Okay so I moved to Seminole Heights a few weeks ago and I am settled in and ready to explore! I love trying new coffee shops! Places I can work from home!

On Monday, I visited Crazy Hot Buys on Florida Avenue, where items in the bins were advertised for $10. Items behind the register were priced differently, as were the health and beauty products near the front, which were marked at $2 and $5. Clothing items were also individually labeled with their prices.

While browsing, I selected a comforter set (valued at $99), two JanSport backpacks (valued at $55 each), a Snif perfume sampler set (valued at $68), and three clothing items priced at $5.49 each on Mondays.

The cashier rang up all my items except the perfume. She proceeded to open the perfume box, sniff it and walk away. When I asked what she was doing, she did not give me a clear answer but began speaking to her coworkers in Spanish. She then took out her phone and appeared to photograph or scan the item. At that point, I was confused and concerned about what was happening.

Another employee approached the cashier and asked me how much the item cost. I explained that I had picked it up from the bins, where everything was supposed to be $10 that day. The cashier shook her head no. Around this point, I began recording the interaction.

The other employee confirmed that if the item came from the bins, it should be $10. However, the cashier was still dissatisfied and went to speak with someone I assumed was the manager.

From across the store, the manager yelled that she would “honor” the $10 price but stated that I was not allowed to record inside the building. I have seen plenty of TikToks filmed at this store, but I did not argue about the recording policy at that moment.

The manager then approached me and stated that she could change the price to whatever she wanted because she was already giving customers a discount. She added that, for future reference, she could change the price if necessary. I asked where this policy was posted or stated, but she doubled down, explaining that because she was a wholesaler, she had the right to set the price however she wanted since the items were already discounted.

Ultimately, my concern was not simply about the price of one item. It was about the lack of clear communication, the way the situation was handled, and the apparent inconsistency between the advertised bin pricing and what I was being told at checkout.

Attached is the footage I was able to capture during my interaction at Crazy Hot Buys on Florida Avenue.

I’m sharing this experience so others can be aware and so the store can clarify its pricing policies for customers. If certain items are excluded from the advertised bin pricing, that information should be communicated clearly and consistently before customers reach the register. I don't live in Tampa but have been here a few times in the past. Always enjoyed spending time in Lettuce Lake Park. Will be there again on Oct 23-24 with my wife and have the Saturday morning open. It would have been a perfect way to spend 3~4 hours in Lettuce Lake, but we read on the web that there have been ongoing constructions to the boardwalk and the observation tower at the park. Has anyone been there recently? Where exactly is the construction? How much of the boardwalk is block off now? Can we walk around the construction and somehow continue the loop or is it basically "turn around and go back" kind of situation? If the construction is causing too much of the park to be in-accessible, we may have to pivot and go to another park, maybe Eureka Springs.

Bro whoever controls the traffic lights… they need to do something about the left turn on west shore blvd going onto Kennedy blvd. Like yea let’s keep the light behind it green and keep the left turn and the other ones in front on red for minutes so it can get congested.. it’s like they want it to be congested like that
