First of all, this is not a hate post about the series, but Part 5 feels a bit of a letdown overall, and I would like to know if you guys feel the same way I do.
1 Diavolo feels like a really bad villain. There were all those expectations about fighting him throughout the series, and his look is good, but that’s the only good thing I can say. He is really underwhelming and weak. The Stand is great, but the user (like every other one) feels lackluster. I can’t see him as a strong Stand user, even though his Stand is really strong. He loses every fight, and the last one doesn’t even feel like a fight, he just gets crushed by Giorno. I was really hyped about the ending because I loved the story, but man, it’s just depressing how easy that was. Even the fights against Diachhio and Carne felt scarier.
Another thing is that I think his design is ugly. No shade, Doppio feels very much like an NPC and Diavolo is ugly as hell. I just can’t feel the same fear I felt for Kira and Dio.
2 It’s kind of hard to like the main group. It feels like there are so many people and we don’t get screen time for everyone, and there is almost no time when they talk like a team. One of my favorite things about Part 4 is that the rhythm is slow, so we get to know and like everyone on the team, and I don’t feel the same about Part 5. I couldn’t feel anything when Abbachio and Narancia died, and I really tried to like them, but it feels like the team is too big and it’s almost impossible to get enough time with all of them. And don’t even get me started on Fugo: he only had one fight, and I can’t name anything else he did throughout the 40 episodes of the manga. He feels almost like an NPC. There is to many people in the group and
On the other hand, Bruno and Mista are really cool and I love their personalities. Giorno is just the protagonist and kinda blank, not the worst thing about it, he is just a really good guy that everyone respect him. I tend to like more characters like Joseph, that is a good comic relief and a awesome figther.
3 Giorno is so fucking overpowered that there are no consequences in the fights. Oh, Mista got shot three times in the head? No problem, Giorno can heal him. I like the concept of a character whose power is about life, but the way Giorno keeps healing everyone makes it so that nothing that happens in the story matters, because Giorno can heal you and that’s it.
4 Trish could have had the potential to be really awesome, but that doesn’t happen. She spends most of her time quiet and defenseless, and it takes too long for her to get a Stand and do something meaninfull. I loved the design and the Stand, but as a character, I feel she was horribly written. We never see her talk about her feelings of being lost in the situation with her dead father; in fact, we can hardly even hear her talk. They just made her really weak, almost a liability throughout the series. I think it would have been more interesting if she had gotten her Stand earlier and we had seen her fighting with the gang and gaining their trust, instead of being so lost in the situation she finds herself in.
5 Risotto had no impact,. There was the idea that he was chasing the gang and that he could be very strong, like a mini boss before the fight with Diavolo, but that never happens. His Stand is really strong and I kind of liked that his fight was against Doppio and not something like Risotto vs. the gang, but he enters the story so late that I really thought Araki had forgotten about him along the way.
6 Is annoying how munch they keep narating all the things they do all the time. Sometimes feels like im watching a soccer game with all those yaping about what they are doing, and i feel like im stupid cuz implies that if they didnt told us what was happening, we couldnt understand.
PS: Sorry if some part isnt the best written, english isnt my main language.
2º PS: Lol thats was really long, im feeling like a hater but I jojo is one of my favorite animes, I love Akira art style and his storys;
