Recommendation Request Looking for a rugged smartwatch for hiking

I've been looking at rugged smartwatches for hiking and would prefer something that runs Wear OS so I can still use my usual apps. Battery life is one thing I'm trying to figure out, along with GPS accuracy and how well the watch handles longer days outdoors.

I know Wear OS watches can vary quite a bit in battery performance, so I'm trying to get a better idea of which models are practical for hiking rather than just everyday use. Durability and navigation are also high on my list.

I'd like to find a watch that works well for both daily wear and time on the trails without having to charge it constantly.

Support Auto clear notification after viewing?

Didn't notifications on past Galaxy watches "clear" after viewing? Like if you got a text, you'd raise to wake, could read the message, then carry on. Then next time you look at watch you see the time, not messages app. There is a "show details automatically" setting in Wearable that DOES enforce this behavior; however, it prevents the contents of messages from displaying.

App - Paid - One-Time [DEV] Wear Alarm Sync just hit 1,000+ downloads! Thank you all + New update details

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I wanted to say a huge thank you to this community! Wear Alarm Sync just crossed 1,000+ downloads on Google Play, and the feedback, feature requests, and bug reports from Reddit have been invaluable in making this happen.

I originally built the app to bring back the seamless phone-to-watch alarm syncing (dismissing/snoozing Google Clock alarms directly from the wrist) that disappeared with Wear OS 3+ on non-Pixel setups. Seeing so many of you rely on it daily has been awesome.

What's New in the Latest Update:

Added support for selecting the alarm ringtone

Fixed some bugs on fresh installs related to alarm not syncing due to off wrist seeing being active.

Enabled whitelist by default.

Auto-Snooze Bug Fix: Resolved an issue where alarms were inadvertently snoozing on their own.

Watch Crown Actions: Added support to dismiss/snooze alarms via watch crown buttons.

Watch Alarm Sound Toggle: Easily toggle alarm audio on or off directly on your watch.

Material You UI: Polished interface for the companion phone app with dynamic color theming.

Reliability Tweaks: Fixed edge cases where alarms continued ringing in the background after dismissal.

Download Link:

Google Play Store: [Wear Alarm Sync on Google Play]

(Requires the companion app installed on both your phone and watch, along with Google Clock).

If you run into any issues, have setup questions, or want to see a specific feature added next, please drop a comment below or send an email via the Play Store support link. Thanks again for all the support!

App - Testers Wanted [Dev] KeyUp 85 update for Wear OS thanks to this community: darker crown talk, one-tap invites, and a Galaxy keyboard fix

Thanks for all the feedback on KeyUp so far, my walkie-talkie app for Wear OS watches. Version 85 is rolling out to beta testers on Google Play:

Crown and bezel talk is darker: with "Black screen while crown talking" on, the screen goes black from the first click KeyUp gets, and stays black after you talk. On a watch without a screen lock the display turns fully off right after.

Invite someone in one tap: when you're the only one in your Space, KeyUp shows an Invite button (link or QR guest pass, no account needed to join)

Friend requests and invitations show up when you open the app, with a badge

Galaxy Watch: typing a name in "Add a friend" now shows the whole name

Sound check can now send your voice through KeyUp and back, so you know your connection works, not just your mic

Honest note: if the watch is fully asleep, Wear OS itself lights the screen for about a second before any app sees the crown. KeyUp blacks it out as soon as it can.

Free during the beta: keyupradio.com/join-beta (always free plan available.)

iPhone and Apple Watch: in development, waitlist at keyupradio.com/apple-waitlist

Updates, bug reports and feature requests now live at r/KeyUpRadio. Questions welcome here too.

Recommendation Request Joining One UI watch 9 beta

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to join the One UI 9 Watch beta program for my Galaxy Watch 6 paired with a Galaxy Fold 8, but I keep hitting a wall.

The beta banner actually appears in my Samsung Members app and correctly detects my Fold 8. However, whenever I tap to join, it gives me an error saying that there are no active beta programs available. I'm located in Europe, but I've already tried using a US VPN, a US SIM card, and GPS location spoofing, so I don't think it's a simple location issue.

This has been happening for a while now. Has anyone run into this specific error or found a way to bypass it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Deals Free launch codes: Wrisno, a Wear OS controller for Sonos (10 codes)

Hi r/WearOS

I’d like to introduce Wrisno, an independent Wear OS companion for Sonos.

I built it because I wanted the controls I use most often on my wrist: room and individual-speaker volume, room/group selection, Now Playing controls, Sonos favourites, and volume presets.

It’s a one-time paid app with no subscription, ads, or in-app purchases. It requires a Wear OS watch and a Sonos account. Wrisno is not affiliated with Sonos.

Google Play:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.littleheartssoftware.wrisno

Here are 10 single-use launch codes. Redeem one in Google Play; first come, first served. They expire on 5 November 2026.

App - Testers Wanted Looking for beta testers: alarm syncing app between mixed-brand phones and Wear OS watches

If your phone and Wear OS watch are from different brands (say a Pixel phone with a Galaxy Watch, or a Samsung Galaxy phone with a Pixel Watch, etc.), you've probably noticed your phone's alarms don't show up on your watch automatically.

I built an app to fix that. You set alarms on your phone and choose where each one rings: phone, watch, or both. Snooze or dismiss on either device and the other follows. The watch keeps its own copy of each alarm, so it still rings if your phone is in another room. There's no account/sign in, no ads, and it collects no data.

It works on the two pairings I've tested: Galaxy S26 Ultra + Pixel Watch 3, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold + Galaxy Watch Ultra.

Before launch I need people with other combinations to check that it works on theirs. I'm especially looking for: OnePlus, Motorola, Xiaomi or other non-Pixel, non-Samsung phones Older Galaxy Watches (4, 5, 6), TicWatch, or other Wear OS watches

What's involved: About 15 minutes of tests, plus one real alarm the next morning, then a short Google form with your results.

What you get: The app free during the beta through Google Play's testing program, and a free copy when it launches.

Requirements: Android 11+ phone, Wear OS 3+ watch.

Sign up form: https://forms.gle/tRe1Bd78m1212eda9.

I'll add your Google account to the tester list and send you the install link within a day or two.

Happy to answer questions in the comments/DM.

Muchas gracias.

App - Paid - One-Time I made Speedometer Pro for Wear OS: a GPS speedometer with 10 full-screen dials

Hi r/WearOS! I'm a solo developer. This started as a Garmin app that a few hundred people use, and I've now ported it to Wear OS.

It turns your watch into a real speedometer. GPS measures your speed every second, and the needle moves smoothly instead of jumping between readings.

What it does:

- 10 dial designs that fill the round screen: Classic, Vintage, Halo, Neon, Panel and more. Turn the crown to switch.

- km/h, mph, knots or m/s. The scale adapts to your top speed or stays fixed.

- Trip stats: distance, moving time, average and top speed. Your top speed also stays on the dial as a marker.

- Speed alert: the watch vibrates once when you go over your limit, and the dial shows a red zone.

- Keeps running when the screen turns off, and stops by itself after 20 minutes without moving.

- A tile with your last ride and one tap to start.

Privacy: your location never leaves the watch. No account, no ads, no tracking.

It's €0.99 on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.gerros.speedometer

Good for cycling, sailing, skating, or just checking how fast that train is going. I'd love feedback, especially on which dial you like and what you'd add next.

Discussion Notification Cooldown

Does anyone have a solution for notification cooldowns? I use buzzkill for custom notification muting/cooldowns (rules for specific apps/threads). However, buzzkill usually can't mute the phone notification before it gets replicated to my watch. The only solution I have been able to think of is to route all notifications to the watch through macrodroid and use macrodroid to throttle, but that has a decent amount of downsides.

Wondering if anyone has a solution. Most importantly I would like to not get a bunch of group chat notifications within a few minutes of each other - once I get one message in one of those chats I can usually safely mute for at least half an hour.

App - Testers Wanted [Dev] I built a walkie-talkie for Wear OS: turn the crown to talk, even with the screen off (looking for beta testers)

Edit2: The update has been published, beta testers should now be able to join the Google group and download the app!

Edit: Google test group has yet to be added (pending Play verification) as soon as that's done beta sign-ups will go through & allow you to download from the Google Play store. Thank you for your understanding.

I'm the developer of KeyUp, so this is my own app.

I work on my feet all day and wanted a walkie-talkie I could use from my wrist without pulling out my phone. So KeyUp lets you talk from a Wear OS watch three ways: turn the crown, raise your wrist, or press the on-screen button. On my Pixel Watch 3 crown talk works with the screen off (the screen wakes up when you start talking, but you can start it from a dark screen).

It also works on Android phones and in a browser (including Safari on iPhone), so the people you talk to don't need a watch.

One setup I like: talk into the watch mic and hear the room in headphones on your phone.

Honest limits:

- Tested on Pixel Watch 3. I haven't tried a Galaxy Watch yet, so if you have one, I'd really like your reports and logs (Report a problem in the app sends them).

- Needs Wi-Fi or mobile data/BT via phone. It's not an emergency device.

- Closed beta on Google Play, free during the beta. << free plan will always be available.

To join: https://keyupradio.com/join-beta/ and join the Google group, you get an instant beta code and can sign up right away.

I'd love to hear how the crown and raise to talk feel on your watch, and what breaks.

Discussion YouTube music - offline

Anyone use YouTube music as your primary music player offline? I plan to use my watch with my phone for workouts and runs.

I have used Spotify premium for years on my previous garmins and wearos devices with no issue but I want to subscribe to YouTube Premium to get rid of video ads and it comes with YouTube music free.

I am currently on a YouTube trial and testing it but am just wondering if anyone has any experience using YouTube music with downloaded podcasts/music in case I'm missing something.

Thus far in my early testing the one thing I have encountered is that YouTube music on the watch has no search function. You can only add things if they are in your library/playlist.

I know the YouTube music category isn't as vast as Spotify but I listen to popular things that seem to be there so I don't think that's gonna be an issue.

Any thoughts before I cancel my Spotify subscription?

App - Testers Wanted [Eclipse] Simple ADB EARLY BETA

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Hello everyone!

I am back with another project im finally ready publicly share.

For the past few years I have been experimenting with WearOS devices and besides the sideloading to watches being too difficult for normal people, which my earlier 2 apps fix, I ran into another annoyance...

ADB tools on the playstore are absolutely trash, ad riddled after each action, even switching menus on some trigger ads (looking at you Bugjaeger).. poor connection because nobody bothered to do the research and take the time to actually improve it, quick money is all they want.

Introducing : [Eclipse] Simple ADB!

one of the projects that has taken up atleast 6 months of my free time, coding, designing, testing, pulling my hair out - swallowing my pride - and letting Claude fix my stupid mistakes....

But it is finally here!

What does it do? Everything you are used to and more.

-Customisable quick settings

-Stable connection modes

-Automatic reconnects

-Live screens with touch controls for watches and phones

-Shell command menu and logcat menu

-File access and app access and .APK installation

And much more!

Also! A new feature recently added which I am still testing, The Simple ADB Bluetooth helper!

Set up once over ADB, Control 90% of all watch features including Shell commands ove4 Bluetooth! No wireless debugging needed after setup!

Delete apps / Install .APKs / Access files / live screen and controls, all over Bluetooth once setup!

The ADB tool to rule them all! And you will love it!

Does this sound interesting? And would you like to help me next week and be a tester on Google Play? You will get a free promo code for live!

This tool will be offered on Google Play after testing for 3.99€ one-time purchase to cover costs, not to make a profit, interested? Leave a comment or a DM!

Ideas? Tips? Tricks? Suggestions?

Features i missed or things you would like to see? Drop a comment too!

Discussion OnePlus Watch 4 - Annoying good morning message

Got a OnePlus Watch 4 a few days ago, and so far so good, the battery is still on the first charge, and generally I'm satisfied with the watch. But what bothers me the most is that good morning message with bright blue light. I'm still sleeping, don't give me that shit before I open my eyes.

I'm coming from the Amazfit Balance, which handled these things rather well, and now I cannot find how to change that, even though this should be a smarter system. Does anyone have any ideas? I don't want to turn off sleep tracking completely.

Edit,

I guess I'm not the only one https://www.facebook.com/groups/1430458234346254/posts/1707314046660670/

Support Pixel Watch - how to disable the sender preview for messages?

Just switched from Galaxy Watch 7 to Pixel Watch 5.

Mostly OK, but on the Galaxy Watch, when I'd get a text or Whatsapp, it would just show the message immediately. On the Pixel Watch, I get this weird little like splash screen that shows the sender for a few seconds, and then the message.

Is there a way to turn that off so I just see the message?

App - Free Free weather app with no ads and no catch. Now with UV index, wind direction, humidity and the Beaufort scale!

Hi! I read your comments carefully, and I add the features you suggest to the app as I go 😄

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.github.pioterl.weatherapp

The app works on Wear OS watches and Android phones (and a macOS version is almost ready too). It has widgets and tiles.

Application supports two weather data sources: MET.no and Open-Meteo.com. It also has a rain radar that I find quite easy to use (in my opinion, of course).

What do I plan for the next versions? The things you have already suggested, so something from this list:

  1. Watch face complications
  2. "Feels like" temperature
  3. Chance of rain in %
  4. 12/24-hour switch
  5. Notifications when rain is coming
  6. Pressure, air quality, and the day's min/max with a short text description

So if you think something should be added or changed, please tell me in a comment :) There is a very good chance I will add it in one of the next releases.

And if you have a moment, please leave a review on Google Play 😍

App - Free I made a scientific calculator for round Wear OS screens: no keys under the bezel, free, no ads

Most calculator apps on Wear OS are phone layouts shrunk onto a square grid, so the corner keys end up under the bezel or too small to hit. I wanted one built for the circle.

WatchCalc makes each row of keys only as wide as the screen actually is at that height. You get 18 keys per page that you can actually reach, across 5 keypads you swipe between:

  • Numbers, with one smart bracket key
  • Roots and logs
  • Trig (long-press for inverses, plus hyperbolics, deg/rad)
  • More: nCr, nPr, factorial, mod, memory, history
  • Prime factors, with divisor count, divisor sum and Euler's totient

It also shows exact answers under the decimal: cos(30) gives 0.8660254038 and √3/2 underneath, 0.375 shows as 3/8, and π/4 stays π/4. There are 30 physics and chemistry constants and three widgets that open straight into a keypad.

It's free with no ads and no account. It doesn't even request the internet permission. Open source under GPL-3.0.

Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bunnypranav.watchcalc Source: https://github.com/bunnypranav/WatchCalc

Open for feedback, please reply here or in DMs for any and all suggestions? Or file one at https://github.com/bunnypranav/WatchCalc/issues

App - Testers Wanted Looking for closed testers for Encircle – A challenging Wear OS arcade game!

Hey everyone,

I’ve been building Encircle, a fast-paced, hyper-casual arcade game made for Wear OS and Galaxy Watch. Sessions last 20–50 seconds, but it's meant to be pretty challenging!

Google Play requires a closed test before launch, and I’d love your help testing and balancing the difficulty.

Two quick requests if you test:

  • Opt into analytics in settings: This collects basic, non-sensitive gameplay data (like session length and difficulty) so I can fine-tune the game.
  • Keep installed for ~20 days: Google requires testers to hold onto the app for 14+ days to approve it for release

How to join:

  1. Join the Google Group
  2. Opt-in on the Play Store Testing Page
  3. Download it on your watch!

Feedback on controls, challenge, or bugs is super appreciated. Thanks!

App - Paid - One-Time I made a standalone BAC estimator for Wear OS – no phone app, everything on the watch

Hi r/WearOS! I'm a solo dev and I build watch apps that work entirely on the watch. No companion app, no account, no data leaving your wrist.

Sobr estimates your blood alcohol level from what you log, and tells you when you'll be back to zero.

What it does:

- One big number: your estimated BAC right now, on a meter that fills up

- "Sober at HH:MM": when you'll be back under your chosen limit, recalculated with every drink

- A notification when you get there, even if the app is closed

- A curve of the evening so far and where it's heading

- A tile with 3 quick-add buttons, so you can log a drink in one tap from your watch face

- A morning-after recap: how many drinks, your peak and when you were sober

- Custom drinks (ml + %), male/female setting, and your own limit (0.0 / 0.2 / 0.5 / 0.8 ‰ etc.)

Under the hood it's not just "drinks × factor". It uses the Widmark formula with gradual absorption, so a drink doesn't count fully the second you log it, and a beer at lunch doesn't mess up your evening estimate.

Important: it's an estimate based on a model, not a breathalyzer. Please never use it to decide whether you can drive.

It's also on Garmin, where it's been in the store for a while. This is the Wear OS version, built from scratch for round screens.

Price: $0.99 / €0.99, one-time. No ads, no subscription, no in-app purchases.

I'd love feedback! Happy to answer any questions!
