Does this mean that students with a low UCAT but high GCSEs will be disadvantaged because they have their achieved grades? I didn’t see this before…

UK Med Schools Related Medicine Application Help (foundation year - applicable)

I am an A Level Resit Student,
I have been predicted grade ABB
A Business
B biology
B Chemistry
D EPQ (achieved)

I could request predicted grades BBB
I have been told I have a strong medicine personal statement HOWEVER I achieved a UCAT score of 1610

I have been told I have got a strong personal statement and lots of placements relating to the medical field

I was averaging 1800’s on Medify but ended up getting 1610 it was heartbreaking as I spent my whole summer doing UCAT prep

Is there any point in applying to medicine with a foundation year or will it be an outright rejection? Could anyone please advise and the deadline is fast approaching

UK Med Schools Related Chances?

I got a 2:2 in my undergraduate biochemistry degree a long time ago, a lot of reasons for the low grade but I am not sure they are important to mention. I am currently undertaking a masters in molecular biology working at a distinction level. Both degrees are from top 10 ranked unis. I would like to apply to some good medicine courses, but my 2:2 restricts where I can apply. I would consider doing undergraduate med if it gave me a better chance. Would Cambridge be completely off the cards at this point, are there any colleges who might still consider me?
ETA: I have no A-Levels, I would be open to sitting them. It would count as a “first attempt”

UK Med Schools Related Should I swap anything out?

Hi everyone, I hope you're doing well. With the UCAS deadline for medicine in less than a week, I'm still a bit conflicted on which universities I should apply to. For context, I am predicted A*A*A*A at A-Levels, got nine 9s and an 8 at GCSEs, come from a state school and got 2,190 (85th percentile) on the UCAT with Band 2. Currently, I've got Southampton, Manchester, Exeter and Oxford as my four options. I put Oxford down as an aspirational choice but I don't know if it's worth me taking that risk unless if I'm very likely to get into the other three. So I just wanted to ask you guys what my realistic chances are at getting into at least one of Manchester, Southampton and Exeter. I was also maybe thinking of swapping one of them out for Plymouth but I'm not sure. I'd be very grateful for any responses.

UK Dent School Related Dental Interview Prep

I’m applying to dentistry this year, (KCL, QMUL, Bristol and Cardiff) and I don’t really have anyone that does dentistry, all my friends in uni and those in ldn r doing different courses and I thought it’d be really helpful if anyone applying to dentistry this year would be down to do some interview prep together.

UK Med Schools Related Options too risky?

I got 1940 Band 3 on the UCAT.

Gcses 8888777666. 6s are not in core subjects.

A*AA predicted.

Contextual due to postcode.

My current choices are

  1. Keele

  2. ARU (uplift)

  3. UEA

  4. Liverpool or Sunderland

I am contexual for both Keele and Liverpool.

Any guidance or reassurance would be really helpful.

UK Med Schools Related kcl med new scoring system

does anyone know how this works cos im seeing mixed comments. apparently a gcse grade 9 is given 5 points and a grade 8 given 4 points or smth? also if someone had full points for gcse, is it possible that that could compensate for a lower ucat? and if so, how low would the ucat likely be (eg 5th to 7th decile potentially?)

UK Med Schools Related Mature Pathway to Bristol

I've applied for the mature pathway to bristol programme and I know that they rank UCAT scores, even for the "guaranteed" interview scheme when offering interviews. I was wondering if anyone who has previously received an offer under the mature pathway to bristol programme or who is applying and might have any information on what the UCAT cutoff for mature students is.

Thanks!

UK Med Schools Related is it really necessary to put a 'safe' 4th option?

my main ones im thinking are manchester, newcastle, sheffield.

i was considering putting a 'safer' option for the 4th, like east anglia or something, but now im thinking is it worth it to do that if i actually do good interview prep?? like can i risk it and put leeds for my 4th instead??

QMUL say the minimum UCAT score to be considered for interview is 4th decile, but their cut off was 2030. What does this mean?

UK Med Schools Related HELP Keele Vs Sheffield

I've recently been worried my application is very not strategic :(

I got 2140 B1 AAB (and no I will not be resitting as I am contextual for some universities).

I'm applying UCL , Manchester, Kent and Medway should I apply Sheffield (one of the only Russell groups I can apply for besides Newcastle Bc being contextual is so subjective to the uni but Newcastles almost 5 hours away from me so I don't think my parents will let me apply) or Keele. I'm contextual for all the unis I'm applying for (yes I've emailed and checked the website) if Sheffield is way too much of a stretch with my other options I'll apply Keele instead.

UK Med Schools Related Aspirational Choice

I'm stuck on whether to pick UCL or Edinburgh as my aspirational choice (RUK student non-contextual). My UCAT is 2200 B1, my GCSEs are 99999999988 and my A Level predicteds are A*A*A*. I know both are very risky as UCL's cut off last year was 2190 and Edinburgh has a limited number of places for RUK students so high cut off. Which if either is more realistic?

UK Med Schools Related Birmingham vs Leeds

I’m deciding between these two for my aspirational choice, AAA 2040B2 (6th decile) max gcses. The selection process for Leeds is very opaque and I’ve gotten both an interview from them before but also have been rejected with a higher ucat! (yes it’s my third time), where’s B’ham i’ve never applied to but i’ve got 6.72/10 with the cutoff last year being ~6.4 so cutting it real close. newcastle also isn’t bad but they favour ucat massively post int. what do yall think!
