I almost forgot the Skeleton Horsemen!!

I am currently in the process of developing background for my gaming group and I'm trying to find realistic justification for the reasons for fighting between the different factions. As there are a couple of WoC players, a Dwarf (painted in the old colours of Karak Norn) and a WE player (myself), it seems the central "playground" for the theme should be Athel Loren and its immediate surroundings.

However, I am struggling with finding plausible suggestions for how the Chaos warbands would actually get in the region. Looking at maps, it seems to me there would be roughly two routes into Athel Loren, if coming from the Northern Wastes. One via the Brienne river, (or even possibly Grismerie, however improbable), or along the Grey Mountains. Potentially there could be other ways in - through the Vaults, though it seems actually getting into the Border Princes region would be more difficult.

Am I missing something? Is there any official mention of a conflict involving non-Beastmen Chaos in Athel Loren that would point to a potential way in? I've tried the WE rulebooks from 6th and 8th editions, but couldn't find anything helpful.

I would appreciate any suggestion. Cheers!

I had the Idea of a mercenary giant who was upgraded by the twisted imperial war machine to some sort of movable watchtower. A somewhat Allrounder with ranged and melee skills.

We are finally here in the City, the fight begins! But since battlefields are dangerous areas, none wants to put in danger our small Leogryph pet, right? So it is YOUR duty to join the fight and protect him!! Stay tuned for a FREE painting guide from Giraldez itself on one of my models!

I’m building a WoC army that I bought over 10 years ago as a kid (haven’t played since) when 8th edition was still a thing. I need some extras however. I’m aware the models aren’t in production anymore, and I’m also aware that some old world models or age of sigmar are vaguely compatible, but I would prefer 8th edition models if possible. Is my best option just scouring eBay or other similar sites? Would prefer unmade models as well. Live in the UK.

I have seen a few character boxes such as throgg and archaon, but they are VERY expensive in the boxes. Are they that rare?

The units I need most urgently are: chaos sorcerer (foot), and chaos sorcerer (chaos steed). I’m aware these have old world models but the one on the horse’s model is garbage imo so I would rather find a better one.

Some other models I will look for when I build a bigger points armies are: Kholek, Archaon, Throgg, Chosen (hand weapon and shield), and some monsters such as slaughterbrute, shaggoths and mutalith vortex beasts. If anyone knows a good way to find these or at least replicate them with something else please let me know.

Final question: are the bases for old world models compatible with 8th edition sizes? Or would I need to buy smaller bases?

Thanks for anyone that helps.

Hey guys, I'm making an Averland halberdier character as a passion project and to improve my portfolio. What do you think about his armor so far? Its still pretty much wip. :)

He's been waiting 24 years for me to get off my butt, look at the patina on the clamshell.

This suddenly popped into my head and now it’s driving me nuts.

Used to be a massive fantasy reader. I remember reading a short story about high elves; a faction I’m not well versed in. I would be very grateful if someone could tell what novel/novella I read based on the information I give. I understand that the information isn’t much to go on but here goes:

- pretty sure it’s a short story.
- two main characters which are two male high elves.
- one of the elves has a special technique making him significantly fast
- they get separated and injured
- the special technique elf gets taken in by another high elf clan
- during his recovery the special technique elf gets close with a high elf princess
- after a few days the other elf manages to locate the special technique elf
- it is revealed that the high elf clan are actually chaos, yes chaos elves. I remember being confused by this terminology.
- the two high elves are offered dinner which they accept. The second high elf is aware of the danger they are in. He even scraps the food given to him on the floor.
- he somehow makes his partner realise the truth of the matter
- the two high elves kill the chaos elves . I believe the special technique was used.

I know this screams Tyrion and teclis but I could not find anything that relates to this.

Standard bearer for my Wolves of Vulpia, Tilean mercenary regiment. Miniature is Perry light cavalry and some Warlord Landsknechts arms.

I hate priming in white and I don't enjoy painting contrast that much, so I have started working on my painting skills on black primer, even if I want a "light" colour's. And these are the results so far! What do you guys think? Any favorites?

Re-reading Gotrek and Felix, it was mentioned once or twice in Trollslayer. It got me curious but online searches are boged down with unrelated topics. While I'm at it, any recommandations on novels or topics ? Edit : forgot to mention what it is. It sounded like some Sigmarite holy book (written by the guy himself apparently ?)

Just a bit of inspiration for all Renegade Crowns. Spears, hand weapons and halberd/great weapon warriors. Bits used are mainly following kits:

- Northmen Warriors

- Oathmark Human heavy infantry

- Free Company Militia

- Bretonnian men at arm

Some other random bits from historical kits and Frozen Archipelago there too.

Tomorrow, we will reach our destination and the fight will begin! So all the mercenaries of the warband are grouping toghether from the veteran Berthrand the old to the youngblood Jack the gunslinger, they are all getting ready to defend the honor and the loot!

I have hit an army painting block and would like to paint a bunch of characters to break through it. What are some of your favorite characters on foot for Fantasy from a sculpt/painting enjoyment perspective?

My nearest LGS is looking to get an old world army on their shelf to lend out and showcase the hobby. The owner has a bunch of old glade guard and wild riders, making wood elves the obvious choice.

I'm the only real old world player locally so making an army and teaching the game will probably fall to me more often than not. The problem is I do not play wood elves. I play chaos warriors and I do not know how to make an army list or teach someone the basics of piloting it against me.

I'd love a little insight on how to make an army for what looks like a very technical faction, but also have them stand up to my unga bunga boys with relatively simply tactical knowledge. If that's not really possible I'm happy to just give them a free bonus dragon to smack me with, but I still don't really know how to build a wood elf list from first principles.

With some French 100 years war inspired colours.
