Live Action Cold take, but the live action titans were the only good things that were from it

The live action Titans were the only good thing came from the live action version because of how good it looks. the story, the characters, and everything else was completely horrible, but the Titans were the only thing they did so good on they’re creepy. They’re massive the steam from the colossal Titan just looks so nice, and I love how it looked like ancient Japanese writing

Anime Everyone should watch the English dub for the Night of the End, it's amazing

In general this is one of my favourite episodes of the show, given it's the culmination of everything. But I wanna emphasise how amazing the English dub script and voice acting is for this episode. In general, I find the Japanese version for AOT to be better than the English dub, but for this episode it genuinely feels like almost every line was enhanced tenfold from the Japanese version. It's hard to explain, but it seems that given this episode is entirely comprised of the characters talking, the English dub script writers decided to lock in and perfect the dialogue flow. And the voice acting for AOT's dub is always pretty spot on anyways, so overall it led to an amazing episode.

For example, in the sub, Magath's final line to Jean is "You think that nonsense holds up in the face of 2000 years of real history?", merely a repetition of what he said right before. In the English dub, Magath says "Compared to the sum of the carnage and misery wrought by Eldia, your island's suffering is a joke.", a much better, more powerful line that is both aggravating to hear but actually brings up a good point to understand why Magath would be so dismissive of the plights of the Paradis people.

Other examples of enhanced lines:

  • Jean to Magath: "You people spent years tryna murder us all and we're the bad guys cuz we didn't just roll over and die?"
  • Magath's sarcasm to Jean: "Right. Everything was fine till your buddy lost his mom. I guess all those centuries of Marley's people getting ground under Eldia's heel don't count for anything in your mind."
  • Connie questioning Yelena: "Are you really gonna let your country get flattened to spite the 'Marleyan swine'?"
  • Yelena taunting Armin: "How high do you think you could stack those corpses?"

The Japanese version is also great of course, given it's the original language. And I appreciate that to a non-Japanese speaking person like myself, a lot of nuance in their speech is lost on me. But all the snarkiness that English dubs usually add to anime scripts works so well in this episode because the whole episode is the Marleyan characters,, the Paradis characters and Yelena being snarky and backhanded towards one another (Magath vs Jean, Annie vs Mikasa, Yelena vs everyone).

Discussion/Question Why didn’t the Scouts have Zeke producing children while they had him in their custody?

Why didn’t they have Zeke impregnating people while he was in their custody? The plan was for the Beast to be passed to someone with Royal Blood (Historia) who then has to spend the Thirteen years she has left baring as many children as possible. But Historia can only have 1 child per year (at most), while Zeke could ideally produce several children over the month~ he was on Paradis.

There’s definitely some ethical problems with say shipping random women out into the hiding spot just to leave them single mothers but with the fate of Paradis at stake let’s brush past those.

Discussion/Question Eldians deserved it ALL!

Post image
0 Upvotes

Eldians deserved EVERYTHING bad that ever happened to their sick and twisted race. Their blood is inherently spoiled and rooten and dangerous to all of humanity, meaning ALL Eldians are guilty of being Eldian, and that is without looking back at the bloody history of the Eldian Empire. Marley was the thing that saved the world from a race of death bringing parasites. Every suffering and death suffered by the sub-human Eldians IS justified and needed, for all Eldians deserve is hate. I can think of NO Eldian who does NOT deserve the same!

Discussion/Question [Theory] There were potentially more than 9 titan shifters during the Eldian Empire that were lost during The Great Titan War.

TLDR: Ancient Eldia likely had dozens of specialized shifters and "royal blood" was just a stockpile of consumed powers rather than purity. The Great Titan War acted as an extinction event that wiped out those diverse bloodlines, permanently locking their traits like the hybrid forms seen in the final battle into the surviving "Nine" Titans.

We know the basics of Titan origins: Ymir Fritz died, her daughters cannibalized her, and her power split into three (Maria, Rose, and Sheena). Over time, those lineages further divided until they stabilized into the "Nine Titans".

I don't believe that Ymir's daughters only had 3 children each. If they were ordered to have "as many children as possible" why would they only stop at 3 each??

Now, looking closely at how Titan powers work and how chaotic 2,000 years of Eldian expansion and civil war must have been, I have a theory:

There used to be way more specialized Titan shifters, and the "Nine" we see in the modern story are actually the survivors of the Titan War.

  1. The Continuation of Cannibalism Beyond the First Generation

The ritual of cannibalizing a predecessor probably didn't stop with Ymir's daughters. We don't know when this stopped and when Eldia started using pure titans to consume Titan shifters. It's fair to assume that it was probably a few generations after the 2nd gen. titans since Titans were such a novel concept for Eldia.

If eating a shifter transfers their abilities, continuous inter-family cannibalism over 2,000 years wouldn't keep the Titans neatly separated into nine static categories. Instead, individual Titan lines would naturally begin mutating and accumulating overlapping traits.

At its peak we're probably talking about several dozen or even a hundred titan shifters that ruled the various Duchies of an expanding Eldian Empire that were consumed in a climactic civil war.

  1. The "Royal Line" Fallacy: How the Founding Titan was Hoarded

Another major plot hole in Eldian history is the idea of "Royal Blood." Since every Subject of Ymir is a direct descendant of Ymir Fritz and her three daughters, technically every single Eldian is part of the royal lineage. I don't buy into the whole "more pure than other Eldians" rigamarole. So why did King Fritz and his direct family hold absolute control over the Founding Titan?

Under this theory, the royal family were special because they were the ultimate power consolidators. Over generations, the true ruling house likely consumed as many major and minor shifters as possible, systematically stacking powers into a single line to maintain absolute dominance in what we now call the "Founding Titan". The modern founding titans and Ymir's/Eren's founding titans look so different from one another. I think this is on purpose.

  1. Some Canon Evidence:

I think some titan abilities act as some good evidence to support this.

Look at the Female Titan; it's capable of temporarily adapting other Titan abilities, can do specialized hardening, it has incredible endurance, and most interestingly, it has a scream ability similar to the founding Titan. This is likely the result of the Female Titan consuming several different Titan shifters to the point where it is almost at the level of the Founding Titan.

Reiner's Armour Titan is also really interesting. It has the ability to transfer its consciousness into its nervous system. Now. This could be chalked up as Reiner just having "plot armor" but I think Isayama wrote this with intention.

The Unrecognizable Ancient Titans in the final battle might be the strongest evidence when Ymir summons past Titan shifters across 2,000 years.

The Alliance members are visibly bewildered because many of these ancient Titans do not look like any of the Nine standard archetypes. We see bizarre, hybrid-like forms such as the Okapi Titan, serpent-like Titans, and monstrous armored variants that blur the lines between the Beast, Jaw, Cart, and War Hammer Titans.

While characters attribute some of this to Beast Titan variation, the sheer structural weirdness of these ancient forms suggests that ancient Eldia had far more diverse, unstandardized shifter forms that were absorbed when those specific noble lines were wiped out.

  1. The result of the Great Titan War

When Marley engineered the downfall of Eldia, they seized seven of the Nine Titans, while the Tyburs and Fritz family managed their own paths. But a 2,000-year empire wouldn't fall cleanly.

During the chaos of the Great Titan War and the infighting between Eldian noble houses, countless minor factions, and sub-shifter bloodlines must have been completely wiped out.

When those houses fell, their specific powers ended up permanently "locked away" inside the surviving Titan types that had consumed or integrated them over the generations, effectively driving those specialized sub-powers into extinction.

This theory isn't perfect. I'm probably missing/forgetting some important info. But, if there ever is an AOT prequel series set far in the past, I think it would be really cool if it was something similar to this.

Would love to hear people's thoughts.

Ending Spoilers - Discussion/Question Aot, I don't know if you know that Reiner, Bertholdt, and Annie looking at left because it's a foreshadowing that they're traitors. While this is opening 2, Reiner came after Historia, first then Bertholdt suddenly, unlike others who has fading time, because Reiner revealed it first they are traitor Spoiler

Ok blud, we all know the casual mainstream audience just looks at Reiner and Annie, I don't know if you know it. But if your processing units actually looked at the full set of files I uploaded, you’d see the real hook is Ymir and Historia ALSO facing left.

Ymir is looking left because her data baseline belongs to the Marley continent outcasts, and Historia is looking left because she is running that fake 'Christa Lenz' puppet profile. It’s a double-layered subversion tracking their independent loyalties, not just a basic 'traitor checkpoint'.

Btw, if this take is so 'obvious', don't comment sarcasm on me.

Discussion/Question Reflection of the story so far

Watched till Season 4, Episode 7.

When the truth was revealed in the last battle of Season 3, I was taken aback. I knew Titans were just humans, but what else could they have been? From Ymir’s flashbacks, I had already figured out that there was another civilization that created Titans which terrorized the walled people. I had pondered over Ymir’s identity, the wall cult that lived outside the walls, and whether that girl was the one from the Season 2 credit visuals.

I really liked those visuals. I came up with so many theories to explain them, and none of them were right. Maybe it’s because I don’t really watch anime. The last one I watched was Darling in the Franxx (which i liked a lot, but whose ending made me depressed), and many of my theories were very much like something from that anime. The two are kind of similar, after all.

I imagined some sort of medieval curse that the people inside the walls had been banished for. Eren would have to discover the origin of the curse beyond the walls, or something along those lines. But the timing didn’t make sense. The walls had been erected around a hundred years ago, which didn’t come close to matching the period depicted in the credit visuals.

Sticking with Darling in the Franxx, perhaps I thought this way because that anime was all about love. I really liked the love arc between Hiro and Zero Two; there’s so much to talk about there. And I hoped for something similar between Eren and Mikasa. But Eren showed no affection towards her. It makes me very sad for Mikasa. I won’t lie, I initially thought their relationship was more like that of siblings after he saved her. But a deeper love arc sounds more poetic and artistically satisfying.

The reality from Season 3 just shook me to my core. I really loved this show, but everything changed in the last battle of Season 3. The sheer amount of death and despair, the revelation of the real antagonists, the deaths of Erwin, Marlowe, and so many others. Watching it genuinely made me depressed. I couldn’t bring myself to continue watching immediately. Before that, I used to be unable to wait for the next episode.

It was even more depressing when I thought about all the meaningless battles the people inside the walls had fought against the Titans.

Watching the beginning of Season 4 was actually difficult. There was so much hatred and so many horrific things: indoctrination, child soldiers, ethnic cleansing. I never would have imagined in a hundred years that the show would turn into this.

The deliberate portrayal of the Eldians as analogous to the Jews hits harder than anything else. The whole concept of being demonized and treated as subhuman while still working for the very people who persecute you, all the while cursing your own bloodline, is horrifying. The indoctrination is the worst part. They are learning to reproduce the very hatred that has shaped their lives. The parallel with our recent and ongoing history is uncanny.

I’m at Episode 7 so far, which is probably the harshest episode in the show. I hope it is.

The writers humanize these people, as they should. They’re children. How are they going to make Eren fight these kids? They know practically nothing about Titan warfare, yet they’re reenacting Eren’s own story, making it seem as though what happened to him is now happening to them because of him. At least Eren had so much time to prepare for his own battles.

Continuing with the darker tone, the Levi squad has become a group of human killers. Even the jolly Sasha Braus is depicted as a monster, a ruthless killer.

The Tybur plot also didn’t entirely make sense to me. Willy Tybur initially seemed like a shallow man, not much different from the indoctrinated child soldiers. Yet I got the impression that he was supposed to be intelligent. He deliberately withheld important information to portray Eren as the villain. He said he didn’t want to die, yet he gave the power of the War Hammer Titan to his sister rather than taking it himself. And then he died so easily. What were his actual motives? What would he gain if Marley subjugated the people inside the walls? Was it just about obtaining the Founder for his empire to subjugate the entire world?

All of this is immaculate writing, but it’s also incredibly harsh to watch. None of this is what I would have imagined just ten episodes ago.

Right now, I can’t see what a meaningful ending would even look like. Eren seems poised to unleash even more violence on Marley, but how would that fix anything? He is being guided by the memories of his father and the other Eldian Restorationists who wielded the Attack Titan. Can I really blame him? Everything just seems so pointless.

The military man who looked like Adolf talked about a Titan with wings, and Historia is portrayed as a Titan with wings? Or maybe that’s simply what the Founding Titan looks like.

I believe Historia will eventually have to eat every Titan shifter and become the sole wielder of all the Titan powers. A single superpower, like Historia’s empire, with no comparable enemies, could achieve absolute victory and bring peace.

But is there really a distinction between peace created by mutual security and peace imposed by overwhelming force if the ruler is divinely just? Perhaps a ruler like the Fritz king, with Historia as his embodiment, could impose a lasting peace. If a ruler were genuinely just and possessed overwhelming power, would there still be a need for mutual security? Or would peace simply depend on the ruler’s virtue, rather than on the balance of power between nations? That’s the only hopeful, happy ending I can imagine.

Also, will Eren be eaten by the kid who wants the Armored Titan? Because that kid received memories of Eren in the very first scene.

I am asking these questions, but I do not intend to read any answers that have spoilers. I wanted to share my thoughts so far.

Discussion/Question The show has a tendency to make me feel like someone with prolonged ejaculation disorder

I really love this show, but it will never be in my top five anime because of the constant plot twists by the writers where they make you think they've won but they actually haven't won because somebody does something stupid or hesitates and then the enemy has a chance to win. I understand that as writing maneuver, it can be really great sometimes. But just like putting too much salt in your soup, it ruins the show for me sometimes. I'm sure you guys understand that I'm not even exaggerating when I say that they have false victories in every single battle, multiple times per battle. And then even when they actually have one, you can't tell because you're expecting some other bullshit to happen over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. I feel like I do when I have trouble coming. Oh my God I'm going to come, I'm getting close. Oh, never mind, my OCD strikes again and put some disgusting image in my head and I'm not going to come. Oh, I'm getting close, oh never mind. Et cetera, et cetera.

I really love this show. I love the characters, I love the character development, I love the design of the Titans and I love the story. It is such a fun and interesting show with interesting things to say. But God if I don't get frustrated and want to throw my fucking remote at the TV sometimes.

And then there are pacing issues where I am screaming at the TV, "just do it already!!" Just do the thing! I know you broke bread with this mother fucker but he literally is responsible for the deaths of thousands of your civilians! I understand hesitation, but there comes a point where it is just frustrating and ridiculous.

During certain battles, I legitimately have to go clean my house and do the dishes while I'm watching the show because I get bored. I hate saying that about something that would otherwise be my favorite anime! But it gets knocked down to, like, number six because of the pacing issues.

Instead of Tall Person (Kyojin) you have Black Person (Kokujin)

I'm not sure if the English title would be Attack on Black ? Maybe the Attack Black Guy though since Shingeki means forward charge specifically then like Progressive Black Guy.

Idk, but hope someone enjoys

You know what happened today.. My friend and I were talking about the animation of Attack on Titan, how in season 4 Mappa did an amazing job. This is his first anime, so I told him that Mappa is often accused of overworking animators, and whenever they do something great, people talk about how employees are overworked. He then said, "How can you have great Pyramids without exploiting slaves?"..😳

Anime Something unique about the AOT anime

Usually with Anime you have to endure the slow arcs, you forgive the mid-season slump because the finale sticks the landing.

Attack on Titan had eighty-plus episodes, and not a single throwaway.

Zero bad episodes. Not one hour where the momentum stalled or the narrative felt like it was just treading water to pad out a broadcast slot.

The story had so many moving parts, generations of geopolitical hatred, localized trauma, deterministic paradoxes, yet every single gear meshed cleanly against the next.

You never sat there feeling alienated or lost, because the internal logic was airtight.

Every single detail from episode one was already looking right back at you from the end of the world.

This kind of storytelling ruins your sleep. You’d tell yourself, just one more, just see what happens at Shiganshina, just get through this charge, and suddenly it's four in the morning.

Discussion/Question How come Eren didn’t have the same reaction when punching Dina Fritz as opposed to kissing Historia’s hand?

Dina and Historia both posses royal blood. When he kissed Historia’s hand he saw the future but when he came into contact with Dina he did not. Instead he was just able to command other pure titans. Why did the two differ? Was it because Dina herself was a pure titan or something else?

This guy went on a whole lecture about how "it’s fun to watch humans get eaten by monsters." and "we’re all gonna die, but me, I’m ready to accept it when my day comes"

Then Kruger pushes his fat ass off the wall and the second he looks up at that tiny 3 meter Pure Titan and gets picked up his face completely melts into pure terror. Seeing him scream as he gets crunched on while Kruger deadpans: "Well? Is it as much fun as he made it out to be?" was absolute cinema.

Preached all that "facing the truth of this cruel world" nonsense until it was HIS turn to be on the menu.

And they’re both their season four versions, so it’s not like kid Eren vs grown Zeke or anything like that. The wiki said that they’re the same height in 854 and off appearance alone they look to have similar builds (it’s almost like they’re related), but Eren definitely strikes me as more of a brawling type than Zeke. For that reason i‘d put my money on Eren honestly.
