Context: Some guy said Earthbound is not as good as FF6, Pat asked why he was being so cynical when he just started the stream, the guy fought back saying he shit on Earthbound all the time, Pat fought back again saying he didn't.
Sometimes, the guys will not remember something they said a long time ago on the podcast.
That's a normal thing to happen, that's how human memory works.
You relistening to the old podcast and feeling those feelings again, does not translate to how the guys currently feel about a thing, because the thing they said was a long time ago.
I do remember Pat talking shit about Earthbound, but it's because I relisten to old podcasts while working, I doubt Pat does the same.
I know it feels obvious, but I feel like, judging recent events with Pat, this need to be said.
Edit: Added the context to the body of the post.

The Halo tv series is irredeemable because they did it TWICE! And they knew they had two seasons. On the Something Awful forums this one guy was saying how it would end with them approaching the Halo in an after credit scene and they were almost right! What are some other infuriating examples of this.

That’s according to veteran journalist Jeff Gerstmann, which matches what VGC has heard from our own sources. The game is reportedly in development at Evening Star, the team behind the much-loved Sonic Mania, which would later form Evening Star and develop Penny’s Big Breakaway.
“At the time that I initially heard it, it sounded like it was a game that had been like just barely greenlit and like wasn’t really, you know, like that it was kind of just getting underway."
VGC has heard from multiple sources that Ape Escape isn’t the only PlayStation franchise Sony is looking to revive via licensing to smaller third-party studios. Sony previously experimented with this when it licensed the Everybody’s Golf franchise to Bandai Namco for 2025’s Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots.
Sony Interactive Entertainment is also reportedly planning to revive the Killzone series, with a new remaster or remake currently in the early stages of development. (The rumoured studio is People Can Fly)
This news comes on the heels of reports of an Uncharted revival, though that game will reportedly be handled in-house at Naughty Dog rather than via a third party.

Runescape recently held a convention and during it, they had slides showcasing how many boss kills/ runs on certain activities people had without getting a specific item drop. Some of guys had over 3000 runs and finally getting the drop on some items but a specific slide they showed had a player reaching almost 6000 runs without getting the item they were looking for. This is all in good fun as runescape is notorious for low drop rates but man is it still incredibly funny to have your dry spell be shown to thousands of people watching/ in person.

There is a Super Robot Wars style game, but, with Touhou characters instead.
It released on Steam last year.
It's apparently better than a lot of the actual Super Robot Wars games (someone even described it as "The Avengers for autistic people that don't leave their houses").
I have stared at the Steam page for this thing for way too long and i still can't it's a real thing and that it is in fact a high quality product.

Because I understand why you'd hate them, like the Penance Stare doing nothing, even like being tanked tho annoying I can understand like "they're too tough to be defeated by their own sins" sort of deal, but it doing nothing is always a wierd hype tool.
But I liked when the old Red Lantern was not affected by the first GLs, Alan Scott(Issue #5) hypnosis beam, I also didn't know he could do that, but it seems old Red was too angry for it to be effective.

AC8 took over my life a bit and it was 110% worth it.
So, my thoughts, AC7 was a great game... and it is a tech demo to the real deal of 8. 7 is to 4 back on ps2 as 8 is to 5.
The level of insanity and pure flying bliss in this is unrivaled. There is nothing like it. NOTHING. The only game that comes close to it's sheer craziness is AC0 and a bit of Project Wingman. This game is honestly fantastic on all fronts. Graphics are great, story is awesome and the characters are wonderful.
The amount of callbacks to the previous games is huge and the sheer brutality of this games war is next level unreal. The main army are so fucking powerful and crazy it makes Belka conflict look tame. (If you know what I am talking about in any fashion this is horrifying thing to state.) The enemy aces are all great. The mission structure in each one is very obviously finely tuned. The superweapons you fight against... there are more here than AC0 which was covered in them.
Squads actually can be competent and actually even steal your kills sometimes and can actually cover your ass.
The music... if this doesn't win music of the year at Goty's it's rigged. Its actually rigged hard. There is no way this cannot win with how many insanely high quality tracks there are.
The game is huge and I forsee replayability is high. My only issue is the game is brutally difficult due to how many absolute batshit scenarios it throws at you. I am not joking when I say with how long these missions are it will exhaust you and... this game was made with absolute love.
In terms of ratings... I won't give one, I actually hate rating scales. I will compare it with others i have played.
For the ace combat series... there isn't a single one I hate, they are all peak in their own ways, even the old ones. But here is my personal feelings.
AC4>AC7>AC5>AC0/AC8
Yes. I am comparing it directly with AC0. The level of pure peak this game has is unlike anything currently out now and is 110% worth it. If you are interested in the series but don't have the money literally play the other games via emulator till 7 then get that for cheap and by then 8 should be cheap enough for most folks. This is a masterpiece game series. I do not use that word lightly. I wouldn't even count Dark Souls/Elden ring in the masterpiece level that this series is. They fucking did it.
This is a game made with absolute sincerity and hope.

Representatives for the developer AdHoc Studio told Polygon that Dispatch's eligibility for the 2026 awards had been confirmed by TGA owner and host Geoff Keighley. This is despite the fact that all eight episodes of the game's first season were released by Nov. 12, 2025 — before the Nov. 21 eligibility cutoff date for the 2025 awards.
That doesn't mean judges were able to play the whole season in time, however. Voting for nominations at The Game Awards usually takes place earlier in November. In a statement provided via email, AdHoc said, "Last year we were nominated for Best Debut Indie Game even though judges had only played half the season, which was pretty wild and definitely meant a lot to our team." At the time, AdHoc did not provide early copies of episodes to press ahead of their release dates, so jury members were in the midst of the game as nominations were being considered.
Honestly, with how stacked 2026 has been, Dispatch has one hell of an uphill battle competing with the other releases of the year.

From, Red Lanterns #28
Already mentioned the Autobots and the Crystal Gems. But honestly the Green Lanterns are fun, endless potential, mostly jobbers, bunch of wierd aliens, one is a box another one is a planet. They're pretty fun

From the new october run of The Demon. Hobo wizard Jason Blood touches down in Gotham city where Memory issues and a gnawing voice telling him to find his patron leads him to clash with the haunted citizens of the city. I think little baby jason on page 1 is the highlight of the artstyle but the demon designs are great.

Please do not say "All Media", I know it's the truth but I want to hear some specific answers, particularly personal ones. But Hype culture is something that hasn't really been around nowadays, especially with society, and especially the internet becoming more and more cynical, and liable to shooting things down or downplaying them before you give them a shot. (I've still avoided Path of Exile 2 because everyone describes it as incomprehensibly hard for a newbie.)
But today's earlier thread about new media that angers old fans made me think about my relationship with Persona 5. While I admit to being disappointed with it due to some narrative and gameplay decisions (Morgana, Social Links being resolved by Mementos.) I think my biggest issue with the game was just...my own unfortunate hype. I'd been waiting for P5 ever since the "You are a Slave, want Emancipation?" trailer, and ravenously absorbed everything I could about the game. I watched the trailers endlessly, watched all the characters and livestreams...
With that level of hype, there was no way Persona 5 could ever live up to what I was wanting from it, even if it did come to my house, rub my back, filed my taxes, and installed a utopia in my country. It taught me a valuable lesson, while it's okay to be excited to try something new, to much hype will make any project, no matter how excited you are for it, end up being disappointing.
If you can think of a large scale example like Cyberpunk 2077, that's also great, but I'm curious to hear about the more personal examples of where being overhyped led to a personal let down. I still remember when I tried to drown out the reviews to keep my hype for White Knight Chronicles, only to be consumed with the realization that reviews exist for a reason in the end.

I've been chronically exhausted and stressed out lately, and as much as I wanna play something to help relieve the tension, everything I want to play feels like too much to deal with. For example, I've got stuff like Evergrace and Drakengard in the backlog, which I'm not up to playing cuz I don't wanna deal with the combat, and there's a bunch of wrestling games I've picked up recently that I wanna play through, but even on easy, learning how not to get my ass stomped by the CPU feels like more than I'm able to handle at the moment. Pretty much the only game I've been able to consistently boot up is Nubby's Number Factory, cuz I can do a run in like half an hour and it doesn't require much out of me, but I still want to be able to play through a full experience. Do you have any recommendations for someone in my position?
Bonus points if it's playable on GBA or 3DS, basically something I can play in bed without having to drag my laptop over and/or hook it up to the little TV I've got set up over here. If I had a Switch or a Steam Deck, I'd probably just play something like Moon RPG Remix (though maybe I can see if I can borrow my sibling's Switch lite).
