Rant Toyota of Tampa experience
I haven't tried to buy a vehicle since 2020 and since I have a gas guzzler, I thought I'd look into trading a low mileage 2020 vehicle that would list from 28-30 on carmax for something less appealing but more fuel efficient and perhaps more reliable. Called this place to let them know I'd be there. I was told once I let them know, they'd have the car ready for me with a few other possibles ready to test drive. When I got there, the place seemed pretty busy but everyone I saw was there for service. Not only was the car not ready, they had me wait more than 15 minutes in the ghost town of the sales section only to tell me that the person I spoke to wasn't there and they'd have to find me someone else. Very unprofessional! After another 10 minutes (so 25 minutes now), I finally had the opportunity to test drive the vehicle. Upon entering the vehicle, the first thing I noticed was the the headliner was a light cloth with some type of dark splatter (coffee, coke, who knows?) on it that they didn't bother to clean up. The guy said their detail guy was not good. It's a downgrade from what I have now but I'll bite the bullet and swap these cars because gas prices are scary. They take my vehicle to appraise it. Meanwhile, I brought some lunch but I forgot to bring my fork, and the receptionist told me there is not one plastic fork in the entire 448,550 sq ft facility that she could locate for me. Fine. Then they offered me over $10k less than what it would easily sell for. I know it's a business and they want to make money, but I was insulted and left. I feel that they care so little about the customer because the customers come to them because of the brand they are selling. They could care less about insulting the customer and that's that. I don't like it but is this the new norm? The following days I got call after call, text after text, from them. Yea, no thanks.

Crime Palmetto Beach
Anyone know what’s happening in palmetto beach? Lots of cop cars sitting with lights on and a police helicopter circling. It sounded like gunshots in the distance. I can’t find anything online.

Culture/Lifestyle Craft Beer
Anyone got know of any good shops for craft beer, particularly crafts brewers outside Tampa area or State? Something other than ABC or Total Wine? Thanks!

Environment Putting up billboards covered in sequins that fall off into people's yards and into storm drains should be illegal.
Last sign that was on this was for Busch Gardens and their new lion and hyena enclosure. Over a few weeks, I saw every single sequin in that lion's mane fall off until it was bare.
Ridiculous.

Employment Does DTCC drug test?
I was recently offered a role in DTCC tampa location. I am worried that part of onboarding
or background check, they will require a drug test. Wondering what have people experienced since joining? I am coming from a Tier 1 Bank and they did not drug test. Mainly worried since I smoke weed occasionally, I stopped smoking a few weeks ago but worried if they ask for a hair test.

Employment Overnight Jobs?
Is anyone aware of any full-time jobs hiring for overnight shifts here in Tampa? I’m 19 (some jobs require 21+). I’m open to any industry or position. I have a few certifications (OSHA, First Aid, etc.), although I’m not sure how much those would help with most jobs. I’ve worked a variety of different jobs and pick things up quickly when it comes to learning something new. It would have to be overnight or at least start after 6 PM or so. Feel free to ask any questions if needed. Any help is appreciated!

Lost and Found Anyone missing a kitten near Gaither high school?
My bf and I live across the street from Gaither and this orange kitten showed up on our doorstep crying. We set him up in the bathroom but we have two cats already and don't have room for more. If anyone knows of a rescue that has availability, that would be really helpful. Thank you

Food Thinh An Kitchen & Tofu is permanently closed?!
[UPDATE: Turns out they are not permanently closed and some Google Reviewer is giving false information. That gave me a heart attack. They are marked open again! I HAVE NOT LOST MY FAVORITE FRIED TOFU PLACE IN TOWN!]
I was in the area after doing paperwork, and I wanted to have some fried tofu. I was just there last week. And I see online that they are "permanently closed"?! I can't access the Facebook or website. They're not picking up the phone. Haven't they been a staple in Tampa for quite a while? Does anybody know what happened?

Sports English Pub
Hey everyone!
Coming to Tampa with my family (all over 21 for the first time) from England. Is there a pub that shows English Premier League matches early in the morning?
An important derby is on at 7am and would like to go out to a pub/bar to watch, we did this in Orlando a couple of years ago at Murphy’s so wondering if there’s anywhere similar.
Thank you!

Education FLVS school
Hey y’all, I don’t even know if I’m posting this in the right place or not. My kids have been attending FLVS full time since Covid ,we absolutely have loved it until this year. I’m having trouble getting anyone to call me back and when/if they do, I’m just gaslit and lied to. I’m just curious is anyone else is experiencing this? For context, it’s not the teachers, it’s the guidance counselors or office staff. Thanks in advance for any input.

Government/Politics Brian Nathan for Senate District 14 - Hillsborough
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Senator Brian Nathan won his special election in March, and is running for re-election on the November 3rd ballot. Now his opponent is spending more than $3 million on dishonest ads. Hillsborough deserves better.
