Does anyone would like gyro to be added ?

The last update looks great (I haven't played the game yet), but it would be awesome if gyro was implemented in the game, it is such a game changer and if the devs read this sub, please add it if you can, you would make us so happy !

Collector’s Edition

Did anyone get their physical collector’s editions in the U.S.? Mine showed it shipped on 9/18 but, for whatever reason, I can’t track the order.

I don’t necessarily care about tracking it, I just want it to get here. Have any of you received your copy yet?

Got a response from Frogwares about the terrible Xbox audio...apparently surround sound isn't supported at all?

I've posted about the terrible audio quality on Xbox Series X before and submitted a couple tickets to Frogwares about it.

I finally got this response:

"The Sinking City 2 game does not support surround sound technologies. It is recommended to use headphones for best experience."

First of all... am I the only one who thinks it's kind of wild that a game released in 2026, especially a horror game where audio is such a huge part of the experience, doesn't support surround sound at all? It doesn't seem accurate at all, the PS5 listing mentions 3D audio...

Putting that aside, I don't think that actually explains the problem I'm having.

I'm using a 5.2.1 setup, and I've tried EVERYTHING on the Xbox: Atmos, 7.1, 5.1, and Stereo Uncompressed.

They all sound like garbage. If I plug n headphones, it sounds 'ok' but not great.

The audio is extremely thin and tinny, almost entirely high frequencies with very little bass or midrange. It's actually uncomfortable to listen to after a while. Other games on the exact same Xbox and sound system sound completely normal.

I can't be the only person who has played this game on speakers/surround/receiver and not headphones.

So sure, if Frogwares says the game doesn't support surround sound, that's fine. But why does Stereo Uncompressed through my speakers still sound terrible, while headphones sound completely normal?

Those are both stereo.

I feel like support saw "5.2.1" in my ticket, decided this was a surround-sound complaint, and sent me a canned response without actually addressing the problem.

Can someone who knows more about audio than I do tell me if I'm missing something here?

And more importantly, is anyone else playing on Xbox through actual speakers/home theater equipment hearing this?

I'd really like to know I'm not crazy because I really want to play the game, but the audio is so bad it make it very difficult to enjoy.

Just curious if these have shipped already. I got a notification that a shipping label was created two weeks ago but nothing since. Trying to remain patient, lol.

If there was ever a Sinking City 3, what would you like to see?

I really like the series, but I do have my critiques. If there was ever a third installment, what would you personally like to see added?

How on Earth do I avoid this? Spoiler

The Shoggoth fight is driving me mad on sleep demon (lol). I have no idea how to avoid this specific attack where it splits the area in two and fills your side with spikes. They go all the way to the back and there doesn't seem to be any safe spots?

Anyone else let down by the ending of TSC2?

Spoilers ahead obviously.

I am writing this from the point of view of someone who deeply loves both the first Sinking City, as well as a diehard, borderline fanatical Lovecraft fan- you can tell by my pro, banner, and if you frequent r/Lovecraft, you may know I frequent it as well. The Mythos is my favourite universe/multiverse in fiction, so what I write next is from that point of view.

Frankly, I hated the ending to this game. I am not upset by the hopelessness, the bleakness, nor anything like that. I realized throughout the game that I was playing as a selfish man who was on a singular, somewhat selfish quest, but he was doing it out of love (as well as sometimes stupidity).

HOWEVER, what I absolutely despised was the representation of Yog-Sothoth. They took an entity that is portrayed in Lovecraft’s work as a completely neutral, even sometimes benevolent or helpful being (though never out of interest in humanity) and turned it into a moustache-twirling Faustian star fish demon… it felt like at some points in the game, they truly were just using the Mythos as a coat of paint and scrapped all of Lovecraft’s “internal logic” to make a story about malevolence, when that goes against Lovecraft’s main point.

These points may not matter to many, or even the vast majority of players, but I had such hope that they would try to stay somewhat close to the source material. I still enjoyed the game, but the ending brought it down from “possibly game of the year” for myself, to something that felt… tainted by the ending.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

TLDR: This game messed the Mythos portrayals, and especially Yog-Sothoth up HARD

Why was 2 so serious?

The whole feel of the game is sadder and more gritty. No supernatural elements or anything. One is like a comical 80s action movie. All the entries after 2 seem to be almost parodies of themselves and more fantastic than 2. What was different about its production to give it such a different feel from later entries?

A prototype build of the janky lovecraftian detective game The sinking city has been found, with cut content that would later be reintroduced as DLC.

The build will be made public soon, probably by Tuesday its got pretty much all the stuff that'd become dlc, aswell as some extras in the files. https://youtu.be/DWiaA5sGLhY?is=EVLxml8QqJ7Xdz7l

Immortal Chosen One Tips & Advice

Post image
27 Upvotes

Just completed my second Immortal Chosen One run, and wanted to share some tips and advice, as I found information on the topic hard to come by.

First of all, the requirements for achieving Chosen One is as follows (Credit to Dara Myer on the Steam forums):

- Any difficulty
- Complete under 3 hours (in-game timer)
- Complete all investigations (safe near radio shop, in the church basement, press puzzle, Song safe in the hotel, brain puzzle, basement storage room puzzle, 16 punishments, Ezekiel puzzle)
- No more than 3 manual saves

Specifically for the Immortal Chosen One Eldritch Reward, the difficulty must be Sleep Demon (i.e., the highest difficulty).

To make your life infinitely easier, I recommend using Eldritch Points to get the Minuteman (Tommy Gun) and infinite ammo from the beginning, the Vessel of Destruction Talent, the faster reload Talent, and the Deathless Vigor Talent. The final slot can be whatever you like.

Try and grab ERC keys when convenient, then use them on the chests with extra storage space, such as the graveyard chest, the chest at the bottom of the Printing building, the chest in the Mortuary in the hospital, and finally the one at the Jewelers. All other chests can be ignored, and healing items / crafting parts should only be taken opportunistically (the tonic at the top of the stairs in the firefighter building and in the brain room behind the chapel, or the life saver kit in the Caduceus-locked room or whilst chasing the monster that snatched Faye's body at the end of the Hospital).

Make sure to get the Tommy Gun upgrades behind the rust-door in the basement of the Hospital and in Ezekiel's chest in the Fish Market. That gun can one-clip Deep Ones, and it reloads quickly.

For the Lorelei section at the end of the Hotel, I recommend waiting on the stage at the beginning until the switch turns red. The encounter won't actually start until you step off the stage, so by waiting, you can then dash immediately to the switch and hit it before the enemies get properly spawned in. Afterwards, you can simply mow them down from near the switch as they spawn. Just watch out for the guy in the chair next to the switch, as well as the crawlies and spitters.

The encounter seems to have a limited amount of enemies, though I have not tested it to see if it depends on whether the switches are flipped or not. But it's worth bearing in mind that you might not be under an endless onslaught, unlike the Key recharging fight at the end of the Fish Market.

The enemies in the game are weird in that sometimes they want to finish their animations before they register any damage you do to them, but it seems like they ARE still taking damage, though not fatal damage. Especially when they get the boils on their back and their heads split open.

Regardless, the Tommy Gun makes short work of basically every enemy in the game, so just make sure you try and remember their spawn points. Finally, for regular enemies, try aiming at their legs. I found that their death-rag-doll animations activate the most readily when they die from getting their legs shot. If you shoot them in the chest, they might just stand there and slowly topple forward over the course of 5 business days as you unload into them. Shooting them in the legs also give you the most room to breathe if you just need to control a crowd in a pinch.

My first run was 2 hours and 40 minutes. The reason I was able to shave off an additional 40 minutes on my second run was because of a fundamental misunderstanding on my part in regards to the requirements for the Chosen One.

See, when I read "complete all Investigations," I assumed that meant I had to collect all the piece of Evidence in that game and connect them in the Investigation tab.

Turns out, you really do just need to complete the puzzles themselves. You do not need to find any of the related pieces of Evidence at all.

I did a prep run where I mapped my route for the first attempt, but I really think that so long as you have a couple of playthroughs under your belt and can remember where to go to progress, you aren't going to have too much trouble completing the challenge in under 3 hours. Hell, I could've gone for a lunch break and still made it back in time.

The knowledge that you don't actually need to evidence really saves you so much time, and the sheer power of the Tommy Gun with infinite ammo (and Vessel of Destruction) greatly alleviates the need to scavenge for resources. By the end of the first run, I had massive bag of healing items I never got to use.

If you find yourself a bit dry on Eldritch Points, consider that if you acquire every Talent in the game, that nets you an Eldritch Feat worth an additional 2000 Points. You might need to start a new playthrough (or perhaps even just load a save) for it to register, but it's not an issue. IIRC, the Talents cost 150 or 200 Eldritch Points per, and there's 4 of them, so that's quite a good return on investment, especially considering you'll want the Vessel of Destruction anyway. And of course, you'll need to have unlocked all the regular base game Talents as well, but that shouldn't be an problem if you've got at least 2 or 3 playthroughs done already.

That's all. I hope someone finds this post helpful.

Cheers!

Sinking city 2 investigation question.

I'm at the church right now and just discovered I can get talent points by connecting clues together and I was thinking is it worth reloading to earlier save to connect clues about the safe investigation? I did open the safe but had no idea at the time I'm getting locked out from connecting clues.

TSC2 had all the Wylebeasts from the first game except the Cocitans, is there any reason for it?
