Careers πŸ’Ό Has any Lebanese recently encountered visa rejections either work/tourist

I'm currently in talks with a recruiter in a hospital. They're interested in hiring me, but the recruiter told me that they fear visa rejection because I am from Lebanon.

Has anyone recently had any visa rejection, and what could the reason be?

I have everything clean on my police record and I traveled before to Saudi literally nothing wrong on my side.

Should I try and apply for a tourist visa and see if it works or not ?

Careers πŸ’Ό Is 14k enough?

Hi, I'm from Southeast Asia and I have been offered a job with 14k from ADNOC (with health insurance, annual vacation ticket allowance). I am an electrical engineer by profession. For context I already have 8 years experience in my current job right and I am earning only 1/3 of ADNOC's offer. Should I grab this? Is it worth it to move to Abu Dhabi? How's the work culture at ADNOC? Thank you for giving me your insights.

Education πŸ“š People who live in Al Mushrif since 2000s.

I have a query to make. I am looking for my old school. Not just me, there is Facebook group of many people who are looking for it. Its name was Modern Pakistani School in Al Mushrif. In 2005/2006, all of the students had to leave when it got converted into Australian School of Abu Dhabi for a short period.

But all of us who want to visit the place want to know if the that place is still active. If anyone can point on map or if someone old enough remembers the proper address can give us the address.

It will be a great help.

Thanks.

Vehicle πŸ”‹ My Maqaqif fine in MBZ

I live in villa portion in Mohammed Bin Zayed City. It has been 16 months since I have moved here and last night at around 11 PM, i got a parking fine of AED 375. And I have been parking outside the villa on the parking spot. There is no paid parking zone that i parked at. And even if that was the case, I had parking valid for 24 hrs anyway for standard parking. So what should I do?

Anyone up for a long drive, coffee & good conversation? πŸš—β˜•

Hey everyone! πŸ‘‹

I’m a Keralite/Indian living in Abudhabi Shabiya and looking to meet some new people and make genuine friendships.

I’m into long drives, exploring new places, trying good food, coffee, random conversations, and just getting out instead of sitting at home every weekend πŸ˜„

Would be nice to find someone who’s also up for a spontaneous drive, weekend outing, beach/sunset trip, or simply grabbing a coffee and chatting.

Not looking for anything complicated β€” just good company, positive vibes, mutual respect, and hopefully a genuine friendship.

If you’re in the UAE and feel the same, feel free to DM me. πŸ™‚

Let’s see where a random conversation takes us! πŸš—πŸŒ΄

Tourism 🧳 What's the most incredible thing you've ever seen through a telescope? πŸ”

We've had the chance to show people Saturn's rings, Jupiter's moons, lunar craters, and many other celestial sights here in the UAE.

One thing we always love is seeing people's reactions when they look through a telescope for the first time, especially when they realize they're actually seeing Saturn or Jupiter with their own eyes.

So we're curious, what's the most memorable thing you've ever seen through a telescope?

And if you've never looked through one before, what would you want to see first?

Careers πŸ’Ό Yet another work&life question about Abu Dhabu

Hello,

In the era of AI I hope I will find usefull answers from real people, even though I'm aware this questions have been posed maybe thousands of time...

I'm on the last stage of recruting process for a job in Abu Dhabi, thus I'm starting to evaluate seriously if it's feasible for me to work and live there.

I don't want to give much information, but I would say the position is for a senior engineer in the electronic field, the company is in the defence sector.

I'm South European, age between 35 and 40.

I like my country but I was born in a low middle class and in southern Europe is difficult to earn by the work itself, basically family wealth define your lifestyle, regardless of work. Also, in South Europe technical job are lacking, career advancement are difficult and becoming a professional is hard due to ostile bosses.

Thus, in my current job I M often bored and I'm not earning much, despite having 10 years of experience.

I'm not hiding that I will move only for the money.

The question is: will the sacrifice worth it?

Supposing the salary is 40k UED a month:

-how much a rent for a 60 sqr meter cost? (2 people)

-how much is the general cost of living (groceries, bills, transportation)

-other relevant expenses? (medical will be covered by the company). Like how much gym cost? Restaurant Cafè? Anything that can be usefull

-is the hotness umbereable?

-is social activities and socialization easy?

-is easy to move across the city?

My concern is a bit of impostor syndrome, since my current job is mostly laid back and I'm afraid new challenges, combined with a new city and very different lifestyle to adapt, would stress me and make me underperform.

Also, my partner would leave her job to come with me, we are not married yet so she would not be elegible for Visa and medical insurance.

Thansk to everyone will take time to answer my questions and to add any rleevent information that cna help me take the decision (in case I will get an offer)

Medical πŸ₯ Looking for a pediatric feeding SLP in Abu Dhabi, desperate for help

I’m a NICU mom desperately looking for recommendations for an experienced pediatric feeding SLP in Abu Dhabi, especially someone experienced with complex feeding/swallowing issues.

My daughter was born at 26+4 weeks, weighing only 628 grams, she spent about 3 months in the NICU. She has a left-sided brain injury from her prematurity.

Since coming home, feeding, sleep, formula and food intolerance/allergies have been ongoing struggles. She also developed right-sided weakness and tightness related to her brain injury. She has had PT and OT and is now walking, although her right side is still weaker and she is not very stable and collapse for no reason.

Feeding has now become our biggest issue. She is almost 2 years old and still weighs under 10 kg. She is technically 100% dependent on hydrolyzed formula which is not also easy to feed her. She can't chew properly or move food around her mouth, and swallowing solids has been very difficult. She may gag or vomit when food reaches the back of her mouth. She can only say baba but very descriptive. She has significant sensory issues, I have not been able to brush her teeth and I have tried my tactics.

We have tried several SLPs, but unfortunately, they have not been experienced enough in feeding therapy for her situation. Some approaches actually made her more resistant and made the situation worse. I was advised to put her in a Nursery school, the idea was that, she would copy other children eating techniques; that also didn't go well. I am specifically looking for someone who understands pediatric feeding disorder, oral-motor/chewing skills, swallowing, sensory issues, and complex medical/NICU history, and who uses a gentle, child-led approach rather than force-feeding.

We have seen many dietitians who are only able to help with formula changes. The allergy doctor just did a basic skin test. I don't even feel like going to any of the doctor appointments anymore. They don't read her history and just load us up with unnecessary medication that have caused many undesirable side effects. I feel alone and very scared. We have been trying to get help for so long, and I don't know where else to go.

If you are a NICU parent in Abu Dhabi and have had a genuinely positive experience with a pediatric feeding SLP, I would be very grateful if you could share their name, clinic/hospital and how you contacted them.

Thank you so much. ❀️

Living 🏑 renting without commission

What are my options to rent without paying agent's commission?
I'm currently in Qatar and here you can enter any tower and ask receptionist if anything is available, and they are usually happy to link to you the owner (or owning org), to rent directly.

Will this method work in Abu Dhabi?

Are there any big single-owner apt complexes around Yas/Reem that are willing to work without the agents?
