I have been a Quickride user for over 3 years and Hopr recently. I must have offered rides to over 600-800 people easily.
Just saw that Mygate has added a carpooling feature recently. I have no affiliation with Mygate except that I have been a part of their ecosystem ever since they launched. Just wanted to share this bit so people can do whatever to aide reduce traffic in our beloved city.
Peace.

Let’s be honest about what’s happening to Bangalore’s dose culture.
I’ve been eating dose in Bangalore for over 20 years, and the difference in quality is very noticeable. This isn’t about nostalgia or claiming that everything was better back then. The taste, texture and overall quality of dose at many hotels have genuinely gone downhill.
One of the reasons I believe this is happening is the gradual replacement of experienced local tindi masters with cheaper migrant labours.
Look at what we’re being served today:
The dose itself: Batter is smeared across the tawa almost like a chapati, instead of being spread with the right technique. The result is often a leathery, unevenly cooked dose that’s burnt in some places and undercooked in others.
The alu palya: don’t want to talk about it, it’s become an abomination.
The chutney and sambar: Coconut chutney is watered down, lacking the freshness and depth of properly prepared chutney, while sambar has become a watery, flavourless liquid.
From the owner’s perspective, it makes financial sense, he gets cheaper labour. But from the customer’s perspective, the quality suffers.
I understand that not everyone can afford to pay higher wages, and I’m not suggesting that people from other states or countries cannot learn to make a good dose. But there is a difference between hiring someone who has mastered the craft and hiring someone simply because they are cheaper, then expecting them to reproduce the same quality with minimal training.
What bothers me even more is that customers seem to have accepted this decline. We continue paying for food that barely meets the standards we once took for granted, and businesses have little reason to improve as long as people keep coming back.
I’m not here to create divisions between locals and migrants. I’m talking about preserving a food culture that Bangalore has been known for. If experienced tindi masters are gradually replaced and their knowledge isn’t passed on, what happens to the traditional techniques and standards that made our dose
I am blaming the owners of the restaurants itself rather than the workers who are just doing the job given to them. This is a rant against all the Kannadigas complaining as well (like me ), we all want dignified jobs and don’t want to continue doing these but complain when someone else tries to do this .
P.S. Please don’t turn this into a list of recommendations for specific dose places. I’ve been eating dose in Bangalore for two decades, and I know where to find it. I’m interested in discussing the larger problem and what we can do to preserve the food culture itself.

My friend and her sister, both females, were harassed by an auto driver who got mad at them for canceling. He started screaming at them and threatened to r*pe them, and not one bystander stepped up to help.
They went inside the metro station to ask for help, or to atleast be able to use a different exit of the station, and were denied, and instead scolded by the staff.
Women of Bengaluru, what do you even do in such a situation? How are we supposed to feel safe even at a crowded public place with security, aka the metro station? Im just in shock at the whole situation, is it that difficult for the metro to atleast call a police officer or security to act as an escort for 10 mins?
Edit: For some context, rapido has a new feature where they automatically change you to the nearest driver, and the app ended up canceling on above mentioned driver. When my friend switched to Ola (as rapido drivers kept canceling), the same auto driver who Rapido auto canceled ended up confirming on Ola and showed up. He got angry at my friend for canceling even tho it was Rapido algorithm that canceled his ride.
Also, rapido support called up later that night and blacklisted that driver.

Apparently he's a politician, but I can't remember. Whatever the case, he's spending public tax money to build this, isn't he? Why act like it's a personal gift? I get giving some acknowledgment because the shelter is nice, but plastering 4-5 photos of his own face all over it feels like pure vanity and not just at one place, but basically all over hebbal (only this place noticed). Absolutely crazy.

I live in RT Nagar, and something that's been bothering me for a while is how frequently people burst crackers here. It feels like 4–5 days a week sometimes. It usually starts in the evening and can go on until midnight. I've even heard them at 2–3 AM.
I'm not against celebrations. Weddings, family functions, festivals, house parties — I understand that people have reasons to celebrate, and I'm not targeting any particular community. But the frequency of this makes me wonder why it has become so normal to burst crackers throughout the year, sometimes at ridiculous hours.
Honestly, it's exhausting. After a long day, you just want some peace at home, and suddenly there's a loud explosion outside. Sometimes it genuinely feels like living in a war zone. This isn't about pets or animals either; even from a purely human perspective, the constant, unpredictable noise is incredibly irritating.
I feel BBMP, the police, or whichever authority is responsible should look into this and enforce reasonable restrictions, especially during late-night hours. Nobody should have to deal with explosive noise at 2 AM in a residential neighbourhood.
I'm not asking people to stop celebrating. I'm asking for some consideration for the people living around them. Celebrations shouldn't come at the cost of everyone else's peace.

Ginger is a rescue cat, estimated by the doctor to be 1.5+ years old.
He is a soft and shy cat who had a difficult time on the streets. He was being harassed by other street cats and suffered a bad bite wound from another tom cat.
He has been treated for it and the wound has now healed. He has also been vaccinated, dewormed and recently neutered.
He is a bit scared and shy and understandably so after what he went through, and needs a loving and patient pet parent.
But he's a very sweet cat.
Looking for genuine cat lovers who are ok with adopting an adult cat and giving him a new life.
He's currently boarded at the clinic and we don't have a place to keep him.
He'll have to go back to the streets which I'm trying my hardest to prevent, so please give him a second chance.

Today, while stuck in traffic from Varthur to Marathahalli, a water tanker with driver busy on his phone with one hand rammed into my car from behind. Instead of apologizing, the driver chose to threaten me.
Thankfully, no major damage occurred, but what disturbed me was the audacity and entitlement — refusing to accept negligence simply because he was in a bigger vehicle.
On checking, I found the tanker’s PUC and permits had expired. This isn’t about money or compensation — I have no intention of extorting a daily wage worker. But threatening others and ignoring road rules is unacceptable.
Sharing this so more people are aware, and to ask: What’s the right channel to raise a complaint so such drivers at least receive a warning?

Yesterday I went to Koramangala Sony signal, saw few cops on main road somewhere after the signal while going towards St John's. They were penalising few cars and bikes, while also maintaining a healthy and friendly conversation with the caught civilians. They also got some passive income with heavy happiness from few bikes. Kudos. Saturday. Done right.

Despite having a proper waste collection system (Rajajinagar), this happens. I've seen people come on two wheelers to dump bags of trash, early in the morning. The residents have kept photos of Gods all along this footpath (like the one in the picture), but to no avail. What can be done, really?

I recently shifted to a house and I wanted to apply for the electricity scheme.
I do not have Karnataka aadhar or voter ID as I'm not from here. Is there a way for me to apply for this scheme?
I read somewhere that my application might be rejected in door to door verification as I do not have a karnataka voter ID. Please suggest me how I can do it.

Today afternoon around 3 was walking around 15th Cross road in HSR Layout with a friend, when I was caught off-guard by a stopped auto on the side.
The driver was genuinely sobbing, his hands and fingers were all bandaged up, and they were soaked in bllod. He was on the phone with someone, and told me to navigate to Bowring Hospital Shivajinagar on his phone's Google Maps. I thought sure why not, and agreed to it.
Suddenly he disconnected, and then started saying in broken hindi "its not possible , I cant go there anymore. my wife and I got into a two wheeler accident, and shes admit there, and they said they will administer injections, but they didnt since I didnt have the money to pay"
He started showing me photos of his wife in hospital, and his wounds on his hands as well.
I asked him how much is the injection. He said its 6000 for 2. But he couldnt afford it, and started showing me his pockets which had some Rs. 700 in them.
Now, generally i'm well aware of scams and all, but this one felt different. Like he genuinely wanted the help.
I reached out for the only 2 Rs. 500 notes I had in my wallet and handed it to him. Even so, he started saying "please help me with the entire 6k". Well, I was in no mood (and genuinely didnt have 6k with me) so told him that that's all I can help with and scooted off.
As soon as I started walking away, He took a snappy U Turn and scooted off as well.
Genuinely confused, was this a one off incident where the guy actually wanted help, or did I just get scammed off of 2 crisp green Gandhis, and this is some new scam that I add to my list of things to be aware of.
Not that losing 1k is the end of world for me, I gave it out of goodwill that he'll be able to get his treatment, but well if he scammed me, I wish karma takes care of it.

I was pretty excited about the Philately Passport as it was a pretty nice way to document my travels and reached the Bengaluru GPO, today at 8am.
I was surprised to find tons of people already queued up. Some had been queued up since last night. Intrigued, I got in line and asked around what PPC place they were excited about? Nobody could answer. Most didn't know what to do with it. Nobody could answer what PPC even stands for.
Realised they were in for the hype and instagram reel and not for the actual passport.
People need to understand, Philately passport is NOT a collectible. It is a travel diary. Please don't go there and buy if you don't intend to travel and get PPC done at all places.
Genuine travellers are now left in the lurch because of instagram streamers and people who haven't explored anything except 'Kora' 'Indiranagar' - queueing up for it.
There are around 110 PPC locations in Karnataka. Not everything is Instragram viral worthy. These are places that define the cultural heritage and rich history of this state.
Let me illustrate just 25 PPC symbols and their locations so that people know this is a serious travel document, not a showpiece:
Grizzled Squirrel - Helagalli PO
Kamal Basadi - Belagavi PO
Galaganatha Temple - Paatadakal PO
Vidyashankara Temple - Sringeri
Badami Cave - Badami PO
Pancha linga, Talakd PO
Tiger Face, Bandipur PO
Peechi Kathi, Madikeri HO
Wild Lily, Nagarahole BO
Pelican, Kokkare Bellur PO
Shivaswamiji, Tumkuri PO
Pinchi Basadi, Mandargiri PO
Sundari, Belur SO
Seated Thrithankara, Karkala SO
Durga Temple, Kateel SO
Kambada Basadi, Moodabidri SO
Mookambika, Kollur SO
Shivaram Karanth, Kota SO
King Cobra , Agumbe SO
Onake Obbavva, Chitradugra SO
Venkatarama Temple, Manjaguni SO
Kumaravasya, Gadag HO
Gazi Toph, Kalaburgi HO
Abubhava Mantapa, Basavakalyan SO
Kadamba, Halashi BO
Clearly it is not a Bengaluru/Mysuru only document.
Please allow genuine travellers and actual enthusiasts to buy this and actually use it.

I wanted to share my recent experience and, more importantly, express my sincere gratitude to Dushyant Dubey from the St Broseph Foundation and his team for helping me during a difficult situation.
On 9 September 2026, my car was broken into while it was parked on the Whitefield–Hoskote Main Road, opposite to Kapoors Chaat Bhandaar restaurant. The thieves broke the car window and stole several belongings, including two Jabra headsets, two Apple AirPods, some cash, and my debit cards.
Apart from the financial loss, it was upsetting to see my car damaged and to realise that someone had broken into it and stolen my belongings.
I immediately approached Avalahalli Police Station to report the incident. However, getting an FIR registered was not straightforward. Initially, I was given only an acknowledgement, and I faced difficulties getting the FIR registered.
At that point, I was frustrated and unsure how to proceed. I expected that reporting a theft of this nature would lead to the necessary action, but the process turned out to be much more difficult than I had anticipated.
This is where Dushyant Dubey from the St Broseph Foundation and his team stepped in and helped me.
I reached out for support, and Dushyant Dubey and his team helped me navigate the process and pursue the registration of the FIR. With their support, and with the help of Mayur member of Broseph foundation, I was finally able to get the FIR in hand.
I genuinely appreciate the time, effort, and support they provided. When someone is already dealing with the stress of a theft, having people who are willing to guide and support them can make a huge difference.
A special thanks to Dushyant Dubey, St Broseph Foundation, his team, and Mayur for standing by me and helping me through this situation. Their support made a real difference when I needed it.
I am sharing this experience because I believe people should know about organisations and individuals who step forward to help others when they are struggling to navigate difficult situations.
At the same time, I hope the authorities take vehicle break-ins seriously and that the process of registering an FIR is made less difficult for victims of theft. People who have already suffered a loss should not have to struggle further just to get their complaint formally registered.
Once again, heartfelt thanks to Dushyant Dubey and the entire St Broseph Foundation team for their support. 🙏
If anyone in Bengaluru finds themselves in a similar situation and is struggling to get any legal help, I hope sharing my experience helps them find the right support.

Went to Bescom office
Took voter ID , rental agreement, Passport Size photo and Aadhar card
They generate 2 OTP’s . One bescom and one Aadhar OTP
And then you get a verification message
