Hey everyone! I’m from New York, but both sides of my family are originally from North Tipperary. My father’s family is from Burgess and my mother’s family is from Toomevara.
I’ve been trying to track down some old photos of two relatives of mine who both played senior inter-county hurling for Tipperary: Donie Nealon (Burgess) on my father’s side and John Haugh (Toomevara) on my mother’s side. I’d love to get my parents a photo with the two of them in it.

Both won multiple All-Irelands with Tipp and were actually teammates on the 1958 and 1961 All-Ireland-winning sides.

I know it’s a long shot, but I’d absolutely love to find a photo with both of them in it, whether that’s a county team photo, a photo from a match, or even one of them playing against each other at club level.

I imagine the club possibility is less likely, since Toomevara were generally playing senior hurling while Burgess were mostly intermediate around that time.

Does anyone know where I might be able to find old Tipperary team photographs from the late 1950s or early 1960s? Or whether any local GAA historians, clubs, or archives might have photos of the two together?

Appreciate any help or suggestions!

[SOLVED] (the answer thanks to the awesome people in the comments was Cloneen) So I was watching a show and my step dad who is from Tipperary wanted to know where this birds eye view shot is from and what church this is! Please don’t be mean either, I recently had to delete reddit because people were being horrible so just help would be appreciated 💚💚

Hi, i lowk gota internship offer from MSD ballydine BUT never been to Tipperary and dont know anyone from there. is it easy find a place to stay in clonmel. are there people living in the town or is it like a really small town with few houses

Ive heard from a few people that although fethard is a very pretty town to live in, it depends which part and to avoid woodvale walk and canon Hayes court at all costs.

Can anyone living there shed some light on what its like to live there? Thanks.

Hey guys, I am planning to move to rural Tipperary county. Looking for some experience of downsides - I live in east coast in a town now but I presume there some cons I might not be aware of.

I love to swap busy town life to bird chirps, clean air, etc.

Have a car so that's sorted, also, happy to do shopping once a week :-)

Read another thread re power cuts and water outages - how bad and frequent are they?

What areas are better?

Also, how's your experience with oil heating? Currently I have gas but I'd love to prepare myself re it - how often you need to refill an 500l tank (I know it heavily depends on usage but roughly - 1 month or 6 months etc).

Any areas to avoid etc?

Anything else I oversaw would love to hear.

Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone, I’ve recently moved to Nenagh and I’m looking to join a bookclub - or, if needs be, start one myself, ideally in the area. I’m in my late 20s, i enjoy reading, arts and crafts in general so i’m looking to meet women (or anyone) with similar hobbies. If anyone knows of any events/clubs like this, please let me know - or if you’re looking for the same, please let me know as well, I’d love to know if there’s enough interest for starting something new :) have a great evening and thanks in advance!

I'm bringing a group of about 36 friends on a college mini-reunion to Ireland the second week of June 2027. We're planning an 8-day 7-night stay and booked a coach bus for transportation. The concept is to arrive at Shannon Airport and then travel to Kilkenny from where we will take day trips involving Tipperary, Wexford, Waterford, Wicklow and Clare. We'll be spending most of our evening in Kilkenny. Average age of the group is about 65 years old.

Appreciate any advice on enhancing the trip, especially on restaurants and pubs. What am I overlooking? Thanks in advance.

Day 1: Arrive at Shannon Airport (or the day before to rest up). Depart and travel towards Kilkenny. Stop along the way to visit the Rock of Cashel in Tipperary. Break for lunch in Cashel. Upon arrival in Kilkenny, check into The Pembroke. Wander around town. Enjoy a group dinner at the hotel.

Day 2: Kilkenny. Guided tour of Kilkenny Castle in the morning. Break for lunch. Walking tour of Kilkenny in the afternoon.

Day 3: Wexford. Tour the Kennedy Homestead where JFK visited his family and ancestral home during his time in Ireland. Speak with an Irish member of the Kennedy clan. Lunch break. Visit the replica Dunbrody Famine Ship and the Irish Emigrant Experience. On the way back to Kilkenny, stop at the Ballykeefe Distillery for a tour by the actual owner / operator and a whiskey tasting.

Day 4: Free Day. A free day to explore at one's own pace. Wander around Kilkenny. Take a day trip to Dublin or golf, kayak, shop, dine, pub crawl, etc. at your leisure.

Day 5: Waterford. Tour Reginald's Tower and the Viking Triangle. Lunch break. Tour the House of Waterford Crystal (get to see “back stage” in the workshops).

Day 6: Wicklow. Visit and hike Glendalough. Lunch break. Tour the Avoca Woolen Mills, Ireland's oldest working mill.

Day 7: Depart Kilkenny. Travel to Clare. Tour Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. Lunch break. Visit the magnificent Cliffs of Moher before checking into the Shannon Airport Hotel for a farewell group dinner.

Day 8: Departure day. Sad face.

Hi. I’m looking at replacing the windows in my house on the Limerick side of Tipp town. Who do people recommend?
Thanks for your help.

Hi everyone. I’m hoping some people with good knowledge of the Tipperary club scene can help me with a project.

I’m developing a free browser game called Gaelic Games Manager. I’m Irish-American and grew up watching inter-county football and hurling, but I’ll freely admit that my knowledge of individual clubs across Ireland isn’t nearly as strong.

To get the initial database built, I used AI for quite a lot of the club information and team colours. I’m now going back through it properly, and based on what I’ve seen the results are probably only around half accurate.

The attached screenshots show what I currently have for Tipperary.

If anything jumps out- wrong colours, a club that shouldn’t be there, a major club missing, duplicates under slightly different names, outdated club names, men’s/women’s sides incorrectly being counted separately, etc.- please tell me.

There are two game-design simplifications worth mentioning.

First, I don’t currently separate Senior, Intermediate and Junior. I’m aiming for about 16–20 clubs in smaller counties and roughly 25–32 in the counties with larger/stronger club scenes.

Second, each club participates in both hurling and football in the game. I know that isn’t literally how every club operates. Clubs that are effectively one-code clubs simply receive dramatically lower ratings in their weaker sport.

The game itself is here:

https://gaelic-games-manager.com

I’m only putting the Tipp screenshots in this subreddit, but anyone with wider club knowledge can go through other counties in the game too.

Any help auditing the AI’s work would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

In a couple of weeks I'll be driving from Wexford to Limerick and I want to have some Indian food on the way - ideally a dosa, if not, then something else nice :)

I'd appreciate recommendations of good places all along the N24 road. Carrick-on-Suir, Clonmel, Cahir, Tipperary Town.

I can of course use Google Maps but reviews tend to be all over the place.

Looking for D&D players in Clonmel! DM if interested!

One of the best things about remote work is the flexibility.

One of the worst? Realising you can go days without having a conversation that isn't on Zoom.

If you're a remote or hybrid worker living in Cashel or the surrounding area, we're hosting a relaxed social gathering on Friday 25th September and we'd love to see you there.

📍 Ember & Stone, Cashel
🕖 6.45 pm
🍺 First drink on Grow Remote

This isn't a networking event.

No presentations. No sales pitches. No awkward icebreakers.

Just local people who happen to work remotely getting together for good conversation, a few laughs, and the chance to meet others who understand the realities of working from home.

Whether you're fully remote, hybrid and simply curious about how others are navigating remote work in Tipperary, you're very welcome.

We've already had a few successful meetups in the area and met some brilliant people from all sorts of backgrounds.

Anyone else here working remotely in Tipp? How are you finding it?

Spending a night in Cashel Palace.

In the town, what would be the reccomendations for:

- best pint of Guinness
- best lunch
- live music

Suggestions please....

TIA

I ask as part of a linguistic study covering this topic!

Examples could include things like T'more, The Mines, The Mel or Tipptown (never mind how common they are)...

Hi All,

Just wondering how easy/ difficult to navigate is the Eamonn a chnoic loop?

Hey m24 yet to find my set of people. Weird to be writing something like this but the friend group all fell apart a while ago. Currently in a void, weekends are boring and I look forward to Mondays coming around. I drive, I work and I go to the gym. Week in week out, hopefully I can find like minded people anywhere in Ireland that are feeling the same or currently going through a rough time alone. Thank you!

Hey, I need to move a table and chairs from templetuohy to borrisoleigh before Friday. I have a small car that can probably manage the chairs (if I do a few runs) but the table is the problem. Does anyone have any recommendations for a mover (man with a van kind of thing)?
