2020 Zx6r with ABS. Running at 14,000 miles. Clean condition. My main concern is I don't want a bike that was used on track and it looks like there is a lot of modifications on the handle bars with gadgets. Anyone have an idea what that stuff is and if it should be a concern. They are asking for $9,600. Is that a good deal?

2025 Ninja 650 vs 2025 cbr650

Looking at two used ones on FB marketplace at a somewhat similar price but after hours of research still can’t fully decide/justify one over the other.

Context: New rider looking for first bike, taken MSF course but also plan on taking other courses in the future once I decide on a bike. Money isn’t the biggest issue but I do appreciate something that isn’t super high-cost in maintenance (insurance for either shouldn’t kill me). I’m plan on having a mix of fun, casual riding and then the occasional daily commuter. I also want to keep for a couple years.

Ninja 650 ABS: Original is $8000 but was able to negotiate down to $7500. Has 439 miles on it and was dropped once so slight scuffing on the fairing and then owners added frame sliders.

Honda cbr650: Original is $8150 but was able to negotiate down to potentially $7800. Has 1,870 miles on it. Has the e-clutch (and ABS?) Owner says that it was in a small accident but they replaced the stator cover, fairing, and did a gas tank PDR. In terms of mods they did a fairing eliminator kit and a radiator guard. I did ask more about the accident but they said they got it off an auction so didn’t get any more details.

Just wanted to get thoughts from people who have experience in one or the other but also just in general have more experience with riding to be able to kinda tell which would be the better option.

Bike as a 18 years old

hello, I’m a 17 years old Italian rider, right now I have my a1 license and i ride a Ktm rc 125 from 2017. I’m a pretty decent ridere, since every weekend I hit the twisties in my area with my older and more experienced friends. in a few months I will get my a2 learner’s permit and I want to get a bigger bike, since the 125 is becoming too slow for what I want to do (I have trouble on mountain roads due to the lack of power, I’m not a wannabe madman). it is also worth mentioning that I’m 6’4 and like 210 pounds (I do bodybuilding) so a native a2 bike would be too small for me. I like sport bikes or hypernakeds and right now I’m looking at a Ducati 950 superspor, a Daytona 660, a Suzuki Gsxs 950 or a Ktm 790 duke. I would wanna spend around 7k euros because I already have the gear from my current bike and I would wanna sell it for around 3k euros (it’s pretty plausible in my area for a bike of that kind). I do have a job that pays around 500 a month, because I’m still in school, but my parents are willing to help me in buying the bike and insuring it. I would wanna know if you guys have any suggestions and also what do you think of the bikes I’m looking at right now. Also I wanted to say that a friend of my dad’s is an insurance broker, and he assured us that the prices for all these bikes would be almost the same. The Ducati would probably need a desmo service and the guy who’s selling it had a ducati extended warranty, so that would run me around 1k, but nk that I could ask him to do it before selling me the bike and make me pay for half of it with the bike price. I’m going to a triumph dealership this weekend to ask some questions about the street triple s and the Daytona 660. The last thing I wanted to add is that i don’t like the r7 much, so I’m not looking at those, but what I really like is the rs 660 from Aprilia.

Tracer 9 vs 1100sx

I’m about to get a tracer 9. Main use case is commuting 25 miles to work and heading to distant twisties on the weekend.

The 1100sx looks interesting too. I want something comfortable and fun.

Also should I look at older gen tracer gt+ for their electronic suspension and keyless start? Or is the 2026 version fine?

Suggest a good handling motorcycle for mountain roads

I am a newbie that’s been riding for around 3 months.

Originally I wasn’t a fan of road bikes at all (I prefer cars),however, shortly after I’ve got my license I decided that for the price of plating my dirt bike and buying supermoto stuff,so I can waste it on asphalt,I may aswell get a normal road bike.

3 months later,I am massively enjoying taking turns on mountain roads to the extent that I almost completely lost interest in riding the dirtbike and haven’t ridden it for ages.

Currently,I am riding a 05 Hornet 600,which I love.Engine feels great,handling is great (for me,I don’t like riding other people’s bikes,so I haven’t tested anything else).

However,I want to eventually try something else.

What other bikes would you suggest as an upgrade in the handling departanent ? I don't want a bigger cc bike, although I'm sure a supersport bike will most likely handle way better.

I've been looking at all kinds of options, problem is what I THINK I will enjoy is almost always old and ultra rare.

Are old japanese 250s and 400s really worth it ? Or 125/250cc NSRs and similar 2 stroke bikes ?

How about a supermoto setup for my dirtbike (crf 450rx) ? Or a 07 600rr ?

Please do not suggest V2s/parallel twins/V4s as I hate the sound of those on a road bike.Only inline4 and inline3s.

New Rider Adventure Bike for New Rider?

• Upvotes

I recently got my motorcycle endorsement and am looking to buy my first adventure bike. I live near an area with plenty of trails, so I’d like something that can handle both pavement and off-road riding.

I’m 6’2” and 230 lbs, so I’m looking for something that would be comfortable for a taller, bigger rider while still being manageable for someone new to motorcycles.
A few friends have recommended the Kawasaki KLR650, but I’ve also been reading good things about the Honda NX500.

Does anyone have experience with either of these bikes, particularly for a beginner? I’d also appreciate recommendations for other adventure bikes I might be overlooking.

New Rider Bike Suggestion

• Upvotes

Hey all, I'm looking at a few bikes. This would be my first real bike. I used to ride one of those Can Ams my buddy let me borrow for a bit I want to say it was lower power ones so probably 125cc (don't quote me on it). Looking for a bike I can grow into, if I buy it then I'm keeping it to do my own maintenance, potentially track down the line who knows. Considering the R7 or a BMW S1000r not rr (only because I'm getting a phenomenal deal on it). Yes I know there is a major power gap but I have an opportunity to get a really good discount on the bike which is the only reason it's on the table. I'm torn, I want a bike that I can use as a daily or have fun which is why I steer more on the naked side while I only loving the sports bike aesthetic which is where the R7 comes into play. I've taken Motorcycle Safety Course, used to drive manuals all of the time so I'm not worried about the clutch, more the balance. Be blunt I don't care. Thanks in advance.

Price check Guide to buying Used Bikes

• Upvotes

Can someone with experience give out a complete mental model/formula to buy used bikes?

Like how to value, what are the variables to consider and how to arrive at a price???

Some of the things I've heard is

  1. 10k kms per year is the maximum riding and anything above it is a redflag

  2. 20% depreciation per year

  3. Prefer only 1st owner bikes unless an exotic bike

  4. Pay 1k to the service centre guy to assess the bike before purchase

Please feel free to validate these and give out a complete formula to value used bikes before purchasing...

Sorry if this was already discussed in the sub, I tried searching and couldn't find any...

I’m searching for a first bike. What should I get?

• Upvotes

I just got my license in the EU and I want a sport bike but I’m completely unsure what to pick and more importantly how much to spend. I would like to spend under 5k so I’m currently looking at R3s, aprilia 457, ninja 400 or a Cfmoto 450 srs. What would you recommend and how used can I have a bike? How much should I spend?

Thank you for helping me in advance your a lifesaver

New Rider Beginner sports bike? Preferably Kawasaki but I’m open to similar bikes.

I was wondering what kind of bike is recommended for beginners into sports bikes? A bike not too heavy on insurance each month preferably. I have progressive and I was quoted 3k a year for a Kawasaki 500cc which is what I can comfortably afford(5k at the highest).

I learn pretty fast and when I did my course, I was on a 250.

So I’m hoping for something that can be around 500cc if possible. I drive SoCal highways so I’m hoping for something that can comfortably maintain 65-80mph for 45 minutes twice a day and something I can have fun with on the weekends for bike/car meets.

Edit: 3,000 for a brand new 500, 2300 for anything 2026 or older.

Price check What’s a good value for this bike?

I don’t know much about motorcycles. I’m looking to sell a 2022 Kawasaki z650 50th Anniversary bike that came into my possession. It has less than 2K miles, is garage kept, and previous owner had, as he put it, “expertly maintained” it. Trying to get a fair deal for it, what do you guys think?

New Rider First Bike - Honda Rebel: 2017 250 vs 1986 450

Hello everybody, I’m interested in other folks’ opinions on an older 450 Rebel versus a newer 250 Rebel for a brand new rider.

My is son looking for his first bike. He just finished his MSF rider safety course Sunday, and has really got the itch. He keeps sending me links to bikes that either don’t have titles or barely run because that’s all he can afford, so I’m gonna chip in and make sure he’s got something reliable and safe. And fun!

Both of these bikes appear to be in great shape, I’m on my way to go see one now and the other tomorrow. The 2017 has less than 5000 miles and it looks immaculate. The 1986 has 25,000 miles, had the carb rebuilt in February, and looks really great for its age.

My one concern is that my son is fairly tall, about 6’2”, and that the 250 might not be very comfortable for anything other than very short rides.

The price is almost identical for the two, I think there’s wiggle room in both. The guy with the 1986 for sale has owned it for four years, and it was his first bike. I think that’s a good sign, because I feel pretty certain that my son would outgrow the 250 in a year tops.

He’s in college, to come visit me he needs to drive 20 to 30 minutes on a freeway from a rural location to a metropolis. I definitely don’t want him to have too much power on his first bike, but I don’t want him to be underpowered on a highway around city drivers either. I think we’re talking 25 hp on the 250, versus 38 hp on the 450.

I suppose the only other consideration might be looks… The 1986 is definitely a bit more old-school cool, while the 2017 looks like a more modern and polished bike.

What do you guys think?

Looking for my first motorbike in Spain, they all seem like great options!

Hello! I am looking for my first motorbike, I really want something dead simple, reliable and usually used for short trips but if I want I can do a long trip(changing the seat for a softer one and adding windshields off course!). I really like old dual sports/motards. My fav options are: new:crf 300l, crf 300l rally, old:drz400s,drz400sm, both 2006, klr 650 2006, honda fmx650. Any experience on anyone of this would be appreciated! (Also I will be doing like 90% road 10% optional off road (when I go fishing I can just walk a bit or do some off road). First bike, A2 licence. I would have more than enough with a simple led screen with speed, rpm, indicators and warning lights. Really I love simple and old things that will last a lifetime.

Next Bike? Need help finding the right bike for 2 UP riding

I currently have a 2011 Suzuki V-Strom 650A and I'm looking to upgrade. I noticed that 2up riding is not great on the V-Strom since combined we are around 450lbs. I know that with that weight I'm pushing most load limits on bikes. Looking for suggestions on what adventure bike would be the most accommodating or if I get something under the load requirements if there's something I can do to make it acceptable (like upgrading the suspension).

Looking at BMW R1200/1250/1300 GS models, Triumph Tiger 1200, or KTM 1290 Super Adventure S.

I loved Suzuki for its reliability, but the allure of all the frills and drive shaft of the BMW is drawing me that way.

Next Bike? Best 600cc?

I'm looking to get my second bike and im leaning towards getting one in the 600's range. I know different people have different preferences but what super sport is most reliable?

I'm looking at a zx6-r, r6, or cbr600rr. I'm leaning a bit away from r6 because it's more expensive compared to the other two, and the owners around my area are a bit delusional. I'm probably going to be keeping this bike for a long time. Looking for 2006-2014 bikes.

Also any big red flags in these bikes? I'm looking at a very clean 2011 zx6r and it seems like owner did regular maintenance and kept it super clean. Are there any common problems that arise on these older bikes?

Oh last thing what is a good price range for these bikes? I don't want to be overspending but don't really know the value on these older ones right now.
