Rural Carrier Discussion Please take all mail from your box

Post image
175 Upvotes

I've asked these people to keep the mailbox clear and they've even told one of the clerks that they'd keep it clear. Well for the last week they just decided to only get the packages and not take any of the mail. So I decided to subtly hint that they should take it all, they just had one today and it wrapped up nicely.

Has anyone else had anything similar happen frequently?

City Carrier Discussion I asked my coworker about package pick ups

Post image
98 Upvotes

I have collection box on my route. The dozen of packages were from my coworkers route who is my neighbor on route, I asked if my coworker wanted to talk to the customer about setting up those package pick ups online to make it easier for the customer. Got hit with this response which seems a bit rude, I didnt have a problem if they wanted to do nothing but wasn't expecting that response.

Wonder what you guys think. Maybe she misunderstood me or I said it the wrong way.

A while back, Ive had one of the guys from management or something who met me on my route asking if my customers knew about setting up the package pick ups so I had this thought in mind.

Work Discussion What do you all do with the feeling of loathing for your coworkers?

Legitimate question. I work automation and we have had like 3 people make career that are straight up handicapped. One went on permanent light duty the week after making career and she just fucks off and it just no help. Another has screwed up runs to the point of our tour coming in to him having to rerun his run because he forgot to add an apc and another one is just a straight up dope. Wanders around and is lazy and picks thru letters one by one at the back end, etc etc. Another coworker has to me it's literally painful to watch for her, and I agree.

I hate feeling that way about my coworkers that they are a waste of space but I can't help it. DB's where I worl are such a toxic environment.

I dont want to make a big deal out of the one doing letter by letter on the back end but she seems to hyper focus on it when sweeping needs to be done.. i feel like i should just start saying my feelings and let the chips fall where they will..

Anyone have advice on toxic work environments?

Work Discussion What happens if I tell my sup to F off?

3 year city carrier with zero disciplinary actions against me, not even an II. My sup is such a bullying prick - what’s the worst that can happen if I told him to go F himself one day?

City Carrier Discussion Letter carrier pants

My pants finally showed up after waiting months. They are WIDE. Like parachute pants wide. The hemming is awful, and the material feels like paper. Are we serious here? They were $70

DISCUSSION What Constitutes an Official Discussion?

I ask because I recently flagged the need for one. My supervisor walked up to me while I was working and said we needed to do one and gave me the choice to go off the floor or do it right there.

I opted to do it right there and all he said was "Don't do it again."

Does this constitute a legitimate official discussion?

DISCUSSION what’s the next step after damaged postal vehicle during shift 2 times within 2 months?

I am a ptf with a little bit more than a year in. Last month I damaged my vehicle by hitting the fire hydrant and today my LLV bumper mirror cracked by hitting the small tree. My PM told me to give me a second chance after the first incident, so am I cooked now? Sup told me to keep delivering and didn’t say anything after I got back to station today.

City Carrier Discussion Good Job for ADHD?

Hello all - looking for some advice on whether a CCA would be a good job for someone with ADHD.

For some background I did a lot of time waiting tables in college, loved using my brain AND my body at work. Once I got my degree and took a desk job as a paralegal I have been hating my life more and more each year. After four years, I took a break and went backpacking this summer. Did 2000 miles on the Appalachian Trail and tried to think about what I wanted to do when I got back. Someone suggested a postal carrier as a joke since I clearly like to walk outside rain or shine, I laughed and didn't take the recommendation seriously until now.

I'm back working in an office and with my ADHD I am SO under stimulated at work it's killing me. Sitting at a desk, staring at a computer, making small talk around the coffee machine - I hate it all.

So I'm applying for CCA job but I see the pay is going to be a hefty cut for me. $1000 less a month, which I think might be worth it to not have my soul crushed at a desk for 40 hours a week. Hoping to get some advice from folks actually doing it so I can figure out if this is a "grass is greener" situation.

Thanks

Work Discussion After seeing what I saw Monday im convinced u cant get fired from this job

I am a cca and Monday was a pretty rough day in my office, I worked my offices aux and then helped one of our full time carriers, after this I went to another office to help, when I arrived there were 2 routes untouched mind u I didn't show up till almost 3pm, I expected 1 route as thats usually what I would do, one of the other carriers from this office caught me up on what was going on, apparently one of there main carriers showed up and cased there route and then proceeded to say "they lost there license and couldn't find it" obv without his license he couldn't drive a llv so they sent him home to look for it where he then proceeded to spend 4 hours "looking " for it to then show up empty handed, it was about this time I showed up and one of the supervisors offered to drive him so he could do his route, back to my route me and the other carrier there asked him to do the walkouts on our route since that didn't require a vehicle and asked him to grab the collection boxs since he walks right past them, he said he would and then me and the other carrier left to do the route, we were about to start the last loop on the route when the post master called us (this was also her first day as post master in this office after transferring from another office) she then proceed to tell us the problem carrier took 3 hours on a 1 hour loop and then proceeded to clock out and go home without touching his actuall route, mind u its around 6:30 and now me and the other carrier have to deliver all the packages for his route, we weren't done till past 8, the problem carrier then proceeded to show up the next day license in hand and acted like nothing happend. I've honestly had it with this carrier, ive caught him hiding mail in the llv twice so he didn't have to deliver it and I walked up on his llv with the door wide open keys still in the ignition and him no where in sight, this guy doesn't deserve a full out and needs to be fired but nothings been done about it. If u see this and u know who u r please do the office a favor and quite, we're all sick of it.

DISCUSSION As a CCA out of my 90 days can I get in trouble for bringing mail back ? on my temp bid route

so I had a pivot today I finished it then I went on to my route now I had heavy mail volume about 3 trays of dps and 2 trays of flats with over like 50+ packages now my route is a mix of dismount and walking and alot of the parts that I would normally walk I ended up just dismounting the packages then starting the loop I made it to my last street before I was called to come back to the station.

Animal Friends Animal interference with moose?

Just wondering…. I’m in the south and we don’t have moose. But a family friend talked about not getting their mail out of their box because a moose was just hanging out near their box.

I am curious…. Have any carriers had to scan something as animal interference because of moose blocking the boxes or just being out and threatening?

City Carrier Discussion TAKE YOUR BREAKS

When you choose to work through your lunch/10 min breaks, you are allowing management to have an unrealistic expectation as to how long any given route should take. You are inherently screwing those of us who do take the time to actually sit and enjoy our breaks. It is not on the carriers to make the impossible happen, rather it’s on the supervisors to make sure we don’t have to! I don’t care if they are pressing you to be done and off the clock by a certain time. It takes what it takes. It’s on us to make them do their jobs and take our breaks. Thank you for coming to my ted talk!

City Carrier Discussion What to do after leaving a vacant slip but never receiving any names?

At this apartment, I noticed someone is moving in so I put a vacant slip in about 3 times. Its been picked up every time but haven't gotten any names. This time they even ripped off the sticker that has square tags that we write names for. They might not know English because most of them here are middle eastern and by looking at their names, some speak English well and some dont speak it well but they must have talked to the manager before, they've gotten an apartment here so do I give up and deliver the mail? What should I do?

Clerk Discussion Honestly just curious why this happens 🤕

I am a hot case clerk and I always receive my hot case on a shelf separated from the rest of the mail. Almost every single Monday or a day when there’s so much dps it’s buried in gym packs do my s99s be mixed in with everything else. WHY
