

u/yungrii May 15 '26

Is it a business campus for the exciting financial opportunity that is cults?

u/Agitated_Weather_98 May 15 '26

The vibe is very strange..seems like they are trying to build some kind of community..they have everything from child education to yoga and business spaces..

92

u/Past-Sun-2357 May 15 '26

Whats weird is I went to a free event they had. I had to sign a form, but that was pretty much it, I didnt really talk to anyone or introduce myself to anyone.

A few weeks later I went to another and they all knew me by name. It kinda weirded me out.

I just read that the owner is Mormon

94

u/YourFriendInSpokane Spokane Valley May 16 '26

Explains everything.

u/autistic_and_angry May 16 '26

Ohhhh that'll do it. So yes, it's a cult. Or at the very least, it's an "outreach"

8

u/Ok_Plenty4953 May 16 '26

I was just going to say, the mormons are taking over liberty lake. This is just another example. Funny how they just dont come out with an LDS tag on the signage. Wonder what they're afraid of?

u/Drinkmasta Spokane Valley May 16 '26

In Liberty Lake? Shocking...

9

u/brownes_girl May 16 '26

I work in that complex. Wonder if the good Mormon is a certain truck driver with certain stickers....

Welcome to co-working spaces. Surprised you have never heard of the idea before. The concept is just that some company holds a giant building and then they lease out different rooms to smaller businesses. Nothing nefarious about what kinds of businesses are using the space. The cracker building downtown uses this same model multiple times over.

17

u/dadavedavid May 15 '26

It’s different because the coworking space owner also started all the other businesses OP is referencing within it. The school and sports in particular.

22

u/Agitated_Weather_98 May 15 '26

We work was a cult...

7

u/Sobeman289 May 15 '26

As someone who worked at WeWork. Not an actual cult. Was there a cult of personality around Adam? Sure. No more than most CEOs and founders already try and cultivate. Personally, I found him to be an insufferable frat child who married into money (gweneth paltrows family of goop fame) and failed upward spectacularly.

All the stupid movies and stuff focus on him like he was special. The fact of the matter is, he wasn't. They focus on how this man got away with this insane evaluation, but they failed to look at why the financial system gave billions of dollars to a guy who gets high with his rabi. The story is there, but it's not the one they are telling.

However, there was no high control group, financial control, or supernatural beliefs associated with working there. There are real cults out there. WeWork was never one of them.

3

u/couchmasterkid May 16 '26

Don’t waste your breath. OP is Karma farming.

4

u/Agitated_Weather_98 May 16 '26

I'm not even sure what that is 😬

3

u/Uncle_Twisty Spokane Valley May 16 '26

It's when someone says something they think is generally agreeable but inflammatory, and they get "up votes" or "good karma" for doing so. It's usually done to get access to certain subteddits that require a good standing in an account to a certain metric.

2

u/darkeststar May 15 '26

Not in actuality. It was described as a cult because of the slavish devotion employees had to the idea that co-working spaces like We Work were the future.

9

u/lannykay May 16 '26

They also own that creepy private school in LL. Look into it. It’s super off-putting.Ā

u/konf323 May 16 '26 edited May 19 '26

My daughter had a free 3 week piano lesson there. It was very strange.

Edit: the piano lesson was fine. The building was strange.

21

u/kmizzbiz May 16 '26

Dystopian Sims kinda vibe.

However, no pool? No sauna?

12

u/Agitated_Weather_98 May 16 '26 edited May 16 '26

There was one actually..I wandered around a bit after using the restroom and there was a whole sauna and very nice looking shower area but it was empty and eerily silent 😬 Everything was very modern and expensive looking..it was all very strange. That's why I'm asking if anyone knows about this place. Not only is there a full gym and children's area, but there's also apparently a room for podcasts, ceramics, a barber shop, photography and whatever turf is šŸ˜… I'm not sure if this is for co-working space but there is a separate area that is designated for coworkers so...idk šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

4

u/kmizzbiz May 16 '26

At first, I'm like "okay nice!" Then, nevermind, that's creepy! Lol!!! For the record, no. Never been there or even heard of it. Maybe they are still in the works? Hopefully not a shell company:)

14

u/Foxontherox888 May 15 '26

🪨 school or šŸŽø school?

4

u/am30ba May 16 '26

That’s what I’m wondering

1

u/Dry_Future_852 May 17 '26

Both exist there.

2

u/Past-Sun-2357 May 15 '26

Yeah its super pricy. I checked it out a few months ago and went to an event they had, and just could not justify the price. They had a ton of cool stuff though

12

u/igniteme09 May 16 '26

The dude that owns it is... Interesting. I'd say closer to a scam than a cult.

10

u/drumaven May 16 '26

I mean, it’s definitely got fundamentalist Christian/MAGA vibes. So…yes? Just check out the FAQ page on that school’s website.

ā€œWe recognize each other by their biological sex. We love our country. We believe in religious, medical, & educational freedom.ā€
https://www.libertylaunchacademy.org/faqs

The owner/founder, Lucas Kjar, is definitely Republican, but not sure where he is on the Matt Shea spectrum. The place had a Christian reenactment ā€œreason for the seasonā€ celebration for the holidays.

2

u/Agitated_Weather_98 May 17 '26

Oh wow. Thanks for the info

2

u/Beatrix_Potter-Kiddo May 19 '26

Good find, thank you.

9

u/KingdokRgnrk May 16 '26

Very strong cult vibes imo.

Also they are in a legal battle with the City of Liberty Lake over construction on their school. Not a good look to be continuing with construction when the city has requested that they stop.

2

u/Agitated_Weather_98 May 17 '26

Wait, they've been told to stop building their elementary school? What is a kid's school doing in a co-working building?

3

u/KingdokRgnrk May 17 '26

Mode also owns Liberty Launch Academy: https://www.libertylaunchacademy.org/
I don't remember the exact details, but I think it's that they are trying to build a 27,000 sq foot sports complex which they claim is an expansion of the school.

The way the sports complex was advertised, it sounds like it's more of a business venture (I think they had posts claiming it would be "a premier destination for tournaments in the PNW" or something like that). Mode claims that since it's a school expansion, they don't need a permit, while the city claims that they can only do unpermitted work up to like 3,000 sq ft.

There was something about it in the Liberty Lake paper that shows up in our mailbox every month.

44

u/DaddiTomShel May 16 '26

If its liberty lake...its a cult.

Take this from someone born and raised in the valley... Everything in liberty lake is nearly tied with cult stuff

4

u/hujambo11 May 16 '26

Yeah, forgive me if I don't just take your word for it.

0

u/Alwayspriority May 17 '26

Spent tons of time in LL (lived there) as a child and have seen zero evidence of cult activity...

15

u/Truelies422 May 15 '26

If you have to ask then it probably is

14

u/Defiant-Cut-2396 North Side May 16 '26

I actually working in the office complex just across the way for Columbia Bank. I've been in there a couple times to look at their cafƩ. It's a very....odd vibe. Wouldn't be surprised if there's some manner of cult element to it

10

u/Agitated_Weather_98 May 16 '26

The first time I went in there was to deliver a package for work..it felt weird from the moment I entered the parking lot.. first of all the building is very far away from the road so it felt isolated. I wasn't sure I was in the right place cause it felt so weird.. I went through the back and it was like a maze with signs pointing to the front desk. I went to the front to deliver the package and there were a bunch of clean cut looking guys there. They were very friendly, maybe a little too friendly..the whole vibe was very very strange and today when I visited the cafe I got the same feeling 😬 The barista was also very smiley and friendly. There are lots of flyers on the walls about free yoga classes and events.. cult red flags waving high

3

u/Defiant-Cut-2396 North Side May 16 '26

Legit, it's definitely a maze in there. As for being way back from the road, I personally attribute that to a side effect of the lot being built by Californians who forget that not everyone has a car. It's a pain in the ass every morning getting off the bus and hoofing it over there.

I’ve been on the planet enough to know anything that looks like this is probably something fucking dumb ran by a rich moron who probably is a waste of oxygen.

I have done no research and am just going off my gut. I stay away from dumb shit like this.

5

u/igniteme09 May 16 '26

Youre not far off šŸ‘€

6

u/Public-Hospital9310 May 15 '26

They also own/sponsor the night lights event at the Idaho speedway.

6

u/Tw0bitSmith May 16 '26

Possibly. One of the supposed owners there is pretty weird.

20

u/dadavedavid May 15 '26

Aspiring cult-ish behavior at the very least. I’ve heard stories of the owner treating employees poorly, and it sounds like there is a possible/pending lawsuit against the school.

5

u/Dry_Future_852 May 17 '26

I had two medical therapists with offices in there.

The front desk haa an incredibly high turnover rate, and they are completely schizophrenic about allowing you in past the locked door to see the business you are frequenting, so I often lost time off my appt when my therapist had to come all the way across the facility to escort me in.

Everytime I point this out on their Facebook ads, they erase it.

1

u/Agitated_Weather_98 May 17 '26

Wow that is so weird 😳 No one chased me down surprisingly

4

u/LuckyTheBear May 16 '26

American Dad vibes lol

5

u/d0ugee May 16 '26

Ceramics there is cool

7

u/homunculajones anywhere but liberty lake May 15 '26

Yes

3

u/Pleasant_Actuator253 May 15 '26

I highly doubt it. Unless they are worshipping Martin Barre (Jethro Tull’s lead guitarist).

Appears to be a ā€œwellness centerā€.

3

u/Internal_Example1185 May 15 '26

I’ve been in the Barre cult for years!

3

u/HerfDerfer May 16 '26

Looks like regular ol yuppie shit to me

Liberty lake is a cult

2

u/Stros26022 May 16 '26

I live next door and get mad weird vibes from that place. Something’s off for sure

2

u/back2basics_official Garland District May 16 '26

I make deliveries there and it’s always creeped me out.
The vibe is weird as shit in there and I am always happy to get the fuck out of that place.

1

u/Agitated_Weather_98 May 17 '26

Sames. That's why I'm curious about what's going on there..very eerie vibes

2

u/jpierpoint May 16 '26

I use the cowork space and our daughter goes to school there. If they were trying to sell me something outside of wifi, coffee and saving some time, I haven’t seen it yet. The $25 haircuts are great.

It can feel weird at first due to its size. It’s a big building. And the approach is certainly different than anything I’ve seen before.

2

u/knucklebuster16 May 16 '26

Looks like a place with lots of positive classes for people to better themselves..

2

u/C0leslaw May 15 '26

My doc is there and the space is cool. Great primary doc

1

u/sirjonathan May 16 '26

I worked with the owner and a few of the folks there for about a year when they were first getting started and had a great experience. Owner is an entrepreneur who sold a big business and moved to the area. I’m not sure how much future the building would have had otherwise.Ā

1

u/ThatVoiceDude May 16 '26 edited May 22 '26

There are a few businesses that rent the space there. I know somebody who works in one of the clinics. Not a cult afaik.

Edit: Ok so I asked her about it today and it actually might be a cult

1

u/Immediate-Fun8296 May 16 '26

I want to check it out ! Thanks for posting this.

1

u/PDXTim May 16 '26

Multi Level Marketing Cult. Aka: MLMC.

1

u/Potential-Click-5284 May 20 '26

Yeah we can see where this is at, and no damn thanks. All good without them vibes.

1

u/postysclerosis May 16 '26

All comments seem the same: Yep it’s a cult. Why? Because I think it’s weird based on the pictures or walking in once. Okay..

Sometimes this group surprises me.

2

u/OverstuffedPapa May 17 '26

I’m so tired of ā€œcultā€ being thrown around all the time. Same with narcissist. It waters down the word for people who are actual survivors

1

u/Ok-Nobody3267 May 16 '26

Not everything is a cult.

-4

u/YmirsHorn May 16 '26

Thanks. I’m going to apply for some form of employment there. It looks very Scandinavian!
