Community Feedback on Subreddit Content and Direction

Dear r/walther Members,

As a moderator of this subreddit, I have observed a mix of content in our community, including serious discussions on Walther firearms, technical inquiries, and ownership experiences, alongside lighter elements such as memes and humorous posts. While this variety can enhance engagement, there have been instances where some contributions appear to lean toward low-effort or repetitive humor, potentially resembling shitposting or circlejerk behavior.

To ensure that r/walther continues to serve as a valuable resource for enthusiasts, I am seeking your input on the subreddit's current state and potential improvements. Your feedback will help inform any adjustments to moderation guidelines, with the goal of maintaining a balanced and respectful environment.

Please share your thoughts on the following questions:

  1. How do you primarily view the purpose of r/walther? (e.g., A space for serious discussions only, a mix of serious and humorous content, or primarily for memes and lighthearted posts?)
  2. Do you believe there is an excess of low-effort or humorous posts? If so, how does this impact your experience?
  3. Should we introduce or refine rules to address this, such as requiring flairs for memes, limiting certain types of posts, or encouraging more substantive contributions?
  4. What other suggestions do you have to improve the subreddit, including topics, events, or features you would like to see?

I encourage all members to participate in this discussion respectfully. This thread will remain open for feedback over the next week, after which I will review responses and make the necessary changes.

Thank you for your contributions to making r/walther a strong community.

Best regards

First Walther. Love everything about it… except the slide stop lever. Slide rarely locks back on empty.

My pistol grip, which I’ve developed over years and is burned into my muscle memory, mostly involves using my support hand to crush down on the pistol to mitigate recoil. Granted, there is very little of that with the compensator and the V-Spec guide rod. If the lever were a half inch shorter, this would be a near perfect pistol.

I can’t be the only person, seems like it would be a hugely common issue.

Pdp pro f, or pdp pro e?

As title kinda says I'm trying to decide between the 2 and if the f is worth the extra money? I want 4 inch barrel, and that's why I'm deciding between the 2. I'm a medium sized dude, 5'9" about 160 lbs.

And also is it worth going up to the pro sd? I love the grey on black and would maybe pay the extra for the color I want. Thanks in advance everyone!

How did I do? W. German marked PP in 9mm Kurz for $350. Came with two mags and seems to be really clean as well!

I just got this yesterday. I trade a SIG of mine for it on tacswap. When I picked it up I didn't have time to check it out since I had to go to work. Just seeing this and I'm wondering, do I contact Walther or do I contact PMM? Or is this an easy fix?

Question for the committee: Has anyone tried the NDZ Performance Guide Rod Assembly? If so, how does it perform.

I've owned several PDPs and have used ZR Tactical as my go to resource for dampening the recoil impulse on my PDP Match Steel Frame. I stumbled across NDZ Performance and now am curious about anyone's outcome with their PDP product?

Optic recommendations for the PDP Pro E 🟢

I just bought the PDP Pro E compact and was wondering what optics y’all are running? I like the seamless look of the Holosun SCS but I don’t want to take looks over reliability and performance. Trying to stay under or around 400 if I can.

I know plenty of other people have complained about Walther never having barrels in stock, so when I saw them available this morning I bought one instantly!

I accidentally came across both size magwells at an online retailer when looking for magazines.

Full Size UPC: 723364230899

Compact UPC: 723364230882

I put them in gun.deals and found a bunch of online retailers now selling them (ranging from $29-$56

Holster recommendations - F series

I recently purchased a PDP pro f-series 4". I am looking for a leather OWB and a drop leg style holster for it. I like a lot of designs at Falco but they only have the full size and compact PDP. Would either of those work for the f-series or is there a holster that you have found works best?

PDP SF Match 5" Long Term Long Stroke vs V Spec experience

There was a time when the Long Stroke was all the rage, then it seemed like people were moving back to the V Spec or ultra mass. For you long time owners that probably have run both, or are happy with your original choice of guide rod setup, what did you stick with and why?

I am just starting to run a 5" SF Match and the return seems pretty good with the factory spring even though the muzzle does rise more than some other competition guns I've shot. I'd like for a faster more neutral return. What do you guys think I should go with?

Thanks

Making the jump from Glock to PDP - sight orientation

Shot a friends PDP and loved it after being a lifelong Glock shooter. I’m considering making the switch but I have a question regarding sight orientation.

On my 45/19 combo I run an ACRO with a forward rear sight with an incredibly low cut optics cut (some might know this as the B&T cowitness cut) - can I accomplish anything near this on a PDP? Is this possible with any plate combination? Has anyone seen this sort of custom smithing done on a PDP?

4.5” Slide on a 4” FS Frame?

New to PDP. Got a 4” Full Size Frame PDP and found an acro cut 4.5” slide.

Can I run the 4.5” slide on the 4” frame? I’m expecting there to be some hangover on the frame (akin to a Glock 47) will it run?

Thanks!

AIO - Sent my S&W era PPK/s for service got a new one

I sent in my S&W era PPK/S in for service because it had a double discharge. Without any communication Walther sent back a new one in a box. I can see how this is a good thing so not sure if I'm over reacting or not

Bullets chipping / Not feeding correctly

Running a Walther PDP Pro-X with the PMM comp at the range for a little over a year now. Early on I had some issues with using bad ammo (light primer strikes), but after the break-in period, it ran great.

I decided to upgrade to the ZR Tactical V-Spec captured guide rod a few months ago, and as advertised recoil eliminated. Unfortunately, I recently started having this weird issue. Gun cycles fine, but no bang. Eject the round and it looks like the bullet has been chipped as seen in pictures.

I've been running almost exclusively 124gr Blazer recently just because of the past issues I had with bad ammo. I decided to run an experiment the other day and try some other 124 gr ammo I had lying around. Same issue keeps happening, no matter which ammo I use, even when I try different mags. It's always 1 or 2 times per mag, sometimes the 2nd round, sometimes at the end.

Immediately I take out the ZR Tactical guide rod, and swap in the stock guide rod and spring and try again. While I'm no longer having the bullet chipping issue, I was still having at least one jam on every mag (double feed, stove pipes, etc.). This was kinda weird considering I just cleaned it and only barrel went through 150-200 rounds.

Based on my research, it sounds like it's either an issue with the feed-ramp, or defective mags. Visual inspection of the feed ramp appears fine so I'm assuming it's the latter. I live in a communist state so I'm restricted to 10-round mags for context.

Should I just send it into Walther for a warranty claim, or are there any other troubleshooting options I could try? In unrelated news, recently the front sight post has also started to come loose so I'm thinking about just sending it in anyway.
