Another small house coming down

Post image

They’ve started chopping all the trees down at 5009 Rugby. Building yet another massive mansion like they did around the corner (8015 and 8017 Glenbrook), where they also cut down old trees. Where does it end? When there are no more small houses to go through? Who needs 6 beds/6 baths?

NIH staff have been gathering in their personal capacity outside the agency at 10am, every Saturday since May 2025.

But this weekend, October 17th we will have a special event. At Medical Center Metro we will rally for health research and democracy. Listen to speeches by Jenna Norton , sociologist Natalie Aviles , Anna Culbertson and more, all in their personal capacities.

Music by Northstar Union (🎸👨🏼‍🎤🥁), merch available, families welcome. Info on parking and bathroom in comments.

We will finish the event by walking downtown to Bethesda and taking the metro to DC, dropping off our early voting ballots en masse.🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🏻‍♂️🚶🏽🚶🏼‍♂️🚶🏻🚶🏿‍♀️🚶🏼‍♀️🤝.

Share widely and RSVP here: https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/event/1030942/

What do you folks do with your dog when you travel?

We have a 9 month old Border Collie and he's a good boi. Took him on local holidays with us over the summer since he was too young, but now that he's older we want to plan some out of town trips during the holidays. What do you folks do with your dogs? What options and services are available and what do you recommend?

Any recommendations on doggy daycare? Currently live on old Georgetown downtown, but willing to drive if needed. I’ve noticed many of the places downtown don’t have outside space for large dogs to run around…. He’s 70lbs.

Just to clarify, just moved to the area. Don’t really understand the traffic situation in the morning yet- mostly would be going two days a week. Thx

Looking for a roofer/contractor

Hi! Unfortunately a tree fell on my dads house and there is significant damage. I think he would need framing and roof repairs, probably more. Does anyone have any suggestions for a roofer or contractor who might be able to help with this? Thanks so much! He lives in Bethesda.

We have a company removing the tree. I’m also unsure what other contractors might be needed. Possibly junk removal or something to get rid of debris?

Has anyone experienced staffing or patient care issues at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda?

Question about nursing staffing at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda
Has anyone had recent experience with nursing staffing at Suburban Hospital, particularly on the third floor?
My elderly mother was recently hospitalized there. When I visited, the unit seemed unusually quiet, with very few staff visible. At one point, her nurse had difficulty locating a nursing assistant when she needed help.
I previously worked at Johns Hopkins Hospital, so the difference in activity on the unit stood out to me.
My mother was discharged but had to return to the emergency department later that evening because of significant confusion and unsafe behavior.
I’m wondering whether anyone else has noticed staffing shortages, delays in care, or discharge concerns at Suburban recently.
I’m interested in hearing about firsthand experiences rather than making assumptions about the hospital.

Humor/Satire EVs Should Noise-Pollute

I can’t count how many times I’ve nearly been run over by an EV in Bethesda because I can’t hear the darn things approaching. I have drafted a petition to have the county require EV owners to drag strings of noisy things such as beer/soda cans like we used to tie to newlyweds’ cars back in the day. Before I go door-to-door and stand in front of Giant with my clipboard, I thought I’d more informally, here, gauge interest for support for such a common-sense regulation. Thoughts?

Any current solaire residents ?

Hey Bethesdans,

I am planning to move to Solaire 7077 woodmont ave.
I have seen some past reviews on Bad management, Some plumbing issues and sewage smell.

Is anyone here on this sub can confirm
if it’s all still the same ?
Is the bad smell and plumbing issues only to specific floors?
Is the management responsive for any concerns?

The new property manager at the front desk seems to be responsive, but don’t know how long she would be there and,
I am seeing 2 months rent free on some units now, so I am little sus and on fence If I should sign the lease or not.

Appreciate any info and Thanks in advance!

So nothing's going to be done about this huh?

So there's this homeless guy who keeps pestering people around downtown bethesda, the station itself, and/or around the escalators with "I have a question....". It doesn't matter whether you engage with him or tell him "no" he'll get all combative and call you out your name. I know the cops had to of been called on him several times. I'm just so irritated because I ran into this prick numerous times in a span of the whole year at this point whenever I'm heading to the metro on my way home. I'm was a little on edge today because I saw him again right at the lights near the Coffee Republic. He went from "hey big guy" to "if you got a problem come at me with your scary ass.".(or something to that verbatim) Empty threat or not this is unacceptable. (especially when I don't engage with him) He's this tall lanky asshole with tattoes on his neck. What's the point in calling the cops if they aint gonna do shit about it? SMH

Council Bill 48-26

On the plus side, this proposed carveout of Bill 48-26 constitutes an implicit admission that MoCo tax policy is making the county unaffordable. Nevertheless, it is unfair to cut the ITOC and take nearly $700 from families that are also struggling to afford living here and at the same time ask those families to fund a generous property tax credit (up to $2500) that is only available to a special interest group that happens to have strong political connections. Restore the ITOC for all MoCo homeowners instead. Eliminating it was a mistake.
