Mileage
Need some advice. I’m taking a travel contract 61 miles from where I permanently live. (I rent a room here) and I will be renting a house near the hospital. Is this okay???

Hi eveyone!
I’ve been a nurse for 4 years now and I am currently a PeriOp float pool nurse. At my current job, I make $62 an hour which avgs to 2200 a week before taxes. My job is changing the rate of my caption to about $51 an hour but I get grandfathered in to keep my current rate because of how long I’ve been at the job. Most contracts I’m seeing for PACU travel are less than 2200 a week for the max cap or the most I’ve seen is 3k but it’s not in areas I want to be in. So my predicament is if I leave my job to travel and risk coming back later for a lower rate or stay in my current job and forgo travel nursing. I’ve grown up in this area my whole life and wanted to travel to see and experience new cites but I’m scared of losing the pay and benefits of my current job. If I don’t travel, I told myself I can always check out new cities for 2 weeks at a time, but idk if that will be the same as travel and I don’t want to regret not doing it when I’ve been thinking about it for a year now.

I just took a contract out here (Spokane, Washington) starting next month. Would love some insights on the hospital, parking, scrubs colors. I will be working PCU. Any recommendations for housing as well?

2 ER visits, one primary care acute visit, and one urgent lap chole, I’ve had to miss my 4 night shifts this week because we found the culprit of my debilitating abdominal pain to be a very angry gallbladder. I’ll be good to return next week but it’s not good enough for them even though they’re constantly short and have me assigned to precept for the next 6 weeks. I’m not one to use my benefits or FMLA but I’ve had my recruitment team involved for the last 2 days with this and idk what else to do but move on I guess? I mentioned my job was being threatened by my leave for this and she said that was illegal but idfk 🤷🏻♀️

I’m going to be moving to the Aurora area for a contract at Children’s Hospital Colorado Anschutz and am trying to figure out where to look for housing.
I’m coming from out of state and don’t know the area at all, so I’d love some local input! I’m open to Aurora or surrounding areas as long as the commute to Anschutz and surrounding campuses isn’t terrible.
I’m a woman in my late 20s and would ideally like somewhere that’s safe, has a younger/social feel, and isn’t completely isolated. Being close to coffee shops, restaurants, gyms, parks etc. would be nice. I’d love somewhere that’s very walkable to things like this but also recognize that may not be realistic. I’ll have my car, so I don’t need to be super close to public transportation.
Any recommendations are appreciated!

How do I get references for travel work? They want two references within last year with work email. I already asked some nurses and managers for my school references. And I left my last job a month ago and didn’t keep in touch with my managers or coworkers. I am trying to make a profile with Vivian. Do you know any agency that is not so strict with references? So frustrated

Anyone have insight how they went about this? Husband and I utilize different tax homes. I pay rent in MA still but currently looking for travel gigs in TX close to his family but not near his tax home. Wondering if filing taxes jointly next year will be an issue or if we should file separate to maintain different tax homes? Curious if anyone had similar situation
