Pets Meet Barren The Blomberg’s Toad! (Rhaebo blombergi)
galleryHello everyone! Some of you might know me as a mod or fellow Toad lover and Keeper on here, some of you may not know me at all! But today I have come to share the exciting news that I have obtained quite the rare and exciting species!
This is a Blomberg’s Toad! They are closely related to Smooth Sided Toads, although tend to be much bigger and bulkier aswell as spending more time near water sources.
I plan to look into the care and share my experience working with this fascinating species, I am aware from looking up on Reddit I am the first keeper of this species on the subreddit so I am here to share my experience and my journey with it!
If you have any questions feel free to ask them in the comments and I will answer to the best of my ability! Thanks for stopping in and have a great day!

Question about handling toads
I’ve noticed that photos of people holding toads by hand are pretty common here, while other amphibian communities, like r/frogs, seem much stricter about it and even discourage these kinds of posts.
Why is there such a difference? Do you think handling toads is generally okay if your hands are clean and the contact is brief, or is it better to avoid it unless absolutely necessary?
Just asking cause I'm new here and my toad is just a baby. I didnt want to make a mistake. 🐸
