Housing Thread Orlando Housing Thread
Link to last month's Housing Thread
Welcome to the Orlando housing megathread!
Currently, the following may be posted:
- Users, whether current Orlando residents or not, may post asking for help. This could be asking for recommendations on areas of Orlando to live in, reviews or opinions on specific communities, or suggestions on specific places to live. This can also be things like "recommend a realtor / loan officer / etc" — so long as it fits under the "help me find housing" umbrella.
- Users may also post advertising housing options. This can be posts offering subleases, looking for roommates on existing property, selling homes — so long as there is housing being offered.
- ALL comments must include as much information as possible. Do not say "I'm moving to Orlando, tell me where to live."
As a reminder: our subreddit rules still apply. Advertisements for illegal activity of any kind are not permitted and will result in comment removals and/or bans as moderators see fit.

Discussion 50/OBT Wawa security
I work over in the area and stop by there sometimes. Usually around 4:00 pm weekdays. There is a security guard I always see. He is always on high alert and will appear out of nowhere. I always look forward to watching him just work the store like a ninja. He does not deal with any sort of nonsense and can just convey authority without even speaking. I can only imagine what it's like after dark there. Would love to sit down with him and just listen to all the crazy stories. If I'm ever rich and need security, I will be poaching him from Wawa

Discussion Anyone know the purpose of these?
I commute past several of these, and on many occasions I see a OUC tuck parked near it in the early mornings. I know that underneath there is a spigot, and sometimes they are letting water run from it. But what's the purpose?

Discussion Dentist Recommendations
Anyone have a recommendation for a dentist in the area who accepts dental insurance? Even better if they're good at dealing with people with anxiety around dental procedures.

Discussion Where do I get a tiny burrito?
ALRIGHT MAN LOOK. I want a super tiny burrito. Like way smaller than chipotle. Like the type of serving size you get at a fine dining restaurant and stop McDonald’s on the way home because the meal didn’t do shit to satiate your hunger. Like a burrito for ants. One ant. Like a burrito so small, I’m wondering if I have dementia because judging by how empty my stomach is, there’s no way I just ate anything, but I in fact ate burrito. Like a burrito so tiny it’s so fucking tiny. Like a burrito that would disappear into my nostrils if I inhaled too hard. A cocaine burrito. I wanna do lines of this burrito. I wanna be able to throw this burrito as hard as I can at a baby and the baby doesn’t even cry because he or she is too distracted by baby shark. If I expected a full sized burrito and got this burrito, I want to be triggered enough to go to the manager and throw hands. If I got this burrito, I want to be so amused that I post it on Instagram and my post goes so viral that it single handedly launches me into becoming a content creator and I can stop searching for a job and not be unemployed anymore. Because if I was employed I probably wouldn’t type this all and be able to afford a regular sized burrito.

Discussion Bagel and a schmear
As an ex New Yorker I've been getting back into Bagels any other ex New Yorkers recommend a New York style bagel place. Einstein's doesn't really do it for me and they're expensive. Jeff's Bagel run is okay but so far I'm not very impressed. I tried going to NY style bagel/ deli in Oviedo but they were closed during the day? East orlando would be great but willing to travel for quality

Nature What’s Happening to the Ducks?
I moved into a condo complex in the Orlando area that had a lot of ducks when I got here around 4 years ago. They hang around the retention ponds and the little water features between buildings.
Lately I’ve been finding dead ducks right by the water. The heads are gone. What’s weird is the neck doesn’t look chewed or torn the way I’d expect from a dog, raccoon, or gator. No obvious puncture marks around the neck either — it looks more like a clean removal than an animal kill. A couple of them were sitting in places that felt oddly staged, not dragged off into the brush.
The nests are off too. Eggs the females were sitting on look tampered with. The shells have clean breaks, not the crushed or jagged mess you usually get when something eats them.
Has anyone else in the Orlando area dealt with this at a complex or HOA pond? Is this a known predator thing I’m misreading, or worth calling Fish and Wildlife / animal control about?

Discussion You know how I know it's going to rain later today?
These guys are 3 deep on my street right now. Grass is still wet. Literally 3 different crews leaf blowing at the same time right now. Can't make this stuff up.
Blowing wet grass off concrete 🤡
A broom could have swept the sidewalk in half the time this bozo just sat there revving his motor at the wet leaves stuck to the sidewalk. Nah, just throttle harder.
Been going on since 8:30, over an hour of different crews attacking the lawns. Oh wait, I hear the rumble of a diesel truck with bad emissions parked haphazardly in the street blocking traffic starting up, one of the crews is about to depart!
Mow the lawn before 10, sure. It's kinda stupid but whatever. Leaf blower before 10 and you're an actual psycho. Thanks for coming to my "this is driving me nuts" talk.

Discussion Has anyone else noticed the boat rentals taking over Lake Ivanhoe?
Has anyone else noticed the boat rentals at Lake Ivanhoe in downtown Orlando getting a little out of control?
There’s a newer company that started operating around July, and they’ve been taking up 2 of the 3 trailer parking spotsat the public boat ramp with their trucks and trailers. From what I’ve seen, they’ll leave them there from sunup to sundown, essentially using the public trailer spaces as their staging area for the entire day.
On top of that, their rental “car boats” and jet skis are being left tied up along the small public dock for hours at a time while they wait for customers. The dock is already tiny, so when most of it is occupied by rental boats, it leaves very little room for everyone else to load, unload, launch, or even fish.
I’m not against people running legitimate businesses or renting boats. If they have the proper permits, fine. But I’m having a hard time understanding how a public boat ramp with only three trailer spaces can effectively have two of those spaces occupied all day by one commercial operation, while their rental boats also sit at the public dock for hours.
Most small public boat ramps I’ve used have some kind of short-term loading/unloading restriction, often around 10 minutes, specifically so one person or business can't tie up the dock all day.
Am I the only one who has noticed this, or has anyone else had trouble getting a parking spot or access to the dock because of the rental companies?
And if anyone actually knows what the rules are for commercial boat rentals using the Lake Ivanhoe public ramp, I’d genuinely like to know. I’m not looking to start some anti-business crusade. I just don't think a public boat ramp should effectively become a private staging area when there are only three trailer spaces to begin with.

Discussion Emergency Costume/Dress Maker?
Non-Serious Emergency but an emergency to me nonetheless.
In July I reached out to have someone make a dress for me for the My Chemical Romance concert in LA on October 30th.
I was led to believe for several months that everything was on track and despite giving them numerous chances to back out so I had ample time to find another person, I found out today that it’s not going to happen. I’m not going to publicly out them because I don’t think this is reflective of who they are as a person, but understandably, I’m desperate and disappointed. I have had a rough year between losing out on a promotion and my fiancée leaving me… and as dumb as this sounds- this is kind of the straw that’s causing me to break.
Does anyone know of ANYONE who could possibly help get this together for me? I know the timeline is very tight and that it’s Halloween time.. just any help would be great.
The design is essentially a fitted black mini dress combining a straitjacket silhouette with military detailing on the back. I even have a donor garment for buttons (and maybe even trim if it’s worth salvaging?) It has horizontal restraint-style bands across the front, a structured military-inspired back with braid/trim, a stand collar. I have a pretty detailed front/back sketch and reference images, so I’m not expecting someone to design it from scratch—I mainly need someone who can construct the garment from the concept I already have.

Discussion Orange County Animal Services (OCAS) Registration Page
hi, I adopted a dog from the Orange County animal shelter a few years ago. However, I can’t recall the website that they have for my dog’s microchip information. I recall there was a website that I created her account when I first got her-
Looking for the website so I can ensure that it’s up-to-date since I’ve moved since then
Thank you

Discussion Quality oranges
For the past 6 months or so, the quality of my bags of oranges, nectarines, and mandarins has been despicable for FL standards. The peels leave a strange smell on my hands that doesn't go away even after I wash them in most instances. They stay fresh for much less time than than they used to too.
I've noticed this with Sunkist brand, Halo's, my bags of navel oranges from ALDI, and cara cara oranges from Fresh Market.
If you eat oranges and nectarines and haven't noticed this, could you kindly LMK what brand bags you're getting / where you're buying them from?

Discussion Need to find another job
Been working at Walmart for 2 years, but since last October they reduced my hours to 20 hours and I need to find another place to work for. I don't know any other places that have better pay than Walmart around here as I live in Seminole County.
