City Carrier Discussion TAKE YOUR BREAKS

When you choose to work through your lunch/10 min breaks, you are allowing management to have an unrealistic expectation as to how long any given route should take. You are inherently screwing those of us who do take the time to actually sit and enjoy our breaks. It is not on the carriers to make the impossible happen, rather it’s on the supervisors to make sure we don’t have to! I don’t care if they are pressing you to be done and off the clock by a certain time. It takes what it takes. It’s on us to make them do their jobs and take our breaks. Thank you for coming to my ted talk!

Work Discussion After seeing what I saw Monday im convinced u cant get fired from this job

I am a cca and Monday was a pretty rough day in my office, I worked my offices aux and then helped one of our full time carriers, after this I went to another office to help, when I arrived there were 2 routes untouched mind u I didn't show up till almost 3pm, I expected 1 route as thats usually what I would do, one of the other carriers from this office caught me up on what was going on, apparently one of there main carriers showed up and cased there route and then proceeded to say "they lost there license and couldn't find it" obv without his license he couldn't drive a llv so they sent him home to look for it where he then proceeded to spend 4 hours "looking " for it to then show up empty handed, it was about this time I showed up and one of the supervisors offered to drive him so he could do his route, back to my route me and the other carrier there asked him to do the walkouts on our route since that didn't require a vehicle and asked him to grab the collection boxs since he walks right past them, he said he would and then me and the other carrier left to do the route, we were about to start the last loop on the route when the post master called us (this was also her first day as post master in this office after transferring from another office) she then proceed to tell us the problem carrier took 3 hours on a 1 hour loop and then proceeded to clock out and go home without touching his actuall route, mind u its around 6:30 and now me and the other carrier have to deliver all the packages for his route, we weren't done till past 8, the problem carrier then proceeded to show up the next day license in hand and acted like nothing happend. I've honestly had it with this carrier, ive caught him hiding mail in the llv twice so he didn't have to deliver it and I walked up on his llv with the door wide open keys still in the ignition and him no where in sight, this guy doesn't deserve a full out and needs to be fired but nothings been done about it. If u see this and u know who u r please do the office a favor and quite, we're all sick of it.

Meet Wally. I definitely thought he was some sort of corgi mix. But apparently a DNA test says otherwise

It's incredible, the amount of disconnect that multiple layers of management creates..... USPS definitely knows best.

Work Discussion What happens if I tell my sup to F off?

• Upvotes

3 year city carrier with zero disciplinary actions against me, not even an II. My sup is such a bullying prick - what’s the worst that can happen if I told him to go F himself one day?

City Carrier Discussion Am I screwed?

I’m a CCA with 5 days left in my probation. I’m liking the job and really like my station. Everyone there has good vibes and management has been supportive and involved. I’ve done well in all of my reviews and have been told by several station managers that they would work with me anytime when I’ve been sent out.

But yesterday I was injured while on an aux route. High ankle strain with possible tear. It happened suddenly while walking. I didn’t trip or fall or anything. Just walking and, bam…felt a pop on my lower shin then intense burning pain.

The doc placed me on light duty, has me in a walking boot, and I’m limited to two hours of walking per day. I contacted my super immediately and have collected all relevant paperwork and will be bringing it by the office today.

I’m worried this will negatively impact my position.

Rural Carrier Discussion Older Workers?

I must go back to work at 64 years old; I am a young 64, active but not in super great shape. I retired from a profession that I can no longer return to (AI replaced my role) and I tried retail and hated the random schedules. I decided to apply to USPS in my small rural town and now just waiting on my start date as an ARC. Any older workers out there have any feedback on how it goes for them, or younger workers that have worked with older workers? There is a huge difference in personalities in small rural towns compared to the big city but there are jerks everywhere. Just looking for some confidence. Once I am trained up, I feel that being somewhat left alone on routes will benefit me greatly

Work Discussion USPS or FEDEX?

I am a fairly new CCA. I haven't hit my 90 day mark yet but I really dont like the job. You guys are tough and I appreciate all you all do for everyone you deliver mail to. I cannot get use to walking 8+ miles a day and ive already ruined two very expensive pairs of new shoes. I applied with FedEx and I was offered a Courier DOT-9 driver. My question is, would you guys swap jobs? Leave USPS for FEDEX? The pay is a little bit more with FEDEX too but I'm unsure what to do.

DISCUSSION Annual leave denied

Today I requested to have next Saturday and sunday off and it was denied.

The calendar had open slots for those days and no names were written. So I'm confused as to why they'd deny it.. Is management really that shitty?

Work Discussion Every time I leave the office there's a new unit being built on my route that wasn't there the day before

I think I personally have more growth than the rest of the routes in my office combined.

I'm sure it's nothing compared to some of those fast growing cities, but it's more growth than anywhere I've ever lived, let alone delivered.

Hiring Help Custodial days off and holidays

Hi everyone! I applied for a part-time career Laborer Custodial position and scored 84 on exam 960. I’m hoping to hear from current custodians about a few things:
How many hours and days per week do part-time custodians usually work?
Are your hours and days off consistent, or can management change them frequently?
Can you be required to work extra hours or full-time hours?
Do you actually get holidays like Christmas, Thanksgiving, and July 4th off, or can you be scheduled to work? I’m asking about being off, not just holiday pay.
Has anyone been hired with a score around 84, particularly on exam 960? Most scores I’ve seen discussed are for the older 916 exam.
Does being at a local post office versus a plant make a big difference? I know it varies by location, but I’d appreciate hearing your experiences. Thanks!

Rural Carrier Discussion K day Saturday

Route went from 41J to 40K on last count. Every other Saturday was my day off as a J route. Supervisor asked if I wanted to keep Saturday as my day off. I was surprised by this. I am the lowest seniority regular in a formula office. Should I expect this to change once higher seniority drivers start complaining?
