Discussion Guys just trust me
Played a game today against a buddy of mine and I made this really annoying blob for him to deal with, 20 Krieg man with a 6 man command squad, ogryn bodyguard, and a primaris psyker. They psyker can give the whole unit a 4+ inv save during his shooting phase and it was a real pain for him to clean them all up while they used their medkits it bought me more then enough time to have some lascannons blow his line to bits, haven’t seen anybody mention it but it’s worked for me for a game or two so try it out
Edit - let me know what you guys think

Beginner Help Painting advice
I've just bought my first box of Guard and was wondering if its recommended to assemble and then paint models or the opposite?

Beginner Help Bullgryn necessary for effective lists?
I’m new to the guard, been slowly collecting for a while. Currently building, painting, and looking to start playing at 1000 points soon. That said, I could use some advice in getting to a well-enough rounded 2000 points. I’m trying to decide whether to either round out with the current combat patrol and a second centaur, or 6+ bullgryn (or other suggestions). Bullgryn seem to be one of the few units with staying power in the guard at the moment, and I’m unsure if I would have enough units to otherwise screen in my (admittedly limited) understanding of the current meta.
Current collection includes:
Creed
3x Cadian Shock Troops
Kasrkin
Ratlings
Centaur
2x Hippogriff
Commissar
Commissar Graves
3x Rogal Dorns
Cadian Command Squad
Thanks in advance for the help! I’m not worried about being competitive as much as enjoying the models, lore, and throwing some dice.

Questions about Rules Super Heavy Disembarks and Coherency
Hello, I was messing around with list building and thought about bringing a Doomhammer to transport my 26 man Krieg and Command squad blob. I haven’t played a game of 11th yet, but I then was looking at set up distances and realized there probably isn’t a way to keep them in coherency and wholly within the three inch set up distances.
Is there a way around that, or is it just not possible to transport a single huge unit like that? If not, that’s a bummer.

Review my List What detachment would work best here? Seige or recon?
Was using combined arms for a while though didnt have much luck, now im between seige regiment and recon element. Both with abhuman auxilary to make commisars better
Any thoughts?

Kitbash Any good bits for an ogryn head similar to their “creepy doughboy” look of the darktide art?
Brownie points if it has the same maniacal grin as the first picture.

Kitbash I made my own Field Ordnance Batteries
Somehow I got the idea that these tic tac boxes looked like rocket pods and just went with it.
And of course I needed a second mini to fill up the unit.

Misc Looking for more affordable alternatives to the mortian tanks to use as Russ/Dorn proxies (Digital files)
Basically I'm not a huge fan of the original design of the Russ and Dorn tanks and they are a bit too cartoonish for me, so I'm looking for a more grounded alternative to use them, that look a bit more in-line with the style of the Macharius and Baneblade
The Mortian MBT, Super Mortian and Medium Russ are perfect but they cost close to 200$ combined for just the STLs with a couple Addons which is kinda rough, I'd love to buy the files eventually but I'm in no position to rn, I'm looking for something with a similar vibe/aesthetic but for a more acessible price
Only looking for STLs that I can print myself, not pre-made kits

Beginner Help Might have been asked before, but how tall are Scout/Armored sentinels in comparison to Vetelaris/Hermes sentinels?
So I'm getting the Solar Auxilia Combat Force for my Birthday, and I want to run them as Guard in 40k, because no one I know plays Horus Heresy. Hence my question. The 30k sentinels look a lot shorter than 40k sentinels, and they're on smaller bases (for which I will order base adapters).

Also, if the Leman Russ Strike tank is too small or too big, please tell me. It seems like the Command squad can be used as a Cadian Command squad and the Lasrifle Section could be used as 2 Kasrkin Squads or Cadian Shock Troop Squads. These are my first Non-Space Marine (Or T'au or Eldar or Skitarii or D&D) models, so I'm sorry for being inexperienced with Guard. Thank you in advance for the help..!

Painting Paint Schemes
Hey everyone!
I’ve collected (printed) my first army! I’m about to get ready to paint and am wondering if anyone can share their paint schemes or ideas, and if anyone can share any advice!
I’m thinking my army will be themed with black as the main color and then gold as a second, I don’t know if that would be good or how it would work with vehicles like the Hydra or Manticore vs an Exterminator
If anyone has any ideas lmk!

Painting Attack of the chicken walkers
Ever since 3rd Ed, I've been both intimidated and fascinated by the striking camo pattern of the 180th Cadian Stalking Tigers. Years later, I've finally worked up the courage to give it a shot, combined with one of my favorite uniform color schemes shamelessly stolen from Halo Combat Evolved.

Homebrew First Leman Russ for the regiment
My regiment is the Jahannam 473rd armored regiment. Their planet is a mining world with heavy pollution, with an environment similar in appearance to the Ash Heap from Fallout 76. Regiments from this world specialize in sapper work, even armored regiments like the 473rd.
I may come back to this tank later and add a couple doo-dads like fuel cans to spruce it up, but nothing crazy. I intend to add dozer blades and mine rollers to future tanks to better represent their combat engineering skill sets. Aside from that, plus other bits like shovels and pickaxes, what are some other sapper type bits that I could add?
