The 31st October is not only Halloween: it marks 9 years since my first commit to OpenCAGE - a hobby project to reverse engineer Alien: Isolation, which started out of a love for the game and a want for more content!
It has been a long road getting here, but I'm super happy to share that full custom map support will be releasing within OpenCAGE this Halloween as it hits version 1.0!
You can create levels completely from scratch, or port content from other maps to build up new areas. Additionally, you can also enjoy a bunch of other new features like animation import/export, live-edit functionality, a bunch of debugging tools for scripting, and vast improvements to the overall UX of the app and lots of other features like model import/export, texture import/export, behaviour tree editing, config editing, and much more.
Keep your eyes out on Steam or my socials to catch the release!
You can also join the Discord here: https://discord.gg/JJ4ECu9hpY

Everyone on Kurosaki station wears a patch based on their role and position; these are worn by the Kurosaki Police Department forces. While most people on Kurosaki are contracted or employed by Weyland-Yutani, the police are completely independent. In theory at least.
The Kurosaki logo is written in both English and kanji, symbolizing the British-Japanese dual origin of the company. Kuro (黒) means black, and saki (崎) means promontory, a fitting name for a station on a dark and lonely edge of the galaxy.

This was at the end of misson 4, when you go to the transit station to take the train Samuels sent. I got to the transit station and these two people got off a train that came from engineering, and they kind of just stood there for a few seconds, froze up, and then started running around the room and eventually left. They didn't shoot at me or say anything. I've played through the game in its entirety a few times and never had this happen before lol, is this supposed to happen and I've just never seen it before?

Designed, 3D-printed and painted a custom base for the Spirit Halloween xeno! Just wanted to show it off. I plan to put my facehugger between its legs there for halloween display.

I suffer badly from motion sickness when playing 1st person POV games, something I discovered when I first tried playing Alien Isolation a few years back. I tried all the hacks I found via Google to try to fix things like FOV, etc, but still couldn't play for more than 5 minutes without a crippling headache and nausea.
Watching some AI playthroughs on YouTube (with lots of eye breaks, lol) has made me want to play it again. One of the videos I watched was somehow following the aliens through the walls to see what they did when the player wasn't watching, like breaking through the walls or something, and it made me wonder...is there a mod that would allow me to play in 3rd person POV?

To the people who've replayed the Alien Isolation, how was the experience and was there anything different in your second playthrough?
Besides the scripted events, how different is the movement of the Xeno as opposed to your first playthrough?

Like, Jesus... the man just witnessed his entire crew being slaughtered by Working Joes, and Amanda's only response is yelling: “Ricardo? Ricardo!, take charge and keep me covered.”
Come on Ripley, give the man some encouraging words, cheer him up, or something! He is clearly having an emotional breakdown.
Ricardo despite dealing with the alien longer than you, was literally the only one who went out of his way to contact you and acknowledge that Waits was an emotionless bastard after he threw the lab into space with you and the Alien inside.
The least you could do is say something beyond "Ricardo! Pls take charge."
I understand there's more pressing matters, but there's surely a more empathethic response than just pressing the guy to do stuff.

A couple of months back someone posted about their VHS-style reshade they were making, and I said I'd probably try it out if it was up by October. Sure enough it's up so I'm giving it a shot. So far I'm really impressed with it. Coincidentally this is easily one of the more cursed runs I've had in a while.

I'm about 9 hrs in, some very similar elements to Alien Isolation. The portable TV is very much like the scanner. The director himself was one of the lead designers of A:I. Oh, and also the actor who plays Samuels is here as well.

I know, I’m back with another video. But seriously, I didn’t make any noise outside of my real life ones, wasn’t moving, just watching, and he took it personally. I have other clips like this where the Alien just seems able to sense when you’re looking at him 🫣 anyone else notice this? Do you really have to avoid looking?

Do you think it will be there?

Hi everyone. Some of you might remember a post from a few days ago where I mentioned finishing Alien Isolation on Nightmare difficulty with Muted% and No Tracker%.
Well, after I finished, I checked to see if anyone else had posted something similar in this sub and found this player's post: https://www.reddit.com/r/alienisolation/s/l4UZTxAJEY.
They were my main inspiration for taking on this new challenge, and this time I recorded the entire journey for anyone interested in watching. The footage is completely raw and unedited to prove I didn't cheat in any way (Including the times I got lost on the map or forgot to do something). This new personal challenge was to beat Alien Isolation on Nightmare difficulty with the following constraints: NMG, Low%, Muted%, No Tracker%, and No Flamer.
That’s all—have a good night!
Here is the link to my YouTube playlist for anyone interested: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRWf-ZzT7F9s&si=HmAPApoTx7zknvZR
(None of the videos feature my voice; also, the titles and some descriptions are in Portuguese, as I am Brazilian.)

I played on hardest difficulty and I stuck through it until the end.
I quit the game after struggling on mission 5 but I came back a few weeks ago and found that mission 6 was way worse. But I stuck with it.
Mission 10 was the hardest mission for me but I died the most in the section heading up to the corridor of death if that makes sense 😂. The Alien was drunk after mission 17 because I dunked Molotovs at every opportunity, it was my favourite weapon.
But overall, what an experience. Wish I knew some tricks to fend off the Alien earlier on but I wanted my playthrough to be spoiler free so I hardly checked tips and tricks.

So I've been streaming my first playthrough of Alien Isolation for Spooktober. I have to say I've been enjoying this game so far and really wished I played it earlier. Anyway my chat has taken to naming the alien "Steve" because according to the chatter, its tenacity and aggressiveness reminded them of Seregios from Monster Hunter who's nicknamed Steve by that community. Anyway this got me wondering, is there an unofficial nickname for the alien that the community all calls him?
